That's exactly what I'm thinking, been a Spurs fan for over 20 years. Since Wright started drafting he's looked for players at this size and with this skillset. They have publicly stated small guards are not priorities and especially if they project as a negative on defense (sorry Dillingham). I'd prefer Castle at 4 and either Matas, Holland or Wliams at 8.
Spurs would be passing on a dynamic scorer. Dillingham gives me Kyrie vibes. I just don't see another wing being able to crack our rotation. Especially when you have money to get you a proven 3 and D NBA player. Elite PG are so hard to come by these days, and most teams aren't going to let their top PG go for cheap. Not drafting Dillingham would be a huge mistake. Spurs have their wing players. They need a starting PG like Kyrie to play with Wemby, and he's the closest thing to it. People just don't get that Wemby is Jokic, Porzingis, and Durant rolled into one guy. He can do it all. With his abilities, he allows the team to make moves we are not used to seeing as Spurs fans. Just imagine if Parker came into the league with a killer jumper and 3 pointer. That's who this kid is.
@justinscarborough6428 I don't see how exactly Castle would fit into Charlotte's plan, they already have a wing and guard tandem with Ball and Miller, best thing for charlotte to do is get a good big man to pair with them, Donovan Clingan makes sense of he's still there. Castle although listed as a pg will really translate to a wing in the NBA, going wing with Miller on the team doesn't make sense.
His stats are so misleading. He came into a loaded defending national champ and no only won a starting spot, became a key player in the tourney run. He's definitely in consideration up to the top 5. If he turns into the best player in this class it would not surprise me but he's still somewhat of a projection on offense.
@HoopIntellect , agreed! You are the best source for NBA draft player reviews, film session breakdowns, short and long-term projections! You cover just about every facet, Keondre!
The way he fights over stagger screens to defend Devin Carter and purdue’s senior guard was very impressive. Loved watching him play live this season his main knock I saw was he can logjam spacing offensively since he’s a guard who plays inside the perimeter often. As a hornets fan I wanted him even if we landed pick 2 before that horrid lottery.
As a Rockets fan I like Castle as a prospect but I think already enough 'if his shot improves' prospects in our team. Love his defence though. He's probably better suited on a team like Spurs or literally any other team picking in the top 6.
Man seeing him play D has got me hyped. It'll be nice to have a player that can work through screens and clamp down on the perimeter while Wemby can focus on shutting down the paint. Hopefully in a couple of years, we'll see the Spurs back to being that dominant defensive them they used to be.
Apparently he won a combine 3 point shooting contest. The clip I saw had decent form, not the quickest release-- but he only needs to keep the defense honest. Can he play point in the NBA? If you buy the shooting improvements , he might be picked 2nd by the Wiz.
I'd love to see a scouting report of Tyler Kolek , this is my favorite scouting channel, I don't get to watch much college ball and definitely overseas, so I love having this channel to gain knowledge of these draft prospects thank you
Castle would be an amazing pick for the spurs, he’s the defensive type they need and strong guy but he can develop a lot of confidence in his outside shooting with Wemby as a teammate who has a potential to be one of the best rebounders if he gets a normal star type players minutes. Add Reed Shepard at the 4th pick and it’s over.

He can score. He played in a structured offense with UConn. You can tell by the way he drives, he drives with skill and pace. Of course he’ll need to develop a better outside shot and tighten his handle to maximize his potential but he’s strong, he’ll be able to get into the paint and finish, especially against other guards.
