  • Today we snagged a reservation at one of the hardest to get dining spots on Disney World property - the newish, Space 220 Restaurant in Epcot. This is a pretty expensive restaurant that tries to immerse its patrons 220 miles above Florida to dine in space. Does it live up to the hype? Let's check it out. Enjoy!

My mom and I have started a list of places we want to eat at/food we want to try because of their recommendations. I'd just like to say, my daughter and I ate there as well back in the first week of April. She got us reservations at the last minute and we decided to try it. Yeah we get it, that it's all hyped up. But we still wanted to try it. Well I am a money miser, penny pincher and I can't stand paying a lot for food, especially at Disney. So we were sat on the lounge level at a table across from the bar. Not bad. We never buy drinks of any sort, we are non alcohol drinkers. We drink water only for meals. That saved some money. We ordered from the limited menu for the lounge and I'm glad we did. WAY TOO EXPENSIVE! We got two appetizers and shared. We had the same as yall, the cauliflower and they were good. We also got the brisket sliders with fries and they were actually good as well. We found out later that even if you are seated in the lounge that you can still order the full dinner menu, but we knew how expensive it was so we settled for two appetizers. It was plenty and we got a snack later. The atmosphere was ok, nothing to write home about. The space scenes were like, yeah, cool, ok, well I looked at it, that's enough for me. It just wasn't a big deal. There was no excitement in it at all. This whole presentation is certainly not over the top as it has been hyped up to be. It was more noisy in there than I prefer, but I dealt with it. My opinion, this is a "one time" place to eat and check out the "cheesiness" experience. I have to say that our food was good. I have no complaints about the food at all. I mean it was battered and friend cauliflower with a buffalo type sauce which was good, at least to me. My daughter wasn't crazy about it. The sliders were very good and the fries were good as well. They weren't over cooked or undercooked. I have to admit the fries were quite good. So bottom line: food was good, no complaints except for the price. Atmosphere, ambience, thrill, experience- not so much. Too cheesy, too hyped up, and not as exciting as we all have heard, as we all know, Disney is experts at over hyping up something new, when we all know it is not as great as they make you think it is. Prime example: the failed new Star Wars Hotel experience. I've seen plenty of videos on that terrible experience. So lastly, would I eat at Space 220 again? Maybe, and that's a very HUGE maybe. But mostly, I never will again.

I just found your channel last week. You guys are great! We are going to Space 220 next month, but at the recommendation of several vloggers, we have reservations for the lounge. A couple of appetizers for our table of 7 (and after your review of the drinks), and a couple of soft drinks, we will be off to the Flower and Garden Festival booths for creative and delicious food. We'll tip appropriately, as if everyone ordered a drink and an appetizer, but we don't want to fill up here when there is so much great food just footsteps away.

I felt like you went in with a negative mindset. My boyfriend loves the elite dangerous game and I think he'd absolutely love this!! Went to a restaurant in China and was a bit underwhelmed, but the food was DELICIOUS!! And that was almost $300 with annual discount. I like the 4.5 rating. I think the experience of the restaurant itself is more important here than the ambiance (meaning the kids running around and the staring girl) . It's easier than you think to zone people out that are around you. And I would've just maybe smiled and asked if there was something I could help that person with (the staring girl). I feel like speaking up is the biggest component here.

Yeh, I went to the Space 220 Lounge. For the average family, the prices for lunch and dinner I feel are too "out of this world". In other words, it's a once and done thing. Like many people, we are getting a little upset, yes upset with Disney and these prices. We love Disney, but we also know what it's like to be a parent and the costs of just regular things with having kids these days let alone also on vacation.

Space 220 is the hardest restaurant for me to give advice on as I do think it is a unique and cool experience (and that is something I look for at Disney), and I will say I enjoyed the food more than it seems like you did (it wasn't great, but it was good) - but the price is such a killer. If lunch was $39 instead of $55 be a lot easier to take. So, I do say if you are really wanting to try it, go for it as I think the food is good enough and the experience unique, but firmly a 1 and done for us

We did Space 220 for the first time a few weeks ago, and WTF?! My first impression was that it actually looks better on IG and TH-cam than in person. It felt sooo cheap! Your basically paying out the ass to sit in front of a big screen that looks like google earth! Random objects float around in the distance but fail to ever challenge our sense of visual scale, they just seem like small toy models. So much room for improvement, but that starts with getting rid of Chapek and getting back to WDW as a leading standard for theme park entertainment.

I think it’s important for people viewing this to know you can book the lounge instead of the traditional dining. I really enjoyed the lounge experience because there was no prefixed cost, I got a decent drink and a good appetizer. That being said 100% everything is over priced for quality, but the lounge is priced a la carte so you don’t have to be saddled with a huge bill! So if you were really looking forward to seeing the restaurant for the theming but don’t want the disappointment look into a lounge reservation!:)

I have to agree: Space220 = very underwhelming. We also had our first try at The Creperie last trip and just as underwhelming for the cost.
Our Calamari seemed like it sat under a heat lamp for 30 minutes. The short rib sliders, one had a piece of meat, -no lie-, the size of a millimeter thick postage stamp. It was lost on the tiny slider bun.
Creperie was equally a let down. Boring, not as good as the cart, they make you pay if you want whip creme on the dessert crepe. Really?! The coffee served lukewarm with no flavor.
I really wanted to love these places. Gosh we’ve been tracking Space220 for years waiting for it to open. The Creperie was a let down. Even the food booths are more and more a let down. Epcot food game is riding on past glory. Resort dining is where it is at today. They don’t take you for granted.

Thank you for saving me from spending so much money on a not great experience. I had really wanted to go when i saw the concept, but i kept having to talk myself into the amount of money for such little food. If the food is just mediocre, it isnt even worth it. I know I can do better at Boma or O'Hana for just as much.

If you can get a lounge reservation there, it’s a great way to experience the atmosphere without being forced to purchase all the food

When I saw the prices for this place, I knew it was going to be like Rainforest Cafe: you're paying for theming, not food. However, RC doesn't cost $400 for a small family to eat there! Hard pass on this place.

Yes, this is like the Castle 🏰. One and done ✔ if you want the "experience ", but highly over priced for mediocre at best food. Not worth the money-at all. 👎If you just have to see it then do the lounge-it's much cheaper. Though the drinks 🍸 are sadly, not any better. 🤣

$400?! 😱 For that kind of money I can go to V & A. Granted $400 in space would be for a small family. However, if I’m spending $400 on a dining experience, my butt munchers are staying home with some chick-fil- a and mommy is out. ✌️

I went the other day and was very dissaponited. I sat by the window and couldn't see anything because of the reflection of the lights. The food was just ok, nothing spectacular. Not worth what they charge.

Thank you!! I am definitely NOT going now.
And for those of you with terrible parents with rotten children, you should stay home and or be taxed for your awful behavior. I have been in the hospitality industry as a server/ bartender for 27 years. I have absolutely no patience for this kind of experience.

Ooh, I would love to see a parent tax for poor parenting!! Having spent some time in hospitality, can’t imagine 27 years, but thank you…it’s a service that is much needed and under appreciated

The only part of the review I take issue with is the ambiance. I don’t think you can blame a restaurant (where children are allowed) for the awful ambiance, because it’s a case of bad luck. At some of my favorite restaurants, I’ve had singular awful experiences because I happened to be seated near wild children. Let’s blame the parents of those children and not the restaurant. To also be fair, I think the lady who kept looking over at you did so because you captured her interest by vlogging, which is odd to see, and she was just perpetually nosy after that. I’d like to give the lady who didn’t seat you near the window the benefit of the doubt that she truly thought you’d be getting a better vantage point to take in the whole visual experience by not sitting right next to the window. With open window tables available, she can’t possibly have an ulterior motive to lie to you.

This is a poorly operated and owned restaurant by Delaware north and Disney would of done better, but then again Be our Guest sucked and that’s Disney
