Behold! The Fat Ripper BMX

- If you’ve been following this TH-cam channel you’ve seen swing bikes, tall bikes, and even bikes that are hard to call bikes. Today we’ll look at what is easily the most belligerent bike I’ve ever seen-The SE Fat Ripper.
With 26 by 3 and a half inch tires, it’s definitely fat bike, but clearly it’s also a BMX. The Fat Ripper was designed and tested by BMX legend Todd Lyons, who is brand manager for SE Bikes. In his video, you’ll see that the fat tires turn bumps in the pavement into straight up ramps.
It is Todd who sent over this bike for testing, so today we’re going to do that Miami style.
The first thing I noticed about the Fat Ripper was how dope it looked. From the old school BMX adornments to the SE Logo shaped cutouts in the rims, this thing turns heads.
Another thing I noticed was that the massive tires chirp every time the bike lands as the mass of the wheels adjust to their ground speed. That’s the only thing you’ll hear when the Fat Ripper lands, as these parts are battle ready.
The Fat Ripper weighed in at 36 pounds, and to be honest, I was surprised it wasn’t heavier. After all, this bike isn’t just for show, it can handle the abuse you would expect from a BMX. Because of the weight, you need to be heavy handed with the Fat Ripper if you want it to obey your commands.
Staircases feel like nothing. Curbs are like kicker ramps. Ramps, are like-ramps. If you’ve jumped on a BMX, you’ll be able to jump the Fat Ripper.
I’ve ridden a BMX on mountain bike trails before, and it’s a pretty rough ride on the chunkier sections. The Fat Ripper feels more like a fat bike, but with BMX geometry that beckons you to take to the air. The rigid frame and bouncy tires make this pig fly off everything.
Like the other novelty bikes we’ve tested on this channel, I can already smell the comments about how it’s just for attention, or that it’s totally impractical. This vocal minority is kind of a sad bunch. The Fat Ripper is unapologetically flamboyant and impractical, and that’s what makes it so awesome. It’s the perfect bike for the beach, social rides, bar crawls, or even getting around town in an unruly manner. It weighs less than most cruisers, and is more comfortable than most fat bikes. The Fat Ripper is the ultimate smile delivery device, and I can’t stop riding it. I hope it put a smile on your face, because we’ll be seeing a lot more of this bike around here.

I go mountainbiking all the time with my sebike then the next day im at a skatepark, mtbs arent allowed in skateparks where i live so sebikes are amazing

I just picked up my 2019 Fat Ripper today! Videos do this bike absolutely no justice! I'm in love with this bike! It's a monster! Thank you Seth for planting this seed! My wife may be a little pist since I just purchased another bike within a month, but oh well. Who's counting?! Well, I guess she is! Haha!

If you're just beginning and going to grow more in the future it'd probably be best to go with a decent hardtail since they are cheap and help develop beginner skills

I love it. I grew up on bmx and love the old school style bikes. This thing makes a grown man look like a kid on it too which is awesome.
3:14 Dang, I wish I could session street spots like that on my MTB, all I have around my house is the average stuff, lots of curbs, (normal size), driveway-to-curb transitions (not the big poppy kind), gravel, ect.

Oh man that looks like fun. It has been since the eighties that I have been on a BMX bike. We thought we were pretty badass on our GT's a Haro's. I may need to get 1 er 3. Fat Bikes have gotten me back on the trails after a 10 year hiatus. Thanks Seth. Keep up the Great Work.

wouldnt you consider this more of like a jumpbike , slopestyle or streetbike than a BMX? i mean not only the weight but its shire size makes it way harder to flip around right ?

Quite a few companies make 26" BMX's and few make 29ers. 26 BMX's have been around since at least the 70's. Not everyone feels comfortable on a 20 or 24. There's a few videos on youtube of guys street riding 26's. Looks like a lot of fun.

Hey Seth I’m a big fan I have been watching for a long time when the Chanel name was Seths bike hacks and when you did the road trip on road bikes. I remember in the road trip video when you fixed a flat on the side of the highway and also when that bad crash happened. What's really funny to consider is it's almost exactly like a normal BMX scaled up perfectly-tires and all. The fact that I'm 5 foot 4 makes it even better.

I got a big fat tire beach cruiser that look a lot like this. BMX influenced design, though it’s not made to do this. It aluminum, disc, but still heavy. It’s fun for its intended purpose. Cruising.

I love this bike but I don't have the money for one so I got something like it and I live in jersey and N.Y.C. so I ride street and some down hill. At 51 I do the best I can and still go big or go home. Thank you for all you do.
