Ego are not main damage dealers, its usually their effects that are good. The new faust ego has a stupidly good effect of bursting tremor up to 9 times and fusing tremor types

A lot EGOS are good for the AoE, but other than that the most useful aspect is their high clashing power, in case all you have are "hopeless" or "struggling".
So yeah, unless you're basically *forced* to spam EGO to survive or you properly set them up beforehand, they're just a nice little extra.
