It was a tight fit. The trickiest bit was re-coupling the trailer without the top of the tractor unit hitting the building. It was at an angle too, so had no way of seeing where the trailer pin was too! Skills

Money is spent on housing illegal immigrants in hotels. It is now 5 billion + every year and growing as more arrive. Look at it this way, the government spending on roads is 24 billion. So a 5th of the road budget is used to house illegals in hotels. That doesn't cover everything like spending money etc for them, that 5 billion is just for the hotels.

Well that is great to see!
Myself and a team of 4 others made this mock up around 2012 ish. We manufactured a total of 3. 2 full scale, and the 1st just the front section when the original design was to have the HTP rocket on top and the jet engine on the bottom.
John Baker(Bakers Patterns) did an incredible job of machined the tooling for us in polystyrene from which we took moulds. Happy to see the model in good shape after all these years , it has done some serious mileage all over the globe.
The real carbon monocoque was made by URT a great company sadly not around any more, it was made up of very talented composite engineers who previously had worked at G-Force in Fontwell West Sussex who made the Thrust SSC main space frame front composite nose /nacelle and carbon intakes.

Absolutely fascinating. Those of us of a certain age will recall Bluebird's record runs. The engineering challenge here is immense. Fluid dynamic modeling is in a non-linear range approaching the speed of sound (1170 feet or 345 meters per second). While that clearly has been done for aircraft, this has a very different boundary condition, the ground where at the surface the airspeed is nearly zero, comparatively. Surely Richard Branson and Virgin should be interested. All the luck to the team in achieving this STEM goal.

I really do hope this gets up and running again. I've always been inspired by land speed record cars and the technology involved. You often here people saying 'what's the point, it's not relevant' etc.. but it's about pushing boundaries, education, science and engineering ... If I landed a massive euromillions win, I'd be funding this tomorrow. Not driving it mind you ... 🤣

I was lucky enough to go to Avonmouth on my birthday in 2016 and see this car being assembled at the industrial estate where the project was based. I met Richard Noble who signed my corgi model I bought on the day. I saw the car as in its disassembled state, the jet engine and the fuel tanks, the carbon fibre monocoque etc. It was in its original blue and orange livery. I saw all the African test runs as well - I so hope they get the funds to go to the original 1000mph they talked about back in 2014 - 800mph is that stepping stone. So good to see Bloodhound re-live.

This vehicle is truly inspiring. It will inspire kids to achieve at a higher level. It has "poster power"! That's where someone, any age, sticks a poster, or large picture, on a wall they glance at occasionally. Sometimes the poster is a car, a woman, or man, a rocket ship, movie poster, a lion. But this thing would go on my wall, if it hits 1k mph. And I'm 74.
    Good Luck, and happy driving!

This car has seemed like vapourware for the last decade , and it did seem like it was getting real just prior to 2020 but as we are now in the 15th year of development (Thrust SSC only took 5) this cars story has kind of always felt very odd and capped off (I always wondered if they were looking for a race with the North American Eagle akin to Spirit of America - Formula Shell LSRV and the Thrust SSC in 1997). I really do hope it eventually gets a go with a rocket along with the new management. Good luck Bloodhound!

They need to run it somewhere else besides bonneville
The bonneville salt flats are way different today than 1997. Climate change has led to different levels of rainfall and salt has been leeching out of the flats for decades as its not being replenished as fast as its being removed by nature.
Potash mining nearby has to do with this also.
The flats reached its peak in area in 1994
Today it is less than half that size. These guys are dreaming a pipe dream if thats where they are going to attempt a run. Speed week was almost canceled this year due to rain and it was canceled in 2022
Australia has a promising lake bed of similar size that does not have this problem.
