Middle-eastern air captain, why did he choose to live in Chengdu?

Ian has been an airplane captain for 12 years in the middle-east, and a year and a half in Chengdu.
He said, the reasons I chose Chengdu, firstly is its geographical location, for the fact it is very convenient to go to all cities in China. And there are so much good food. Chengdu people are so welcoming, and the rents are much cheaper. It is a very special place to him.
