After weeks n weeks of digital synth announcements that left me cold, this lands..... and makes the hairs on my arms stand on end...... that's all I need to know.
I'm melting what a beautiful melodic beginning. Thanks for creating this beast of a synth and stepping up the game. If I could request one more thing from Korg please reissue the Mono/Poly.
Thank you for this: was just on the Sweetwater demo which was a LONG time talking and no demoing. Your initial demo makes me think of Enya in a parallel universe where she was inclined to go funky and experimental.
Everyone was complaining about Korg . Saying they just came up with stupid updates on the Krome and Kronos. Nothing new. Back to the future. Back to Korg.
This was... almost a scary experience. I am sitting with my iPhone 11 Pro approximately 3 decimeter from my face and hearing the spring reverb effect coming from about half a meter from both sides of my head!😮
Quality demo, - now i know how close my Analog Metropolis Arp vcf sounds compared to a genuine new one, - pretty close actually.. I reckon the price will drop to around £2,800 - 2,900 after a year or so. I could buy one if i sold a couple of unused pieces, - but contemplating selling 2 classic polys for one, 3 osc, 2 vcf semi, kind of puts things into perspective... It's a thing of beauty, both aesthetically and sonically, but it really isn't that hard to convince ones self that the price is still relatively high for what's on offer, - and i feel with every new demo i here, the less i'll feel the desire to own one... still, fairplay to korg and arp, perhaps the secondhand extortion racket will now take a well overdue hit? i expect uli's will sound the same, for about £2,400 less...it just won't feel the same,... humans, we are such shallow creatures really, aren't we??? ~love to ALL, feel no hate~
Beautiful.....I own an original and this is pretty damn close and i’m even tempted to buy one....it does have a more modern tone and brightness to it but very very nice along with the price....
solaariz it’s still not authentic, because korg didn’t make the original. Behringers will be just as authentic (0%). You can get an authentic Arp 2600 used, but then you’ll be spending your life paying for repairs. I have an original arp odyssey from 1974, and after spending $1000 getting it tuned up, it still has problems!
sounds great. looks like the weight is in the front panel, just like my original 2600 you have to hold it when playing with the filter or it will topple over...
Well you do if it’s a sample you made from a real one in Kontakt 😎 Remember once you record this real one to Pro Tools your hearing a sample .. we’re hearing a sample of it right now.
“Looking for the best deal possible? Please contact us for a great deal on a custom ARP 2600 FS semi-modular analog synthesizer package.” YEAH RIGHT!!! Like you can actually get your hands on any to sell. Let me know if KORG ever finally decides to produce enough that we can actually buy any.
Yeah, I don't get the point of a synth that doesn't have a keyboard. All you're doing basically is just making random sounds and sending them through some sort of arpeggiator or sequence. Can't really play a song on it, you know? And why on earth are they so expensive? They are extremely limited. My Access Virus KC cost me $1200 and it blows this thing completely out of the water, as it can make all these sounds, plus a helluva lot more.
Mehh, had a greyface 2600 it sounded good but was so Damn limited in What it could do. Only one adsr envelope! Need at least 3 of them and add to that a bunch of vca’s and 2-3 lfo’s. Bought it for ~2200, sold it for ~ 8000 usd. 😂😂
One simply does not buy this synth because its control abilities, and the variety of sounds. Who buys this synth, appriciates the legacy and the hundreds of classic hit songs behind it. This is the recreation of a part of music history. Also a lot of people started making music on these. It’s iconic sound has been copied a thousand times for better or worse, and it will always be.
Dunno , its the price of a quality tv nowadays , its affordable considering the original was what 2900 dollar wich now equates to , at the time it was this or a car , now the price of a car will buy five of these
Do you want to hear the sound of the synth? This is actually a pretty good video to hear the vibe of the 2600. If you want to watch impressive playing there are a few Weather Report, Hancock, RTF videos available. Geez!!!
Yes that is really a thing with "modern" synth videos, they make paint stripping noises or use the same Seq the whole way through so there is no sense of how it behaves as an instrument.
Newbie, what's he supposed to do, play keys and adjust synth parameters with his nose? 😂 A sequence is the absolute best way for us to hear the kinds of tones this beast is capable of. Geez😂😂😂
fake ! 0:35 minute - there's sound but VCF frequency is closed, VCA is the output for the mixer . or the VCF initial frequency is totally wrong calibrated.
Record it through a distortion pedal with a badly tuned chorus. Press it onto vinyl removing the top end and flattening the bass. Leave it out to bake in the back of your car for a month. Let your cat play with it for a bit. Stick it on a Westinghouse home stereo. Voila! The dirty sound of the seventies.
This proves that you can know the technical side inside and out. But it takes an artist to make good music out of it.
It's mind-boggling to see that Korg recreated this monster, thanks for the demo!
I really REALLY appreciate the different sequences created to show us the different sounds. What an excellent demonstration.
Nice Sequence! The Arp 2600 Reborn! Glorious!!!
After weeks n weeks of digital synth announcements that left me cold, this lands..... and makes the hairs on my arms stand on end...... that's all I need to know.
10:13 REAL springs! Love this demonstration.
I'm melting what a beautiful melodic beginning. Thanks for creating this beast of a synth and stepping up the game. If I could request one more thing from Korg please reissue the Mono/Poly.
Behringer seems to own the trademark for mono/poly now.
How sweet the sound
Glad to hear that it still does the old Arp thing with the resonance on bass sounds that makes them deeper and thicker. Sounds great.
Sounds lovely, the Arp sound is a unmistakable. Great job Nick.
5:00 man, 2600 likes for that sequence!
Best promo so far
Thank you for this: was just on the Sweetwater demo which was a LONG time talking and no demoing. Your initial demo makes me think of Enya in a parallel universe where she was inclined to go funky and experimental.
Let me just commend you on a proper demo. The rest are novices overwhelming us with noise. This evokes proper emotion.
I’m just on the waitlist...who knows when I will move up. Great video. Hopefully, one day. Until then, I have this video.
Glorious sound 😭♥️
A great instrument. Raw and wonderful sound.
Let's go Behringer, I mean Korg
From the advertising, it appears to come in it’s flightcase, which is nice.
This and a Moog Matriarch would be an amazing combo for Tangerine Dreaming.
Everyone was complaining about Korg . Saying they just came up with stupid updates on the Krome and Kronos. Nothing new. Back to the future. Back to Korg.
Yes, Korg is Big. But this is go the past, really
Quality brands 'like' KORG have to be given some time to come up with real quality products, finally...and than they seem to be unbeatable.
Lovely sounds. Thanks for the demo.
Best demo yet. Nice job kraft.
This was... almost a scary experience.
I am sitting with my iPhone 11 Pro approximately 3 decimeter from my face and hearing the spring reverb effect coming from about half a meter from both sides of my head!😮
The out of phase component in that spring reverb makes the reverb extend to my side speakers in my surround setup. It sounds huge.
They need to make a ‘relic version’ it’s toooo nice looking 😉

The dream came true .

That high pass is so good!
Awesome!!
I want one because of the authenticity but can’t afford it so have to wait for the Behringer

The studio electronics boomstar 4701 is a nice inbetween place.
sounds great. looks like the weight is in the front panel, just like my original 2600 you have to hold it when playing with the filter or it will topple over...
Ian o'Brien imagine toppling over your vintage 2600 because you didn't hold it when playing with the filter. I would never forgive myself
Goosebumps 🤗 You don’t get that fat bottom sound from a vst
Well you do if it’s a sample you made from a real one in Kontakt 😎 Remember once you record this real one to Pro Tools your hearing a sample .. we’re hearing a sample of it right now.
Exactly my thinking. So friggin lush.
You do with Arturias emulation of this tbh.
Synth Wars - The Rise Of The Korg ARP 2600, MOOG ONE's Partner in SINE, JUST TAKE MY MONEY.
Oh ... oh my...this thing sounds phenomenal. Not my style but its awesome 👏🏾!!
Do I hear the 70's coming by?
I’ll wait until the AARP 5200 comes out.
Beautiful machine! I'm sticking to my Odyessy and Wavestate pre-order! 4K is out of reach lol
8:47 classic
That is SICK

10:03 sounds just like touch from daft punk
sick!
3:52 Lunatic Calm - The Sound
Glad they're sold out. This was dangerous.
pure eargasm !
Worth it ...wow.
It's sounds lovely, but does it sound $4k lovely? Can't decide...
Considering the Aturia Matrix Brute is under half this synths price and has more features etc I'd say no.
This video is going to sell the most of them, I think.
@5:00 BAD ASS FILMIC SEQUENCE!
That spring reverb though... I'm getting worked up.
Also I’m hearing the Behringer is missing the spring reverb which is disappointing
Fantastic
Ok we get it, it has sample and hold, it's not that it's a new thing though ;) Great demo otherwise :)
Awesome.
At 10:13 ,when do you bring back the ARP too the shop for repair?
One of my biggest regrets is selling mine in the late 70’s, I can’t afford the full size one , so mabey the mini...
If you wait, you'll be able to afford the Behringer version which should sound identical and cost ~$400. Still have to wait another 6 months though.
Great demo, but it would be cool to hear some single or duophonic melodic lines instead of sample and hold in every single video.
Is the circuitry identical to the original or did they redesign the machine?
What's your sequence driven by?
It has a built-in arpeggiator/sequencer, which must be in software I assume.
There's an on-board sequencer and arpeggiator, IIRC.
The keyboard on this new version has a built-in 128 step sequencer.
It's got a sequencer
It has a built in arpegiator and sequencer.
When are going to tour? J/K. 😁
Giving me some stranger things vive. So beautiful
Is that a Boards of Canada sequence?
Expensive musical furniture from 70's.
Great tone AND hipster cred. I'm in.
Aaahhhhrrrrrggghhhhh!
Needs more Ross from Friends singing "INFINITE TIMEEEEEE" over it
more reverb, please. not nearly enough reverb
vaya monstruo
That reverb..
Hm dominion 1 also good...
all this good stuff is reaaallly bad for my GAS :(. Can i sell my last kidney? i might be able to live with none :)
It would have been nice to hear some portion of this video without the spring reverb.
Third demo I've watched and third one to ignore the keyboard :(
lol that's what a sequencer is for so u can concentrate on the important stuff
because its just a keyboard

7:37 🤤
Just gorgeous
Inspector Norse 😁
I recognise this sequence, created by belgian guy

Limited? Lol. I think most of your favorite musicians would disagree.
"limited"
I feel like you either never actually had this synth, or you arent a creative person.
@@SorchaSublime this
Best promo ended...
Thicc
$$$??? (😬 ........) 🍻👍
It's sound and control ability reminds me of the Arturia matrix brute...which is half the price.
Yes, kind of like a Kia is a vintage Ferrari 250. Like not at all. No sound in the video above sounds like an Arturia MatrixBrute.
🤦♂️

Call me crazy, but, it doesn’t really sound right; looks amazing
Dirty
A 50 years old synth ... surfing on the "vintage" wave... and a price oriented only for professional producer...
Only?
I know hobby cyclists who's bike cost this amount.
Some spend this amount on beer a d cigarettes in one year, so let's get some perspective
In its original run it cost $3000.00
Dunno , its the price of a quality tv nowadays , its affordable considering the original was what 2900 dollar wich now equates to , at the time it was this or a car , now the price of a car will buy five of these
Very Synthesizer lmao you really think they could sell this for what, less than a grand? It's a monster synth that is super expensive to make.
See , hear , another victim of the behringer effect
Poor You
need a musician soory
How about actually "PLAYING".????.....Geez!!!!
Do you want to hear the sound of the synth? This is actually a pretty good video to hear the vibe of the 2600. If you want to watch impressive playing there are a few Weather Report, Hancock, RTF videos available. Geez!!!
Seriously? Because he’s showing off the sound shaping capabilities it has. That’s why midi is nice!
Dukerbud...Its monophonic...what do you you want him to play? Some Wakeman / Emerson style noodling? I prefer this ....

doesn't sound like the original
It sounds way too clean.
it sounds perfect. This is how every synth should sound.
Record it through a distortion pedal with a badly tuned chorus. Press it onto vinyl removing the top end and flattening the bass. Leave it out to bake in the back of your car for a month. @@RobinParmar dont forget to poor a cup of vodka mixed with coffee on the keyboard
@@brofister9682 This is the exact technique I use to keep my Jupiter 8 sounding vintage
Too clean? In relation to what? This is what a good synth sounds like, and what an ARP 2600 sounds like
