I love hearing the logic behind what a top player is doing in a set. There are many things that would normally fly over my head if I watched with no commentary, and it gives a great glimpse into how differently they think when playing.

@@MarioSMG64 definitely a pro player, reaching top player status is a whole different story. I'd say if you are ranked top 50 in the PGR, then you are a top player.

Here’s some tips for the Kazuya matchup.
1. Don’t always DI out when he EWGFs you. Kazuyas love it when you don’t mix up your di and that’s how he kept getting you. Di in some more, if he reads that too, just keep mixing it up.
2. As Falcon, just do a bunch of aerials- dairs, bairs, and what not. Kazuya has a hard time punishing those because they’re pretty lagless and you can space them away. Up b is also a good option because he kept waiting for you to come in with a move and space it or shield it, up b’s and grabs have that covered
3. At ledge, jump a lot or stand still and bait his side b’s, his biggest weaknesses are his disadvantage state and being at ledge.
4. Run back and forth a lot between hits and stuff, Kazuya is slow and it’ll result to them getting impatient and throwing a lot of options
I think the best way to learn the Kazuya match up too is to play him a bit. Get used to all his moves, know what’s invincible, what’s laggy, what combos, etc. Also saying this because I really wanna watch you learn how to EWGF : ) he becomes one of the most fun characters after you become consistent with that move
Imagine having to look at frame data (which move have I-frames) just to be on able to combat them, like wat???
Not to mention that most of Kazuya’s 0-deaths aren’t actually true, but he can just react to DI. So in that case you have to figure out how to DI properly so you can stay out of the EWGF “combos.”
If they know how to use their i-frames tho a lot of that doesnt work since they can just opt to throw out frame 1 invincible moves instead of shielding or spot dodging. So if they think you’re gonna space an aerial on their shield, they wont just shield and will instead throw out an invincible move as you’re gonna touch the shield. So it kinda becomes more about using falcon’s insane speed to mix up your approach timing so they cant tell when to use the i-frames. Randomly pausing slightly before approaching and calling them out pressing buttons out of hit stun and stuff (since frame 1 invincible is the best defensive option)

@@mikachu9649 that too, every Kazuya plays slightly different. More aggro and less safe or pretty defensive. I think it becomes quite noticeable in a match, so if they’re playing more with their moves than defensive options, bait and punish is the play. The i-frame moves either have a lot of end lag or a super short time window of invincibility, so there’s that

Big tip about Kazuya matchup. They look for your initial DI from the blue streak emitted from his stun attacks. Though you can change your DI to another direction prior to actually getting sent upward. So essentially, you can DI in the opposite direction of your initial DI to cross them up and make them miss their punish. (Actual tip from riddles, Kazuya scares me but that information makes him slightly less scary)

Good job! I came 3rd in a college tournament once. I lost to a Kazuya along the way. He wasn't good at Kazuya, but at the game in general (he basically mains random, it's crazy) I would've won, but he did some 4-hit combo that did like 60 and I ended up losing. This is the one character I think the CPU plays better than me :)

For the Kazuya match up, many Kazuyas tend to play super aggressive at ledge, and you can use this. If you stayed closer to roll distance, and punished the EWGF that cane after the neutral getup, you might have won. Also, switching your di during the move is a good way to trip them up. Next time you’ll get that dub
Tip for fighting kazuya: change your di every ewgf so that they mess up the punish, also if they go for ewgf, nair, uptilt you can escape it with good di

@@Veckler not necessarily. It’s what they’ve always done, sure. But if they really wanted to they could update entire characters to function completely differently at anytime, as long as they saw a need/reason to.
The issue is, now that the DLC is done and no game breaking glitches exist, and it’s (relatively) balanced, they just don’t have reasons to anymore. People will buy the game and DLC still and so they don’t need to care about losing sales with a few characters having questionable things or being like “man we could make Ganon cooler if we gave him magic” or actual character reworks, let alone balance patches

The problem with Kazuya is, that you need to know him really well to be able to fight a good Kazuya. Upper-Body invulnerability, super armor, ranges, how to escape each combo path etc.
Imagine practicing super hard with your main for your local then getting smacked around every week by Poppt1 mucking around with a random character for TH-cam content

As a Falcon main here are a couple of tips
1. Raptor boost in neutral
2. Use more dash attack and bair
3. Start combos using raptor boost and nair 1

Not even socially acceptable, the character is genuinely the definition of "Paid DLC". As a Steve main, I'll admit Steve carries as well, but Kazuya is next level in the evolution "You paid 6 dollars for this dude."

@@KangasKong9944 kills you at 65 by guessing DI on the ground, he literally doesn't need to jump till you're in a combo. Oh, and he has a mostly invincible dash if you do it right.
@Zooker Literally said that Steve is also a "Paid DLC" character, I know he's annoying but he's interesting so I play him. Kazuya on the other hand has way more bullshit then Steve. He does more damage than Steve, kills way easier than Steve, has better movement than Steve. The 2 things I'd say Steve has over Kazuya is a better recovery and can camp.

Kazuya is actually such a broken character, I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t have them in elite smash.

Make sure to watch Riddles or Tarik’s videos on how to DI Kazuya combos. They can look at your DI line during electric wind god fist and just loop you if you don’t constantly change your DI during the hitlag of it
Invite that Kaz onto the channel and have him teach you how to fight against the shotos.

poppt I don't know if you know that but to escape kazuya combos off ewgf, you have to di it one way when you get hit by it, and then change your di at the last second of its effect so that the kazuya player has to guess your di and adapt the combo.
I don't know if that makes sense but that's what riddles said.

Kazuya is invincible during the zap punch and during the crouch dash which can be abused with the wave dash trick. That’s why he goes through your kicks and other moves.

R.I.P. to the poor falcon, Kazuya seserves to burn in the pk-fires of hell. Honestly it mostly is either 1. Stupid stun move that combos into a charged up smash or a zero to death, 2. Way to strong armor, 3 invincibility for what? Or 4. Once per stock comandgrab that kills mario with good di at around 70% maybe more maybe less (but probably less). And other stupid stuff of his 80 (exagerated) moves (its 38 btw)
The best thing (as far as i have played the matchup) was using projectiles/swords so he doesnt hit you. It is not fun to look at or to play against.

Good job as always, you looked really good, but YIKES you need to learn the Kazuya matchup. People freak out because he has a lot of moves but several are very similar and some are basically never used, take a little bit of time and you’ll learn what to watch out for in general. EWGF beats a lot of approaches and has good invincibility with the crouch dash, but as an approach tool itself it’s not nearly as good. Mix up your approaches and timings and try to get them antsy to get a hit. Approaching Kazuya is much less effective than patiently reacting Kazuya.
Above all, realize that his hitboxes are really stumpy and even if you miss a punish on something that doesn’t mean it isn’t laggy. Dragon uppercut is a big commitment and there’s a good period of time to hit him for it, just not as late as you’d think. His body part invincibility is not worth challenging, so don’t. If you play reactionary at a short to mid range, especially with someone as fast as Falcon, Kazuya has very few means to close the distance and you can punish those laggy options. Just don’t get overwhelmed, and learn when to capitalize, capitalize, capitalize on whiffs and mistakes.

Hey poppit I saw your last video and commented on it about Brazilian jiujitsu and if you did not see it I am trying now. I have done jiujitsu for 4 years now and have never been majorly injured sure I have hatred a finger or two but nothing like a broken bone. I would 100% recommend it. It's fun rewarding and a workout
