OMG, those hideous flies start landing on the zebra even while its still alive! So many flies in Africa! Poor lions having to deal with them. They probably mistakenly eat some while they're eating the zebra.
The way the three lionesses all spread out to take their positions was pretty cool. But despite their strength and fierceness, lions don't appear to be the best hunters of all the big cats. They miss more than they succeed. Leopards, on the other hand, are great hunters.
The thing lions have going for them is social cooperation. This allows them to hunt much bigger pray that can feed the whole pride and more hunting opportunities leveraging the collective. Jaguars are certainly more stealthy, but you will never see them kill a Buffalo or Zebra for that matter unless it’s an animal that’s already dead, dying or an infant. Both are very successful predators in their own rights.
If the lions were not good hunters they would have disappeared hundreds of years ago, ask the thousands Zebras, Wildebeest, Buffalo, Warthogs, ect, ask them why they always are on guard when Lions are near.
In the nature, like prairie, steppe or savannah you have nearly all the time a cloud around you with flies, mosquitos and very big horse flies :) ... and they all want to eat
One can't help but feel sorry for the zebra,it's not nice,and the world of nature is a cruel place.But at least Lion's and any other big cat, or any predator kills solely for survival,unlike certain people who do it to animal's just for the sheer thrill and pleasure,and having their photo taken next to the animals corpse,who's life they've just taken,smiling.
Who says animals kill solely in order to eat? I feed my cat extremely well - he wants for nothing. But he still goes out hunting for mice and squirrels. Cruelly plays with and tortures them to exhaustion, then tears them apart and eats them alive. Animals have sadistic instincts, w way more than humans!
You could'nt even see, the Lion's, catching that pregnant Zebra. We missed all the action. I don't think that the Zebra, could run fast, because it was pregnant.
I love Zebras. They are not easily killed either. This pride made it look easy but it sure isn’t. Wildebeest fall prey more than zebras do. They are less agile and zebras are more strategic. I’m sure the family is missing them.Lions have to take any advantage they have and when it arrives. Not just when they are hungry. It’s feast or famine for them.The killing is hard to see and seems sad but that’s also what makes life so beautiful and precious there

Definitely! The fact that they hunt alone separates their skill. Lions are good hunters they’re just not the best hunters so I agree.
