- We're shifting gear this week, swapping van life for island life as we park our self converted camper van, Koti, up for a couple of weeks and head off for Santorini. But - the budget remains the same! Tune in to see how we manage to make the most of one of the most exclusive and expensive islands in the Cyclades, without breaking the bank.
We visit one of Greeces oldest lighthouses in Akrotiri, eat our way around some of the more affordable Santorini food spots, and walk the length of the Caldera from Oia to Fira. There are epic views to be enjoyed, and some secret spots that you dont want to miss if you're heading out on your own Greek Island hopping adventure.

Good morning my Darlings! Just watched Santorini episode. Tara, it was great to see you in clothes you don't work in. Love your style and colors, and earrings! As you stride across great distances, clothes flowing in the wind behind you, perfect posture, head high, you are the very picture of a healthy young woman exuding strength and glowing with life. Crusoe's there enjoying the the rocking! John! My Dear! Of course I, and all the ladies love your candor and wit. Humor, and little boy antics that burst from you occasionally are a wonderful thing! Refreshing and always making me smile and laugh, alone with my TV. Now I'm going to give you both the biggest complement you can give a human being:
All your work shared, has changed my entire perspective on life. How incredible to enjoy completely new thoughts, theories, family, child rearing, homemaking, creativity, making a home out of a stony , bamboo jungle. Seeing the world through rose colored glasses with smiles and wonder. Taking in every moment all the way through to your souls.

Thank-you for this video some very sweet memories, walked from Ia to Fira it took us a whole day, we had lunch over a ledge looking over the sea and the caldera what a view. Unforgettable, going back in time when all was calm, sweet and genteel and safe. Thank-you for sharing.🙏💖🌺🥰🥰

Santorini was so much fun! Feels like a lifetime ago that we were casually island hopping around the Greek Islands. Great video. Back in the 1970s I lived on Santorini for a very short time (long story). I really loved it but I'm amazed at the lack of people. Even back then it was teaming with people! Btw, if is my understanding that the name "Smart Car" is ironic. Thanks for the memories. Now back to binge watching your videos!

I was a bit disappointed with Sanorini, way back when in 1988. It was so expensive then, but now - 7 euros for an orange juice....come on....!!! But hey, AC/DC for the kid, he´s gonna be just fine!

Ok so HOW have I missed these videos? I must start watching from my computer! @2:00 John & I sat at that cafe for a few beers! We stayed in Fira Nov 2019, it was fabulous! I know it’s none of my business but my Nosey butt has to ask, how do you guys do all this traveling? Do you earn money somehow?
Hi Donna. Great question. Short answer is that we try very hard not to spend too much money when we travel, for example our last van tour around Europe we did our best to stick to €50 a day spending money. We cook our own food instead of eating out, and travel slow. So, €50 a day is about €1500 a month, which comes from a mix of savings and some remote work that we do to top up the pennies. Let’s see how long we can keep going for. :) Thanks for asking the question. 🙏
