    A suggestion to Rick: instead of asking “do you mind if I call a friend of mine to have a look at it?” I would ask “do you mind if I call an expert to give us more info on this and a more accurate market value?”. I mean... if you call “a friend”... it doesn’t make it like a professional thing. It might get sellers a little upset.

    • @MargoMB19
      @MargoMB19 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      While I get what you mean, the psychological effect of the word 'friend' might actually be better in some cases. It's obvious when the 'friend' gets there that they are an expert, just by the details they are talking about. But by saying 'friend', he is giving the impression that he actually knows this person, trusts them to give accurate information, and most likely has a positive history with them. Instead of just 'hey I heard about this expert lets see if he knows anything'. People who deal with customers constantly for years learn how wording can really make a difference.

    • @AzazelReborn81
      @AzazelReborn81 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      MargoMB19 except that: 1) if you’re calling a friend, the customer/seller might think (as they often do) that you’re calling someone who will take your side and help you lower the price; 2) an expert is an expert, and if you’re calling him/her, it’s understood that you know him/her and how he/she works and trust that person and that he/she knows what he/she’s doing. I know perfectly well that wording is important. I’ve been working with customers for over 15 years.
