  • In this video we go over the Vcontrol Touch and see what it’s all about. So far I’m very impressed with the radio system and ease of setup. More setup videos to come!

    Been using Vcontrol for a few years now, the best feature is being able to tune the helicopter whilst its flying, by assigning the Pots to whatever you want to control such as gains, PID and pretty much evrything else, can be done in the air to get the perfect setup for your heli, pure simplicity, everything stored in the FBL rather than the radio setting, makes it a breeze to fly some elses model, I have the EVO and the EVO FBL which also lets you play about with the pulse widths the frequency of the servos and ESC if they can take the lower or higher settings, overall the Vbar coupled with the Vcontrol you cant go wrong its the original and the best in my view.

      That’s news to me! That is an awesome teacher, to be able to tune in the air while flying! I got a look into that! I’m definitely liking it more and more that I play with it. I can definitely see myself switching a few of my models over lol.

    I bought one to try out after years of using only Futaba. I also really like the radio/ set up process. I like that I can update the radio and FBL unit via Wi-Fi/hot spot! No laptop needed, no usb dongle that needs updating, no SD card needed(no SD card reader), no program box. I can see what I’m doing on the radio. No need to carry any of the previously mentioned items to the field. Integration with many ESC’s. No program box and etc to set them up either. Futaba is still lacking in that department. Going to install this in my Nimbus first then a couple other helis once the Evo Rx becomes available. Looking forward to the set-up vid on an electric and nitro.

      I really like that feature as well. Everything done right on the radio no messing around with phones, computers, flashing lights just set it up too many on the go and everything is stored in the FBL unit which is awesome to the iKON integration with spektrum does work pretty good but it’s nowhere near what the Vcontrol is! I’m just waiting on another FBL unit to convert my 580 Nitro over and do some videos on that as well. I’m also going to make a temperature sensor that works with mikado. That will be awesome to have engine temp on the radio. I also really like the ESC integration. That is awesome to.

    Since mikado released a evo that seems to have a lot of bugs, i went for a Neo used. Must say compared to my nx8 ( i know ix14 is a excellent radio)it is like night and day. I simply love the vbar touch. Cant wait for your set up video.

      That’s the reason I went with the Touch and not the EVO! Didn’t want the issues lol but yeah, massive difference from the NX8 ( I have one of those too) I would say compared to the IX14 it’s pretty close to the same.

    Hello Jeff,
    Since your last video on the V-Bar Neo, I investigated it more thoroughly and am falling in love with the new V-Bar Evo. I will be saving my pennies for this radio and their new Evo flybarless. I will probably get it next year with the SAB 420 RAW. I just received the RS4 today on your recommendation and haven't had a chance to open the package. I will be using my Spectrum Radio for this heli. Did you ever receive a reply from H.D. about using the SLR2 remote receiver for the RS4? Keep up the good work. I appreciate all your videos.👍🧙‍♂

      The Vcontroller/Vbar is definitely worth purchasing. I put it off for a long time and I’m glad I got one! It makes set up an absolute breeze! So I asked Goosky them selfs and no one could give me an answer. I just need to try it! The worst it’s going to happen is it won’t work lol but I don’t believe you will get any telemetry feedback other than voltage as that’s all that is shown through the Bluetooth app. Let me know how the RS4 build goes! You should enjoy that model.

      In all honesty, I was the same way before I got one. I used to think they were extremely expensive and overpriced but after owning one the quality of the radio and FBL unit, I see where the price is.

      Is it really? I would really like to see the pros/cons T sheet between this radio and the RadioMaster TX16S MKII MAX AG01 Gimbal 4-In-1 ($350). The Mikado VBar Control EVO (Base Unit) is $1300. Because, the AG01 gimbals are the smoothest on the market and YES EdgeTX has a HUGE learning curve compared to following a horizon model manual to setup a model on a spektrum radio. So what gives? I'd like a detailed response :D. And this isn't baiting, I'm genuinely interested in this radio, but I need to know what it is that is going to get me to sell my TX16S MKII MAX w/AG01s and shell out the difference to get one of these. THANK YOU!

      It is because, coming from Spektrum and having helis that would still be on it, I don't want the flight mode (banks) and throttle hold (motor) to be in different locations. I don't know if you had one of Wakeras old transmitters but the throttle hold was on the exact opposite side for Spektrum's. So, I was always worried of hitting idle up/down when I meant to hit throttle hold. Not the kind of thing you want to mess up on. Lol

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You’re welcome! I hope it was useful! They don’t have digital trims because you don’t use the, with FBL helis. If you set the heli right and everything is level and 90 degrees then the heli will fly perfectly. If for what ever reason there is a drift (and everything is setup right and perfectly) then you can go into the Radio and do a trim flight.

    Quick question: What sensors are the gimbals using? Are they standard potentiometers, hall effect sensors, or... something else?

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not exactly sure, I did some research and try to find out what type of gimbals they were. The only thing I could find out was they were quad, ball bearing precision gambles. But I will say they are incredibly smooth and precise.

    • @NiCadHeliPilot
      @NiCadHeliPilot ปีที่แล้ว

      @@westhobbiesrc8051 In that case, the only way to find out would be to take the controller apart & inspect the gimbals.
      Hall sensor gimbals (such as the AG01 gimbals in my RadioMaster TX16S) have a tiny sensor IC that sits underneath a magnet.
      Whereas gimbals that use potentiometers don't have this.
      The reason why I am asking this, is because pots (regardless of quality) wear out over time. That shows up as 'dead spots' roughly around the centre of the sticks, or the sticks eventually being unable to 'centre' their values correctly.
      If you're the type that is constantly using your controller (in my case, I use mine every day), the pots will wear out fairly quickly with regular use (this happened to my old Spektrum DX7S, & it was one of the driving factors behind me getting my RadioMaster).
      Bearing support is also nice to have, as well. That will help improve the longevity of the gimbals themselves. The AG01 gimbals in my RadioMaster TX16S have that.

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NiCadHeliPilot i’ll be pulling the radio apart to put a second battery in it and get a better look. I’ve had my DX9 with regular gym balls for almost 8 years now. Probably over 5000 combined flights on the radio and the gimbals are still perfect. It would take an incredibly long time to wear out even regular gimbals. My JR 9303 is almost 20 years old now ( I don’t use it anymore but I used to fly the living crap out of that radio for many many years and the gimbals are still perfect) it really comes down to the quality of gimbal that is used and the type of pot/potentiometer that is used. My TX16S broke three gimbal springs and two arms in the matter of 15 flights. That’s why I tossed the radio. I could not trust it anymore then had two Signal losses in resulting in crashes and that was the end for me.
