    We like to put a magnetic wipe off board on the outside of our door and ask people to write where they are from and if this is a special occasion. It is fun reading what people write. When it gets full, we take a pic, wipe it off and start over. 🙂

    An eyeglass repair kit! First day of our most recent cruise, a screw came loose on my husbands glasses. Fortunately it didn’t fall out, but there were no repair kits for sale and no tiny screwdriver to be found anywhere onboard (even maintenance didn’t have a tiny screwdriver)! He managed to tighten it a bit using my cuticle tool. First port of call, we found a sundry shop that sold those little repair kits, thank goodness! This could have been a major disaster had he lost the screw because he wouldn’t have been able to see anything as his glasses are bifocals. Lesson learned - eyeglass repair kit is now on our “must take” packing list regardless of where or how we are traveling. 🤓

    One thing we wished we had on our last cruise was a disposable, medium size plastic food container, like the ones some lunch meats are packaged in. I save them for using on the boat or at the beach. They are great to pack a few snacks from the buffet to take to your cabin, or even to snack on on your shore excursion. We can throw a couple pieces of whole fruit in our tote bag, but a container for some croissants or cookies would've been nice. I'm definitely bringing one or two on the next cruise. You can pack stuff inside, so they take up no room in your luggage.

    I just want to send a big Thank You to Ilana! I learned so many things that made our trip on NCL Dawn even more enjoyable. I think the best tip was to buy and bring items for the crew since they have little time on shore to shop. I brought Dollarama and Costco items and tried to focus on the "forgotten ones" that work long hard jobs around the ship. The gang on our section, morning , noon, and night, cleanimg or prepping the rooms were shocked when i gave a large box of Feirra Rochas to them to share. And seeing one lone female in this bunch I gave her a bunch of hair, dental stuff that she could share with her friends. She was so shocked saying no-one had ever given her anything before! And I gave another goodie bag to one of the kitchen ladies. I only wish i had more and spent more time looking for other groups. I gave stewards and bar guys the US dollars and loose change from other trips and euros to the buffet crews. Coins from countries we won't revisit can be used or traded by the crew on future cruises.

  • @janellcirkl4709
    @janellcirkl4709 ปีที่แล้ว +39

    Love the tips, have used most of them. Cruised a lot and one tip that I want to SHARE is SAFETY PINS. When going on the excursions you are given a sticker for your blouse,jacket and it often slides off. Just pin the sticker on and it won't curl or slide off. Lots of other people have commented to us that they wish they had pins to. I generally just carry medium size safety pins and leave it in my case with my passport. I sometimes have more than I need in case I loose one and I have given them out to others as well. I won't cruise without them.

    I always include laundry supplies when I cruise. I try to limit how many items of clothes I bring. I use washing soda so I measure it into snack size baggies, add a detergent pod with pretreat/softener in it. Add a few fabric sheets for just refreshing clothes in a separate baggie. I have a tide pen too. Add wrinkle release and a small spray bottle of fabric finish if i just HAVE to iron, and I have a perfect travel laundry kit in a spare packing cube. Well now I'll add the hamper and laundry bag. I have always just used the free hotel laundry bags until now. Just one other thing. I bought a set of huggable hangers in burnt orange to match my luggage( very easy to find, lol) that are only for traveling. very light weight and I can hang as I take out of the dryer or allow to air dry. Some items i picked up from the dollar tree were the towel clips for those who might dry their towels out on their balcony. and post it notes to leave little notes for housekeeping or other people sharing a cabin. I also get the lint rollers.

    One thing I found at the dollar tree was travel straws. They fold up and go into a tiny case. It also comes with cleaning utensils for them. This will be my 1ST cruise, but I've heard the drinks don't come with straws. So we bought one for each of us going on the cruise 😊

    Thanks for all your informative videos! They've been a great help as I get ready for next month's cruise. One thing our local Dollar Tree has is a small phone cord/ear buds holder that zips closed. It's smaller than the palm of my hand and will fit easily in my pocket or purse. I'm taking my phone and Kindle and they both use the same cord size so less to pack.

    We do Christmas cruises and so the dollar tree version of command strips/hooks and their decorations were great for our door. I found the magnet clips to not have strong enough glue and the magnet would stay on the wall but the clip wouldn’t. Sent my friend out the door on her first cruise with a four pack of magnetic clips, a three plug adapter, sticky notes, two highlighters and a cute thing for her door. I suggested she pick up the thank you notes but don't think she did. My bag has all the above and more! They're extra large clothespins are actually towel clips so those are in my bag and I have thank you notes at home and I will be putting in my word search book. This is one of the best channels and I do have her book and it is awesome and worth every penny! Bye for now!

      @@1200kristy I followed alot of tips, didnt need 90 percent of them. Magnetic clips, etc werent necessary. Dont worry about any extras, bring clothes for dinner and the pool, Skip dressy shorts etc. You are either in pools or out to dinner. We way over packed. Sunscreen, is good, but all of the extras are unnecessary. I bought a hat and swimsuit coverup for 10 dollars each on first day of cruise. Never used any first aid supplies. I got sick 3 days into cruise, bring advil, any aasthma meds and asperin, otherwise dont over plan or pack. We never used dress shorts and tops, the solarium was the perfect spot. Swimsuits and coverup, was all that was needed til dinner.

    I always get the travel sizes of any aloe or sanitizer, etc. there. They won't have all the essentials, but they often have name-brand travel versions there, which would cost more in the retail stores. For example, I just got a tube of "Gold Bond" there with aloe for sunburns. as well as the spritz bottles of hand sanitizer. They sometimes have OTC medications there as well, such as Tylenol, in the travel tubes, which can be handy. Since my niece is traveling with me, we often get travel games for her there, such as "Monopoly" or "Bingo". She loves to draw, so we often get her coloring and drawing supplies there for the trip. Since we're a family of readers, we'll often get ourselves books there as well. Oh and I also have a First Aid kit that I bought for work initially from there.
