Great job Scott. All great advice. Your obvious experience can’t be questioned. I will say local purchase can be difficult due to availability. Patience is a virtue until it isn’t 😂I have had to resort to shipping. The scamming advice is really important. Feedback on eBay or FB market is also something to use to determine scammers. I apologize if you mentioned it.

Thanks Steve! The feedback review is also in there, it was a long video.

31:19 Lots of great tips, Scott, and I particularly liked your tip using a discarded cardboard paper towel tube to place in front of each driver of a speaker to hear that all drivers are working properly. That tip alone was solid gold. Thanks! :)

I can only imagine someone crooked coming to you place. It would be a thief's paradise. But it would be an enthusiast's paradise as well.
If ebay detects someone trying to go around them they will kick you off ebay. I have bought a lot of things on ebay and still do. It is a good way to satisfy your post middle age craziness. Went through the watch thing, golf clubs and now stereo equipment. Buying stuff that I had in the past.

Truth be told, crooks are too lazy as vintage gear is HEAVY, they would rather steal digital pictures and scam for the most part. The ebay scams are typically an email address embedded into a picture. Buying on eBay is mostly safe, it is challenging to use online services like FB or CL for shipping, danger!

@jeffcline7689 I used to think the same way, I didn't want people in my place because I have rare valuable vintage pieces and I didn't want them to get stolen... now I realize that this S#1+ is HEAVY! LOL someone would have to be crazy to try and run out of here with my 108 lb Sansui ba 5000 or my 117 lb Von Schweikert vr35 speakers or the 60 lb very awkward to carry Technics reel to reel, I think you see my point! LOL this old gear is its own security system LOL

Another great video Scott! Lots of sound (pun intended) advice! Online etiquette is so underrated and things could be so much better if people knew how to act...If you don't mind me asking, and no pressure to answer, what is your Username on AK? I have been a member there for years, but haven't been too active for a bit. CHEERS!

All the research in the world needs to take a back seat to actually listening before buying.

That subjective part I leave to each individual.
