Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This live recording is from Ziggo Dome Amsterdam in 2022, together with Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, and Henk Poort, a well known Dutch baritone.
About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

Hank and Floor met when filming the dutch version of "Sing my Song", and Hank was so impressed by her performance of Phantom of the Opera (not this version) that they agreed to have him be a guest at a nightwish-show. Apparently he felt right at home, "except for the weird clothes I had to wear" (T-Shirt and jeans instead of a tux). Hank is a famous, established Opera singer in the Netherlands, whose most famous role is...the Phantom.

Henk Poort was the actor of the Phantom in this musical in I guess Rotterdam. And the family Jansen has visited this musical when Floor was a Teenager. And after this evening Floor wanted to be a singer like Henk Poort. So he was the guy wich has given the example to be the singer Floor is. And at the ducht show Beste Zangers she sang this song with him the first time an d pleased him to sing with a raspy voice and so he did. But before he was told that he was the reason that Floor started to be a singer. And when you watch this video you can see it. That's the story behind this video.
Henk has sung The Phantom with Floor at a number of her solo shows as well.
In the summer of 2023, Floor was asked to fill in as an opening band for the Amsterdam Metallica stadium show. Floor had 1 week of notice but went with her band and did her solo show, getting a standing ovation. Henk joined her at the concert, and he wore his tux when he sang the Phantom with her.
There is music, there is beautiful music , and there is Nightwish.... The Phantom, Ghost Love Score, and Lanternlight.... Any corner of the world of music is covered by them, in a unique and absolutely gorgeous and flabbergasting way. And remember, they don't do bad songs. Only overwhelming ones

Floor her name is derived from the Roman Goddess of Spring, Flora.
Floor Jansen is called the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy.
Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 4 octaves (Eb2 to F6).
She can sing from classical to belting and raspy vocals like screaming and death growls. And she's also a voice coach and teacher to boot. Plus, huge vocal nerd 😉.
Floor Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg, where she graduated in 2003. She studied musical theatre and a year of opera. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016.
From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon (Second singer of Nightwish after Tarja) as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour (And she had to learn the setlist in 48h). On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer.
SO, the second singer...
Henk is a OG Dutch Phantom. A promise was made in Beste Zangers TV show, where they sing this song for first time, that he will sing this song with Floor again with Nightwish, when they come to the Netherlands.
And this song was a surprise to the fans. Nightwish performed this song last time 17 years ago with Tarja, and now the circle is complete...
And that Crowd Roar, when Henk walked on stage, wearing Official "Nightwish Family" T-shirt, but that Floor's last note... it was insane 12,2 sec.

Hi, hier Piet uit Rotterdam. Je kende ‘ onze’ Floor nog niet??? Prima introductie zo. Nadat ik Floor hoorde bij De Beste Zangers ben ik haar gaan volgen en kwam bij Nightwish. Dat is een geweldige band. Elk nummer is weer anders. Ghost Love Score met miljoenen views miet je gezien hebben. Maar voor jou lijkt mij het nummer An Oceaan with Strange Islands ( pas uit) een geweldig nummer. Het nummer Disdain ( Graspop 2010) van haar vorige band Revamp vind ik ook fantastisch ( echt metal) . Succes met je zoektocht naar Nightwish. Het heeft mijn leven verrijkt en al vele concerten bezocht. Elke weer een belevenis.

You might find singers who can do the individual things Floor does a little better, but you would be hard pressed to find another singer who can do everything Floor does at the level she does and flip seamlessly between them all.
Floor and Henk got this such a killer performance the range that she has with him and nightwish damn gonna make grown folk cry sooo good thisd is without a doubt the best that anyone has heard that piano sound that Tuomas is doing together with the guitars and the rest of the instruments

Ok, your pronunciation of Amsterdam gave your Dutch background away. Henk Poort performed as the phantom in the Dutch version of the musical. He sang both musicals as well as classical repertoire in his career, and performed with Dutch colleagues Marco Bakker and Ernst-Daniel Smid as the Three Baritones. In 2019 he was in the Dutch tv show Beste Zangers and he sang there this duet with Floor, on the condition he could perform it one day with Nightwish. This was the first time this classical trained vocalist performed with a metal band, and with great result.
