My brother runs pressure gauges on his airbags. Aftet a few loads you can look at the gauges and have a pretty good idea of whats on the truck
In Canada the company that loads you is also responsible for the overload. So the scales are always working.

Yeah been there done that they think cuz it's on the truck u wont come back & every time they get little more little more.but I wasnt comeing out of thereover loaded & iam sucking it up on fines I was one of the frist to go back & I had some nerve asking them to take some off! Lol 0 I told that dum ass to either lightning it up or take all of it off & dont care either way they wasnt long taken some off & dot was just waiting daily for us to come out of there it's like they where working to gether lol take care & god bless

Sitting at an intersection near Lancaster, PA, I saw a car came past me, run red light...flatbed with a load of plate steel...got stopped just past the intersection (car never stopped)....steel went straight into truck headache rack (that had proper tiedown mounts), pushed rack into back of cab, pushed cab off frame, then everything stopped. Driver was unhurt...truck totaled.
Gary, Indiana area, lots of ruined trailers from coils pulling in floor tiedowns and rubrail pockets off...and coils rolling off....typically 4 tiedown points ruined...not using enough tiedowns to spread the stress.
Ownesboro, KY...watched a side kit flat cut corner...first axle on spread went into drainage ditch, then as the second one entered....2 large skidded aluminum coils came through the side kit....never were tied in place.
Always been a great area for me to catch loads especially the shipper, no names, where they galvanized the steel at, BUT I never hauled lumber from THERE!
My hubs hated it in Birmingham also. His truck broke down there once. Be safe out there. Safe travels you guys and doggies.

My dads had back issues his whole life. Fused spine and neck. Serious issues. He had surgeries, injections, everything. What helped him the most was working out and stretching. Need to build up those back muscles!

Hey I used to haul out of that place for 13 years and they never had any scales when I was there. They were getting strict the last time I hauled from there. It used to be called transload but it's called something else now. The forklift drivers used to be very accommodating.

P-nut oil is the best . Big difference in the meat its worth it for the higher oil . But it will still be good deep frying is the way to go . Be safe

Yummy I love turkey cooked in recycled mack oil.
You would think these places would have scales on their towmotors. I have hauled gravel, where they have scales on their loaders. That's how some these places charge for the product.
Turkey less than 15 pounds (or smaller, 12 pound is what I do) is best and in a small frying pot takes only 3 gallons. 3 minutes per pound. 20 pounder takes too long and yes it takes an enormous amount of oil since you have to use a large pot and over cooks the wings if you want to eat them.

I understand why they can't tell you what it weighs because wood absorbs moisture. Weight verys on time of year. Dry sand weighs less than wet sand. So just my two cents.

Alabama weight laws are very different you can be 110,000 as long as you stay on state roads and they always send the trucks through residential neighborhoods rather than downtown same way in Montgomery like a tri-axle dump truck can be 82000 on state roads but you can't run them on the interstate because of the Bridge law on single unit vehicles but some County Roads you turn down they have a 16000 axle weight limit Alabama and Tennessee are real different when it comes to their weight laws

I sat at 2 shippers for over 7 hours each just before Christmas. Had to cancel both loads because I'd have missed my delivery times.

Lumber is super easy. Any competent worker should be able to tell you within 50 pounds of how much a bundle weighs just off from counting how many boards there are. Most everything for building is kiln dried already its not like your picking up rough cut from a mill or something.

Next time you put on lumber use this calculation - the number of cubic feet of wood times 45. See how close that gets ... there are some websites that give the weight of specific kinds of wood per cubic foot.. but you are correct - they should know what each bundle of that wood weighs and I bet they do. But the fork lift drivers just load what their told and dont give a shit - so if you ask them what anything weighs your wasting your breath...

Yeah. A guy I worked with a long time ago had a guy he was training.
THe trainee was in the crawlspace and was drilling a floor penetration upward into the living space. Well, the bit jams and after a few good tugs, pulls the bit back down thru the floor. Its covered in blood. Turned out, he drilled into a cat that was sleeping in the corner of the room above. Of course the cat died from the wound.
That is a story so bizarre, it is almost unbelievable.

Robert, each piece of lumber weighs differently due to moisture content it doesn't all dry the same. They probably have some kind of formula to load which looks like it worked. BTE nice butt ...lmao 😏 😜
