But If that time period for you is shorter, then you’ll have shorter hair. If that time period for you is longer you’ll have longer hair. It’s not an excuse…it’s literally genetics. Not everybody will have long hair and that’s okay.

    I don't understand the comments about not being able to afford it and not having the time when literally there was a woman that told me the same thing, "she could never take care of her hair because of time management and money" but she had me take her to a place an hour and a half away to get a $900 (I'm not joking in the slightest) wig installed. And it took the whole day for this installment, I went back home and went to pick her up and found out AFTER picking her up.

    • @kristin122
      @kristin122 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      A lot of people use way too much product at one time and use too many different products. I bought huge tubs of expensive shampoo and conditioner (Pureplogy hydrate line, close to $200 for both of them). I bought that over 2 years ago and still have half a bottle of conditioner and a little less of shampoo (gotta shampoo, rinse then shampoo again). I use expensive stuff that lasts me a long time because I don't dump a bunch on my head.
      The amount she is using in her hair in the video is probably the amount I use in 3 months... maybe 4. It's too much. She also should not detangle her hair in the shower. You do that before you get in. Hemp seed oil works the best to detangle. Use oil not water.
      The thing with the expensive wigs is that it's instant. No trial and error and for a lot of people a wig is just as good or better than having their own hair to take care of. Doing your hair does take some time, not a lot if you're doing it right, and some people don't want to put the love and energy into doing their own hair. I do, I love my hair.
      But, no matter what someone chooses to do with their hair is up to them. Also, people say genetics and all this stuff matters. Genetics will play a roll in your density, porosity, and curl pattern. But everyone can grow hair. Some do grow a little faster than others but everyone can grow hair, if you're taking care of it the proper way and a lot of people aren't.

    • @moonlightgoddess4107
      @moonlightgoddess4107 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      @@kristin122 That's what I find is the issue, I don't even use as much product as she's using in the video either, but I have locs so my hair takes a good bit of product because my hair is way longer. With wigs, people can do what they want, but sitting in my face to tell me the only reason they have their hair because it's "unmanageable" is honestly disrespectful, especially when I clearly have my natural hair out and they wanna congratulate me and make me seem like a trooper when like you said they just don't wanna put the effort in.
      I also believe that it's a complete myth with everybody constantly saying it's genetics when it's honestly not. The only thing that's affected is like you said, density, porosity, and curl pattern. Nowhere does it say you'll have short hair for life because that's just what's in your genetics, hair constantly grows just like nails constantly grow. And me coming from a background where most of my black family hates their natural hair and still does, they look at me crazy because I have locs, so because able to love my hair the way I do weighs heavy.

      @Curlycaramelpoodle 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@kristin122I was with you until the detangling part. I'm genuinely curious to how the oil works? Because with conditioner in your hair, it helps to not have breakage. When dry, it breaks EVEN MORE, especially if it's dry. So is the oil like a soft coating on the hair that causes the brush to run smooth enough to run through it, preventing breakage??

    • @kristin122
      @kristin122 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @yoongisamericano2722 it helps to brush through with less damage. If you have split ends, damage, or haven't combed your hair in days, weeks, months, your hair is going to break and fall out. It's easier in the shower with conditioner but that does not mean your hair is not being damaged. Your hair is weakest wet, so if you have damaged hair and detangle wet, it's just going to cause more damage. Easier does not mean it's better. You cannot see as much damage when it's wet or curly.

    • @Curlycaramelpoodle
      @Curlycaramelpoodle 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @kristin122 I mean, it is easier, yes. But I haven't felt too much damage and breakage on my part when it's wet. I see it most when it's dry, actually. since I may be playing with my curls one moment, it knots, and just breaks off for no ideal reason.
      Perhaps it varies from person to person? Because I've had my hair detangled dry countless of times by professionals or just plain family members who do my braids, and it's the worst for my hair since it breaks off way more than when I detangle in the shower. It causes frizz and dries my hair even more. Be it with oil or not

    What black women need to learn is that YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE LONG HAIR, stop obsessing over long hair. The goal SHOULD BE to have HEALTHY HAIR and healthy hair can be short and overtime will grow. Embrace that it's short and come up with short hairstyles. Also stop cutting it if you want it to grow, it can't grow if you go snip snip snip all the time.

    Even with fine straight hair it took me years to find a good combination. Breakage, thinning, excess oil, tangles with the slightest touch. I couldn't even grow it long because I would loose half the volume to breakage once it passed my shoulders. It drove me nuts. I was 34 years old when I found the routine that worked for my hair. I think all hair types have their challenges.

      I have thin hair too. What did you do

    • @Murraysmom2318
      @Murraysmom2318 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @MsLusciousclick I started using the mielle rosemary and mint hair mask (strengthens and encourages growth), then a good leave in conditioner for all my ends. The cream one with biotin from hair heritage is good. (The spray ones do not work as well) The mask will remove oil so you can cut shampoo out once or twice a weak (too much shampoo strips the scalp of nutrient and creates more oil), brush hair before shower, use conditioner on ends before and after shampoo, and use leave in every day. Most importantly, I do not brush my hair until it's 90% dry. Wet hair is weak hair, and our baby fine hair is more fragile than most. It's seems like a lot of products, but if you use it on the right parts and use just enough to cover the ends and keep it from tangling, the breakage will slow and the strengthening products will help. It may need some tweaking on your part because all hair is a little different. I learned my hair is craving moisture, but the right amounts in the right spots. A good tool to use for our hair is bore bristle hair brushes too. They are made of hair, so they are less likely to break our thin hair. It takes some technique to use, though, so don't get frustrated.

      @MsLusciousclick No worries. I wish I had gotten solid advice years ago. Helping is a pleasure. I hope it works.
      Edit: Also, be patient. It took a few months to see solid results. The tangles will disappear almost immediately, though.

    Isn't the dumbest thing ever to say about one's hair⁉️
    First, there has to be some mindset resets where all the lies about ⚫️ hair are debunked, and here's the first debunking live and in technicolor!.
    Next, as Rose says, spend time learning and embracing your hair!
    This is especially true for we, the lucky ones with 4c type hair!
    It's the most beautiful and magical hair of all the hair types.
    Yes, I'm biased towards 4c!😀
    As a young girl, when my mom did my 4c hair, she'd say, your hair is so coarse and thick that it's lovely unlike my fine and thin hair.
    The point is learning to ❤ your hair.
    Hair that's loved is treasured.
    Treasured hair grows.
    Despised hair dies.

    Over the past 9 years I've struggled keeping my hair and sculp healthy. I've religiously tried rice water the past couple of months. Sprayed it once 2 times a week. I did dry my hair initially just a little but I kept spraying it on. I have seen dandruff or flaking on sight my hair is feeling soft. And the length is just a bonus. I always buy whatever shampoo or condtioner and hair cholesterol that fits my budget. For every wash day I mix my condtioner and hair cholesterol apply and cover it with a cap or plastic and rinse it off after hours.
    If you don't have the means for products or time wash your hair in plaits or natural hair mini braids most of the time. You also use less product this way. You'll undo and wash your hair undone when you have the time

    • @Mpumelelo_Mahom
      @Mpumelelo_Mahom 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can make vinegar out of food scraps.
      And if your goal is length the best this for your hair maybe to leave it alone. Do cornrows or mini braids (my favorite). And make sure to do a quick wash every other week and keep it MOISTURISED
