My challenge with IV Games is that they produce 07/10 games at a 10/10 production level and a 13/10 price tag. How is Fractured Sky different than it won't end up sitting near a 7.6 on BGG and being able to buy it at 10% off the campaign price on the secondhand market like you can with their other games?
They have great marketing but there is no way the deluxe is worth $129+shipping. Zombicide, Cthulhu DMD, Oathsworn and a huge list of other games offer way more content for cheaper.
I think 7.6 BGG rating is generous. I suspect a 6.5-7/10 . Decent game most likely, but not worth the price tag. It's weird that CMON gets a lot of flak and IV studios gets a pass on price tags.
The retail edition looks extremely mediocre. It will not do well in retail. Why get this when you could get a game like scythe with cool mech minis and no pieces of cardboard? Extremely disappointing that the retail version is basically just an all carboard edition. I'm sure the profit margins are better but is it worth it in the long run for them?
Just played my KS edition last night. Loved the quality, the ONLY problem I have with the cloth board is that some of the "connectors" that show where a market or tower attaches to, are faint and some colors are difficult to see. VERY minor though, everything else is awesome and I look forward to many plays in the future.
So expensive. I'm fine with the retail version, but after shipping, it will be nearly a 70 dollar game! There's not enough there to warrant that kind of price. Even though I backed the deluxe day 1, every day I'm getting closer and closer to dropping my pledge and waiting until I can get it second-hand. If I can't get it, oh well.
Back responsibly always. It is a high produced IV studios game that is over the top production values. That does command a price that isn't maybe the average but the mouth feel on components will be top notch.
to be much better the game needs cards of the ships with weapon (1,2) and Hall (0,1,2) and 6 (two)dice (*,0,1,2,3) to have attack other ships in same control area
I tried to reply to you on the Liege of Games channel but somehow my comments over there did not show up. In any case They have great marketing but there is no way the deluxe is worth $129+shipping. Zombicide, Cthulhu DMD, Oathsworn and a huge list of other games offer way more content for cheaper.
Thanks for the overview, looking forward to the campaign! I got a chance to see the game in action at Unpub a few weeks ago. Will the neoprene mat fit in the deluxe box?
I guess I have to actually watch a play through of this now. This is such a beautiful presentation, but I just don't know if there is enough game there for this to make it into my collection full time.
The gameplay is simple enough, but can be quite strategic. As a whole, there's really not much to the game. You can get JOTL for like 40 bucks and literally get 3 or 4 times more content, both materials and gameplay.
@@naturesfinest2408 what??? I mean they talkn about it being in retail as is it's going to big box stores. IV games has only done "retail" on their website.
Very smart idea to do a deluxe and retail edition. Some people don't want all the deluxe stuff. I don't know who they are, but those strange folk are out there :)
for most people it's most likely not that they don't _want_ to have the deluxe stuff, just that they can't afford the high price points deluxe products necessarily need to have
@@NinjarioPicmin Yeah, I commented before they added that little tidbit. I deleted my comment, but not before you saw it.😊😊 I'm still having a hard time with the deluxe pricing though. I don't think I'd be happy with the retail version after seeing the deluxe.
Pibb Xtra is absolutely not just a dollar-store knockoff of Dr. Pepper. If that were the case, there wouldn't be movie theaters, theme parks, etc, that serve Pibb over Pepper. Also it's just flat out the better drink. Tell me you haven't had Pibb recently without telling me you haven't had Pibb recently
I understand that box would be bigger, but still too bad you They didn't make it Foundation of Rome style for even quicker setup. Make it an option guys and I will be there to pick it up :)
Really appreciate going through all the differences between the two versions. Keep up the excellent work coming from both teams!!! Now that the CONTENT has been addressed, the most important part of this video was the Dr. Pepper shake from Whataburger. As a former Texan god I miss Whataburger hahaha

Perfect way to put it Tim! If the Deluxe version was like $70-80 then sure, but at its current price I’ll just wait for a sale at retail
For me the game has been advertised so heavily to me that I already resent it. Every single video I watch has at least one fractured sky ad.
Yea, it ended up being way more expensive than I expected for the deluxe. Somehow Zombicide looks like a better deal by comparison.

Can you fit the neoprene mat in the deluxe or super deluxe box?
They confirmed the playmat will not fix in either Deluxe box

I'd be fine with each faction just having some unique abilities, or some sort of expansion content.
Based on the components, I was expecting it to be

$250 CAD before shipping…KS is getting out of hand
Super excited for this! I can’t wait.
What about the "Super Deluxe" version?
Ty for this video!
Quack!
And what about Mr. Pepper?
Do you know the Deluxe box size by chance?
I don’t!
Price Point is WAY too expensive for my taste.
The retail is a $30-$40 game max.
I want to know more about the Super deluxe version. Particularly how the ships and towers look painted.

There's definitely enough game in there! Its simple on rules, but has tons of depth. A truly elegant game!

That was literally the title/point of the video - to compare retail vs KS deluxe components.
Paid reviews ftw...
