    Many homeowners get estimates, you have to be competitive. offer free minor repairs. After a few years, I did not have to advertise as I had my regulars and all new customers was word of mouth. Yeah, you do burn out after doing this type of work.

    My hat is off to you guys. That has to be a dirty and possibly dangerous job cleaning gutters. One minor point, I would think using a battery operated blower would be better than gas powered when on a roof. Some gutters that haven't been cleaned in a long time are just a sludge of dirt, mold, etc. No thank you.

    In my area everyone charges 100-160$ so charging higher is harder

      Sell better

      Yeah you need to look at your zip code.
      In my neighborhood I’m competitive at $125.
      Two streets over I can sell an identical size house for $200-$250.
      Not to mention a lot of guys (not saying this is you) but a lot of guys don’t think about their presentation: they show up looking like methhead mike, squinting up at people from their front stoop and mumbling about gutters and get frustrated when they can’t sell. I literally sell better after a haircut. I have the numbers to show it. People with nice houses are more concerned about quality of work and insurance than who is cheapest.

    Sir I’m 16 and want to try this in the spring will I need to sign up for a llc or any insurance to get started or can I get started without any of these requirements

    • @Tristan.Kalina
      @Tristan.Kalina  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’d recommend starting with friends and family that will let you do it on their home,
      But then if you’re starting to work with strangers yeah I’d get an LLC and insurance

    • @timothyjackson3861
      @timothyjackson3861 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You don't need an LLC to start, you can start out as a sole proprietorship

    When you offer gutter cleaning and pressure washing and several other services, how do you approach the customer without bombarding them with all the offers?

    • @Tristan.Kalina
      @Tristan.Kalina  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I just say hey we offer ____ noticed that you have algae growth right there and we can take care of it while we’re here

    • @lordrush4453
      @lordrush4453 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I made flyers/postcards that have ALL our business info Including a list of services. I hand it to every job before I start so they have information on hand during the service. I can guarantee that you will get asked about another service before you leave. It’s no pressure and they usually put it on their fridge or whatever and call you later. Make it pretty to look at! Thank me later.

    Another problem is the wrong people are trying to start a business. It’s not for everyone some people are meant to be employees. It’s a certain type of personality and drive and charisma and charm and wits to score jobs and make people happy. It’s not a bad thing to be an employee so don’t get ur head down if that’s you. It’s okay. Running a business isn’t all sunshine and rainbows, being an employee is pretty chill with not a lot of stress or anything on the line, cuz it’s not ur ass it’s ur bosses.
