    You can Sellotape the eye to the Quill & also "Catch In" the start of the whipping thread. It'll be fine, as the Float will be painted/doped/varnished etc.

    I am lucky enough to have 2 of these floats made by Clive, they are my favourite float so sensitive great on canal using a whip. Thank you Clive.

    I used to put a small piece of bronze bar in the base for counter weight...you could get it from model shops it was a good diameter for most float adapters. Nice vlog clive👍

    I use good quality cotton sewing thread instead of “nylon whipping”. I prefer more wraps of thinner material, and a material which will “soak” up epoxy throughout the wraps. Something that nylon wrapping doesn’t do.
    I use this method for floats, rod eyes, and even rod repair.

    He's made the float upside down! That not how we made um in the 50s, I find it difficult to get quills these days, but you can get porcupine quills on ebay dead cheap , clean um up, paint um and there you have it an excellent float for about 40 pence, and I use um for all my still water fishing , carp on a small quill , single no.4 shot, 5lb line ... great fun.
    And you're not loosing £2.50 if you get snapped.

    Doesn’t the paint and varnish add some weight to these sensitive floats and affect the rating?

    • @CliveBranson
      @CliveBranson  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Brian You must take that into account when Making these type of floats

      Dave... Sometimes in Lidl, they have very fine tipped paint marker pens, silver and white stand out well and they're cheap, I use them at work. may be good for this purpose too. cheers :-)
