Ray's general demeanor didn't quite fit with AH the way Jeremy's does. Ray is much better off on his own/with his own friends, where they actually mesh. Some of Ray's best moments at AH are when he gets legitimately pissed off during a game, and that's really not a good thing. In most games, he was usually just sorta there and quiet, with a dryer sense of humor, and not trying to go out of his way to follow along with the energy levels of the others. I could compare to the golden age of The Creatures, where Seamus worked well specifically because his terminally dry humor was a massive contrast to the others, and the others actually called attention to it, rather than letting it fade into the background. It worked because the others actually responded to it, while in AH, they tended to just not register Ray's jokes because he didn't forcefully inject energy into it. Even sad Geoff works as a bit, because the other actors in the scene engage with it. As opposed to Ray, where he'd say something, and it usually wouldn't get noticed by the others because they were overly loud. Usually, if Ray didn't specifically wait for a quiet moment, the only ones that would notice and give even a quiet 'hah' were Michael and Gav, with Jack occasionally giving a quiet acknowledgement.

i like to imagine them actually doing what theyre doing in the game and just casually having a group call. its hilarious at times. no screaming for your life, just cussing.
I have a hard time watching through these best of videos cause you can audibly notice how Ray slowly begins to hate everything and how their whole product becomes crap. Thankfully some of the new guys (specially Jeremy) have reinjected Achievement Hunter with some much needed energy
