When it comes to first person animations, I'd say not "in a long while" but generally, ever. Genuinely among best of the best animators for first person period.
Incredible work as always! I'm a particularly massive fan of the Calico reloads, I adore how you integrated and represented the sheer weight and bulk of the magazines.
this might be a disappointing answer, but, there's no secret to what i do. in fact, when I got started in animation almost 10 years ago, I didn't look up a tutorial or anything. I just downloaded a rig and felt my way around the software and tried my best. of course, along those years, I've googled "how to use [whatever tool]" dozens of times, but it's hard to make a tutorial on "how to animate". thankfully, there are lots of excellent online courses like iAnimate, AnimationMentor, and others like that.
Because they don't need to hire him their animators are mostly enough for what they are doing he'd be more useful in other studios like treyarch who need good animations and are currently struggling with it (even in bo6 there's some bad animation)
@@FevrDrim I love the fact that you noticed that some animations in BO6 even if they're a huge improvement over Cold War, still are rough and unpolished. Something very few people notice in my experience but on the side of Valve, CS has absolutely laughable animations so I don't think it's a situation where they don't need new/better animators. Obviously, CS is a super competitive game but still, a good presentation can't hurt when it's done the right way.
I can't stress how incredible these look. The people in the animations reload the weapons like actual people (very akin to Battlefield imo), unlike modern cod which is very stiff and robotic looking at times with a veil of "realism", i.e. forced shaking and aggressive jerky movements.
not really "reload like actual people" nor battlefield styled, their animations are very bouncy and cartoonish, emphasizing weight in each movement making it more stylized and it's very cod-coded (just look at the ump reload anim that is a proper imitation of mwiii's)
thank you very much for saying so. personally I take a lot of inspiration from COD, not style all the time but particularly how they push quality ever higher. I have so much respect and admiration for Infinity Ward's team and how they push the quality bar further and further. the perceived "aggressive jerky movements" are conveying power and aptitude behind each movement. if you watch a person really reload a real gun, it's actually really boring looking. in a way, COD reloads nowadays don't simulate how it LOOKS to reload a gun, but rather how it FEELS. and imo, it's a very great effect delivered by lots of great animators.
I agree on the first part, these animations are absolutely insanely good but the fact is that the animation style is pretty much one to one identical to modern CoD animations... obviously, there animations don't look great just cause of the animation style but because the animator is super talented and experienced and knows how to make an excellent and polished looking animation but still, it looks very much like CoD animation and not really similar to Battlefield.
This is absolutely some of the awesomest animations I have seen in a long while. Well done! 👏👏🔥🔥

You're absolutely insane at animating, top tier quality work here.
4:44 I like how they miss the magwell at first. Just one of those touches that make it feel more human.
its very epic

I can't believe the Calico isn't in Black Ops 6. it's an experimental gun from the 90s, literally the perfect gun to include😭

These arms model are really nice, did you made them?

its the same style as COD and I hate it
@cyb-m1g its really not though. This is way more fluid and life like
