Even braver were the men who refused orders to fall back, command was worried about further collapse. The rescue teams basically said "we're not leaving them!" Saying that if there is a collapse then there are hundreds of others out there who know where they are.

For those that don't know, Strauss and McGee actually knew McLoughlin personally. All 3 had done joint training exercises for their department's respective ESU units together, including after the attacks in 1993. McGee affectionately calls McLoughlin "Irish Eyes" because McGee also played the bagpipes for the NYPD's Pipes & Drums band, and Irish Eyes was the name of one of the songs.

Scott Strauss NYPD ESU actually had severe problems with his lungs and has had several major surgeries, he says he’s just waiting for the day he gets sick. He has an obvious cough in all his interviews. But he’s happy for all the time he’s had, none of the rescue workers thought they were coming out of that hole. The actual hole was 30 feet+ deep and so small and horrific, you couldn’t actually film in the actual size, so it was made bigger for the movie. The movie is pretty much word for word what happened in real life. Will asking them to cut his leg off. Encroaching fired couldn’t be controlled at one point and the team was told to get out now, it was in danger of collapse or death by fire. Patty McGee actually told them to “go fuck themselves” when given the order to pull back and leave them. The rescuers knew the Sgt personally. They said if the hole collapses and will and John were killed, they were dying with them. Will was trapped for 13 hours and John 23 ish. The real guys actually make a cameo in the end of the movie. Oliver stone and Scott actually fought about the filming because Oliver stone kept asking “does this look right”, and Scott Strauss would say “it was much more horrific than that”. Oliver stone was pissed because if they made the hole any smaller, they wouldn’t be able to film it. So however horrific this movie is, it was ten times worse in real life. But the dialogue, wills vision of Jesus, all of that was word for word accurate according to Jimeno. Including Dominick’s last words. He said “don’t ever let anyone forget I died trying to save you guys”. And then asked the Sgt for a break, and he died like two feet from will, it looks much farther away in the movie

If you guys watch the National Geographic documentary on 9/11, they interviewed the people that were trapped, and those who found him. It’s a nice documentary but it really is hard to get through it without having to stop and contemplate the situation, your life and just how real people were impacted from this.
No matter what you believe, what conspiracy theories anyone has, how any war or invasion was unjustifiable. No matter what it is. The fact remains innocent lives paid the highest price. First responders being crushed by bodies falling from the building. People jumping because they only have two ways of dying. Post 9/11 sickness like cancer. I hope these innocent lives are in peace and that their families are strong to get through it all

Yep, that's with any building along with interior stairwells.. Most people who made it to a stairwell on 9/11 but thought they'd be fine if they stayed there weren't exactly wrong in thinking that, I believe there was part of a stairwell left standing and a entire fire department crew was standing there safe and sound when the tower came down, I believe it was Ladder Company 6, they were on their way up and a woman needed help coming down and they were on the 8th floor when the buildings came down and the stairwell they were in (Stairwell B) was left standing.. The 6 firefighters and the woman lived and were considered survivors even though the woman they rescued later died in 2011.. :(

The crazier thing was Jimeno didn’t say that to try to get himself out and save himself. He wanted to get out faster because John was fading in and out and dying. Will wanted them to amputate his leg (in real life, they had a team of doctors ready to talk Scott Strass (NY ESU) through the amputation. But Strauss said “we’re getting you out in one piece”. Will wanted his leg cut off so his sgt John could get out faster because he was in much worse shape than will. Even 20 years later John has open wounds and excruciating pain. If it wasn’t for John knowing those buildings so well (he assisted in security after the 93 bombing), and yelling at them to get in the elevator shaft, they would’ve all been pulverized instantly. The real Jimeno and McLoughlin make a short cameo clapping for the actors that played them at the end of the movie.

Dominick Pezzulo is the real hero staying against better judgment with little kids tryin to free these two when he knew it was impossible for 1 man to lift heavy concrete and he subsequently died after the second tower collapsed .

Why in every American film does someone have to be a marine, infact the marine bit ruined the film .

Well, it might just be because they were discovered by two marines? 🤷‍♂🤦‍♂

Because, in fact, two U.S. Marines found Jimeno and McLaughlin. Brave men, something you would know nothing about, Douglas Taggart.

Ruined the film... The Marines went in when they said no one was allowed to keep searching in real life after the towers fell. I may be wrong with their phrase but SEMPER FI, Marines will always come through. Plus the military brothers too ya know. There are many events where a former military person came in clutch.
One time I thought I was lost, and a former miliatry person knew that look of fear and panic on my face. I was having flashbacks to when I lost my little brother too. They calmed me down, and I told them I am not lost just the thoughts flooded in. They were a Marine and said that regret attacks them too. I regretted losing my little bro. and it haunts me no matter what I do. He is finenit ways years ago but 😅 it gets to me.

By unnecessarily interfering in IRAQ the AMERICANS they were awarded with a day to sit &cry every year all together with shame, till the end of this WORLD through the tragedy of Sept-11. Can the former President George W.Bush JUNIOR able to forget the tragedy of Sept-11 in this life ?

So John could of left the building cause he was scared but he made a promise to his friends that they will never leave each other so he did that then the building collapsed and he got trapped and he was stuck there for 13 hours waiting for help and thought he was dead so for a while he did a peace sign so went they found his body they would find the peace sign but no he got out with rebar in his leg so he had surgery and now he is fine but has a hole through his leg
I got to shake his hand and that’s all I always find it sad I will be forgotten in the next 10 minutes by him but I will remember for 50 years🥹
