The R. Jhunjhunwala Sankara Eye Hospital is a state-of-the-art eye hospital coming up in the city of Varanasi.
The Rakesh Jhunjhunwala Foundation has generously contributed 50% of the land and construction costs as well as the operational costs till self-sufficiency is reached. At full capacity, this 225-bed super-specialty eye hospital will perform 30,000 free eye surgeries annually. The hospital will be inaugurated on October 20, 2024.
The Varanasi hospital’s location is ideally suited to serve people from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Nepal. The hospital will function on a cross-subsidization model wherein the income from paying patients will offset the costs of free surgeries for those in need.
