Your video brings up a good point. When you do a back to back cruise covering the same ports, you do not have to go out both times. Or you can have two complete itineraries for the different days. I did three weeks in Alaska and could schedule outdoor activities on nice days and inside ones on bad weather days.
I’m always so impressed by your quality productions! Your videos are informative and entertaining, and they give a wonderful insight as to what it’s actually like to be onboard. Your voice is calming too! Thank you so very much for your thoughtful videos, and for a realistic view of the solo-cruising experience. Hi Wade! Wade here too. I hope you had fun with my friend Cole the Cruise Director. Great vid. I travel princess a lot and did the 2023 World Cruise. It was amazing
Great video! We have cruised on Princess in the past 9 times, to Caribbean, Hawaii and our most recent to Alaska. However, our next cruise is to Mexican Riviera out of LA in early 2026 on the Royal Princess. We are also doing a quick repositioning cruise on Discovery out of Vancouver (live in Victoria) as it comes back for 2026 season to Alaska. Can’t wait to check out 2 ships we haven’t sailed on yet and our first cruise to Mexican Riviera. Thanks for sharing your experience 😊
I cruised on Discovery Princess to Alaska's Inside Passage, and found the quality of the ship to be absolutely fantastic! Interesting to hear you talk about some of the changes following the launch of Sun - will be interested to see how the 'standard' Princess model's going to change in the future after the learnings from that ship are clearer...
The quality is indeed outstanding. And no doubt there will be even more changes to come. The Sun looks like such a unique pivot for Princess. Looking forward to seeing her up close and personal soon.
Just came back from this cruise, it brought back great memories. I wish I had seen your video before the trip. Next time then. Thank you so much! Great video!
@@lisawatertiger7477 welcome back. It’s a wonderful ship. Thanks so much for watching and for your comments. My part two of the cruise is now up on the channel as well, if you’re interested.
Wow. Wow. That was great! When did you sail? I was on Discovery Princess - solo - in late Jan / early Feb (2024), similar itinerary but reverse of yours. I loved Discovery Princess! For me service is where Princess gets it right. I have differing opinions about specialty dining and the "packages" but this is your video - not mine - so I'll keep my opinions to myself. I look forward to your video concerning your mini-suite - I had a mini-suite, also, and loved it - and I am very grateful for all the details you provided on excursions. I'm booked on Majestic Princess for 10 days to Mexico in November; your video - and others - are helping me determine what I'll do different next time. For now, let me say that your video was 30 minutes well-spent and I'm grateful - particularly as a solo cruiser - for the effort you put into it. 👍
Thanks so much for taking time to watch and comment. Happy to hear it was of value to you. My cruise was at the end of Jan so we may have passed one another on debarkation day!
I agree with you regarding the Take Five Lounge. I was a frequent solo patron there on two Sky Princess cruises. Great music, drinks, and service there every time.
Thanks for your impressions of this ship. I’m booked on her for a 26 night Sydney to Los Angeles repositioning next year. Repositioning cruises are usually cheaper so even as a solo, I was able to get a balcony cabin. Looking forward to long sea days just enjoying this beautiful ship.
Hi again. Just back from my 2nd Venezia (first included Miami with the 2 brothers bus tour) out of NYC (live in NJ) - and as usual was checking out cruise videos for my next one and watched your Princess Discovery vlog. I realized I totally forgot that Princess sails out of NYC (Brooklyn) so 2 days ago booked Enchanted Princess for August 2025 to Canada. I've sailed this itinerary on the Fun Ship quite a few times - but now devouring all that I can on the Enchanted - PLUS package too!. Thanks for your post and happy sails to you!
Ha! That is so awesome. Was just talking to tour guide Michael about people asking how they can book his tour if their cruise line does not have it listed. Hope you had a blast. I just released a second part to the Discovery Princess trip report, if you are interested. Enchanted, as I understand it, is VERY similar to Discovery. The Plus package is just right for me and comes with all I could want and more. That Canada trip sounds like a blast.
Beautifully done review, thanks so much. We’ve been on the Discovery 3 times and we’ll be on her again soon. My husband and I prefer Princess when we travel by ourselves. We prefer RCCL when cruising with our grandkids, since they offer oodles of activities onboard breaded for younger people.
I loved the ship, what it offered in entertainment, the food :), staff is so friendly and nice, and they lots to offer! We got the Princess Package and it was great value. I would most definitely go again and planning for another trip. Well worth it and very happy :)
Great video! (Was this video directly sponsored by Princess Cruises? It’s the best and most informative of any review of any of their ships that I’ve seen.)
I have to say that the ship looks very similar to the Regal Princess, which is our current favorite ship to cruise on. We really like the quality of the food in the buffet and MDR on the Princess ships which means that we have never seen a need to pay for additional special dining. We also really like the entertainment and all of the enrichment talks. We just booked the 29 day Seattle - Yokohama- Singapore cruise in September 2025. I liked your video and will be looking for the secret places to hand out. The one disadvantage of the medallion is that your cabin mate can track you down at her convenience. (g) The only thing that I do not like about that class of Princess ship is the lack of a true promenade deck where you can completely walk around th. ship like they have on HAL.
Thank you for this wonderful video! I will be on the Discovery next summer for my first visit to Alaska, and made me anticipate things even more. Especially when I saw that food! And I am booked to dine and both the Crown Grill and Rudi’s so I can’t wait. I will also be traveling solo as I always do and I can’t wait to add this to my cruise experience. Thank you for kicking my anticipation up to 159%! 😂
@@TinaBiebe woohooo!!! You’re going to have an amazing time. Thank you for watching and for your kind words. And taking this incredible ship to Alaska is an even greater treat. Enjoy your solo journey. They’re the best.
FYI.... I did the Enchanted Princess March 27 to April 6, 2024 and the ship is identical to this discovery Princess (and I went on rm #E510 ... my obstruction was even smaller!
I will also be doing a solo cruise on Discovery Princess next October. I have no excursion booked for Mazatlán and as a solo traveler I worry about that, being on my own and be bothered by street sellers or taking a taxy to the centre. Maybe I’ll book something. I’ll also go on the same luxury sailboat in Cabo San Lucas. That will also be fun! I’ll be on this cruise inspired by the Love Boat series and due to the fact that the stops/ports are the same. I grew up watching it and always dreamt of being on that ship. Well, it won’t be the same ship, but that’s close enough.
The history is definitely there. They even have a shrine to the original Love Boat alongside Guest Services that is quite heartwarming. Wishing you a great cruise!
We sailed on this ship on the Oct 26th Mexican Riviera cruise. On a positive note the ship is just beautiful. They have nailed the onboarding process and the medallion is great. Now for the not so positive. We had a jr suite and to be honest it was a bit disappointing. They had a fridge in the room but unstocked. Not even waters! However the mattress was extremely comfortable. I also found the balcony very small. We ordered the premier practice that included the 2 restaurants. We did the italian and steak house. The food was nothing special, actually disappointing. Overall the food was ehhh. The activities and entertainment were what you would expect. In summary, in comparing this to a suite on Holland America cruise my opinion we liked Holland America.
I hear that on Princess you get double night credit for sailing solo. Did you receive credit for sailing 28 nights vs 14? Or was it reduced due to the lower fare? As a solo traveler, I am interested in trying Princess out of LA, as that is my home port as well. Most of the time, I am priced out, but I will need to watch for something. Very nicely done video!
Great video. Do you remember when formal nights are and how many for 7 days? I know you had two -weeks of Mexico Riviera cruise and probably many formal nights :) Thanks.
