i recently used these two computers at the same time using the same set of sensors (speed, cadence, heart) and what I can say regarding the last question about Speed, Distance and Elevation accuracy is... 1. Ave. Speed: Xoss 15.9kph vs Magene 16kph 2. Distance Xoss 50.39kms vs Magene 49.26kms; 3. Elevation Gain: Xoss 489m vs Magene 376m 4. Ave. Cadence: Xoss 63rpm vs Magene 66rpm 5. Ave. HR: Xoss 121bpm vs Magene 120bpm all using Ant+ protocol
Nice review; thanks. The only thing you left out (unless I missed it) was satellite compatibility. I seem to recall from reading the specs that they both support 5 satellite geopositioning systems.
I have been using Xoss G+ for over a year now with magene speed sensor, cadance and Heart rate. Now I’ve been getting weird results on average speed and heart rate when uploaded on xoss app, it says avg 17km/h on the xoss and its actually 34km/h when I uploaded to strava. Im getting c406 as I’m writing this comment, hopefully it wont let me down like G+ did
Great video! I have the Xoss G+, but the button tapping just to see the gradient can make you lose your balance while riding. I'll prolly sell the Xoss and buy the Magene just for the display functionality.
Perhaps an odd question but what can be done (recycling?) with old bike tires in Singapore. Had to replace due to light damage but not sure what to do with old ones. Do not have indoor trainer or could use with it…
Yes. I am using XOSS G+ and most thing that I dislike about it is how they calculate the elevation gain. Very inaccurate with too high elevation gain compare to others bike comp. I already complaint to their developer but so far nothing improve. Thinking to buy magene now..
I’ve bad experiences with cheap cycling computers like Bryton. Maps doesn’t load and crashes, speed is inaccurate and doesn’t auto pause when required -> resulting in low average speeds. Extremely frustrating. My advice would be to save up and get a branded and reliable cycling computer like a Garmin 430 or Wahoo Bolt. Don’t waste your money on cheap cycling computers. Anyway great content.
Hey Oompa! Which specific Bryton model did you purchase? We used Xoss G+, Magene C406 and Wahoo Elemnt Bolt. They all pause automatically when you stop and resume when you move. We did run both Wahoo Bolt and Magene C406 to see if there are any significant differences in terms of the parameters reading after the ride and they were pretty identical. We think the ones that we have tried were of great value at the given price point. A Garmin or Wahoo bike computer definitely goes a long way but we just want to have a feel of different bike computers at a different price point so that we can share with the viewers if they are good or bad. Once again thank you for your honest opinion! Good to see another local channel bike content creator 💪
I also got the issue with the auto-pause on the Magene. It appears that my power meter prevents the Magene to go on pause, since it always transmits some data even when not riding. With no power meter, no issue, which is a shame
Which one of these two display the bigger current speed? Thats matter to me. Also can we customize magene display to Current speed, heart rate, time riding, current time, total km ride, odometer?
Magene and Xoss both have a pretty similar display of current speed. That say, Xoss have a slightly bigger display. In terms of customization for Magene, should be able to have 4-5 parameters display at the same time minimally. We have never tried to display all of the parameters you stated
i'm a little confuse. do i really need extra sensors when using either bike computer? I'm used to using the wired type (cheap) where you put the speed sensor on the wheel poke. Also, i was thinking of getting the xoss but being able to see more data on a single screen and on the app appeal to me even though, I'm only cycling for fun and exercises.
Hi! From what we know, you can't have magene sync with 2 strava accounts. Magene C406 can pair with multiple sensors should you have different bikes for different purpose.
Yes, you can. Having speed sensor will make the reading more accurate and have less fluctuation as there may be scenarios where you will have poor GPS connectivity in certain area.
@Wiser Biker Thanks very much for the in depth review. Tried to enquire on your email but it bounced back. I have a question. You mentioned XOSS is not able to record indoor if I am going to fix that on a trainer or spin bike? Even with a speed sensor? But Magene will work? Trying to get a budget computer and sensor to ride indoors either on trainers or spin bikes... thank you...
It should be able to get speed using gps location to calculate distance traveled by time? Would only need to use speed sensor if gps reception spotty where you ride or indoors.
As far as I know c406 can measure speed without sensor but sometimes it's not accurate many people have same issue so if hou want accurate speed u should get a speed sensor

So for elevation which one is accurate? Xoss/c406?
@@ItemsYouNeedToKnow if you watched the entire video xoss g+ tends to exagerate elevation which is supported by posted data.

I chose Magene only because it displays the clock on the main screen.
Great video! I have the Xoss G+, but the button tapping just to see the gradient can make you lose your balance while riding. I'll prolly sell the Xoss and buy the Magene just for the display functionality.

where is in the Magene c406 bike computer function: ODO, odometer ???
Unresetable mileage...
Not daily, but general!
Which of these upload the ride faster ? Thanks!!
Magene is faster base on our experience :)
Does Magene c406 show real time elevation gain while still using it? I have Xoss G+ and it does not have this feature only showing Altitude.
Good video.
Great review. Just want to know if Magene C406 displays estimated power if it is set in one of the pages? Thanks
Yes. I am using XOSS G+ and most thing that I dislike about it is how they calculate the elevation gain. Very inaccurate with too high elevation gain compare to others bike comp.
I already complaint to their developer but so far nothing improve.

This is my issue with my XOSS G+ also as I have to adjust the elevation in Strava everytime

Hi there. Is the Garmin 430 a cycling computer or just a GPS device for cars? 🤔
Magene c406 have English version also
Hi. thanks for that comparation.. After 1 year, what ciclocomputer o choose for your bike? on this price size?
There are a couple of great options. Coospo BC107, IGPSports BSC100S and Magene C406
@@WiserBiker thanks a lot for that
Great vid. Keep it up
Thank you thank you :D
Couldn't Speed and Distance inaccuracies be related to a wrong wheel size (circumference) input data ?
@Jerry Walsh
The magene C406, on the other end, can use both sensors or GPS.
@@sylvainmichaud2262 they use GPS so why would you have to input your wheelsize for accuracy? Those are for older cycling computers.
Xoss g+ or iGS10s?
Hi i can use the sensors from XOSS to pair with Magene right ?
Absolutely! As long as you have ANT+ or bluetooth sensor, you can pair with most of the bike computer :)
@@WiserBiker ok :) thank you very much for your prompt reply
can

Based on your usage, you dont need sensor.
Hi there again, for your case, you don't really need the extra sensors, the bike computer's GPS would be good enough =)
Can i use one magene c406 with 2 strava accounts? I only have one bike for me and my wife .. and we both have our own stava acc..

Yes, you can. Having speed sensor will make the reading more accurate and have less fluctuation as there may be scenarios where you will have poor GPS connectivity in certain area.
Xoss auto-pause is great!

xoss can use indoor. need speed sensor and can do
Xoss g+ is unrealiable
Hello, I want to ask if you know what is the difference between c406 and c406 lite?
c406 can measure power while c406 doesn't :)
"whatever is not on Strava, did not happen" XD
Hi!
Can the C406 measure speed and cadence at the same time with one sensor.
Or do I have to get 2 sensors?
Thanks !
Hello Sean! You need to have 2 sensors, one for cadence and another for speed.
It should be able to get speed using gps location to calculate distance traveled by time? Would only need to use speed sensor if gps reception spotty where you ride or indoors.

C406 calories calculation is pure rubbish. Not accurate at all.
It's a shit product, don't get it, gps is extremely poor, reliability is extremely poor, customer support is next to non existent
For which product?
Which one is more accurate? or it's the same cuz they have same 4 positioning satellites?
