I searched and far and wide but couldn't find any info on it. I posted a single photo about 5 months ago asking for information on my hiking group to which I was verbally attacked by a few people calling me homeless shaming... which is ironic as I have experienced what it is like to be homeless when I was 19.
I used to make it a rule with my kids when we went back packing to carry out others trash but OMG!! It actually hurt me to look at that mess that someone created and had NO responsibility in cleaning up or taking out the trash! Very good video and thanks for sharing it all,,
Tiny cougar made me laugh. You have a great style of presentation style that is friendly and approachable! That camp is both disgusting and impressive. A force of people could probably get the odds and ends cleaned up, but that stove, wow.
this is my first time watching your video's I think I'll sub after watching a few more, you know what salmon berries went out to the woods with a macro lens and you notice the big rocks, I'd say well done for being prepared, oh and the rocks were probably dropped there by the ice age glaciers thousands of years ago back when Vancouver island was a tundra right down to Victoria.
@@IdRatherBeHiking I was on my way to JDF when they close the bear to chin stretch, had to let it go for this season , again. Now after seeing how hot it got, I’m glad I had to cancel it. I’m heading to Landslide instead on Friday. At least I’ll be able to get out before getting back to work..

You’re photo op made me weak in the knees while looking at it. Wow! Such beautiful scenery! As for the camp, it’s disturbing to see so much garbage. Too bad it can’t be cleaned up to some extent!!
That is a disturbing mess that has been left. Very labour intensive to clean it up. Liked the video, keep it up. I am in Victoria and there isn't much around here.
ive been to a giant cliff over the cameron river gorge. you get to it by turning right to a gate at the last stop before the hump highway starts going down. then you walk to the left and you find a trail network, just take the trails to the right and that go lower, if you take the trails to the left you can get down to the cameron river. the only people i ever see there are old hiking people
Its really hard to follow the river, I can only do that with my drone but really can't see much with the tree cover. Didn't see any big waterfalls though, some smaller pools

One question, and maybe it's actually a question about your style of presenting location information, versus a focus on the hiking experience in the video. I'm always curious about location specifics, not because I want to replicate the hike, but because I'm a map-nerd who loves to learn, and find things on Google-Maps. So, my question would be about where this is, in relation to Highway-4. Do you drive-in on the Port Alberni side of the park, close to where the highway becomes a 3-lane steep climb? But I'm not sure if you keep the locations "General" for a reason, and so I'd rather know if that's your preference, and then I can just stop wondering about all those details that intrigue me. Thanks. :)
...and I find the subtitle at the end, about "GPX" files in the Facebook group. Found the file, and now I need to figure out what to do with it (ie. to find a program to open it on my computer). ....and I figured it out :) small victory in learning, for me.
@@Vero360 thats the exact gorge i found, if you take the trails to the left and go to the end of this logging road that keeps going lower you find a sign that says cameron river.. it takes all the way down to the river. they are all interconnected trails. you could even go down the road to arrowsmith there is logging road that goes up a hill you can practically drive right to the short trail to the cliff

Yep, it was 15+ years ago though. I have a friend who ran into him once. Said he wasn't very friendly. ;)

I think the hermit who built that died which is why it was never cleaned up.
Great video! Drones are a game changer for our kind of terrain. It is difficult to see the forest when there are so many trees!!
