  • This video introduces the two nonlinear transformations normally used to model a binary dependent variable: logit (logistic) and probit.

Check out ben-lambert.com/econometrics-... for course materials, and information regarding updates on each of the courses. Quite excitingly (for me at least), I am about to publish a whole series of new videos on Bayesian statistics on youtube. Your explanations are truly excellent. Very clear and the use of graphical and algebraic explanations really help to illuminate the cloudy. Bravo!

I've been working on a model and my dependent (accepting the collective contract) variable is dummy (1- yes; 0-no). Meanwhile the independent variables include salaries and the number of employees. When interpreting them can I say e.g. c.p. on average, if the salary increases by 1 euro the probability of accepting the contract will decreases by 0.22. Thank you!

BEN HEEELP!!! What would be a combination of a rare events model (which I compute in Stata with cloglog) and an instrumental variable model (which I estimate with ivprobit)? I have to estimate a rare events model that has some endogenous regressors and I have the perfect instrument for them, but I just don't know how to do it...

    "hello sir,
my topic of research is Identifying ""factors affecting credit defaults"" and for the purpose i am employing Logit model, My question is what should be my method of sampling:
1: should i focus on bank branches with higher proportion of credit defaulters and then take a representative sample for the survey i.e.( Stage 1 of sampling: Bank with highest NPA; Stage 2: Bank branches with highest NPA; Stage 3 : Representative sample)?
2: Or it can be any bank branches conveniently supplying data and then a representative random sample?
3:or I should keep the proportion of defaulters to non defaulters 50:50?
    please help me out here"

Although your result of the limit of f(Z) is right. dividing infinity with another infinity is not right, you need to manipulate the formula to avoid it. anyway the result is 1.
