Excellent explanation!! But what continuously bothers me is how did this machloket start in the 11th century? Wasn't there a mesorah prior to that from the time of the Baraita until the time of Rashi that defined the order placement? What did Soferim prior to Rashi and Rabeinu Tam do? How did this all of a sudden pop up as a difference?

This is why I don’t get caught up in rabbis fights. God knows what’s in ur heart

Great vid! What happens to Tefillin after a person dies? Are they sent to a Genizah or passed down?

Usually they are checked. If they are in good condition they're passed down.

Great and fantastic video, I just watched with my son which helped us understand this subject in our preparation for his Bar Mitavah!

Fascinating! Thank you for all of your hard work making these videos.
If we become wealthy (B'ezrat Hashem) could/should we buy 4 different sets of Tefillin to be on the safe side?

Rabbi, why do Ashkenazi Tefillin have 4 bar Shin on one side of the Shel Rosh and a 3 bar shin on the other side of the Shel Rosh Batim?

I will actually be making a video to explain that in the future, it's a good question. it's not just Ashkenazi it's in every Tefillin.

Excited, but frustrated and fearful too. Sorry for all these questions, but doubt comes from the yetzer hara. How can we not know for sure?
Don't you think it a little strange that Chabad have taken Rav Sar Shalom Ben Boaz (Gaon) Shimusha Rabba's advice on batim size, 4x4 (2 fingers).
Also Chabad , and everyone else, has taken Rav Sar Shalom Ben Boaz (Gaon) Shimusha Rabba's advice with the 4 and 3 sided shin, yet completely ignored his advice about placing from right to left in the batim?

Please educate us further on Shimusha Rabba.
Would you be prepared to sell Tefillin in Shimusha Rabba's parshot order?
Is it written exactly the same as Rashi, by a scribe?
Can any Jew wear Shimusha Rabba Tefillin? Or does one have to be ultra religious, Kosher, pure etc?
Is there any minhag that wear only Shimusha Rabba Tefillin?
    Many thanks.
