- Pinan/Heian 4 Bunkai - Part One | Les Bubka
Many karateka see Bunkai as clean directly applied techniques where in reality they are messy and half executed.
Ugly looking functional techniques are very far removed from clean and formalised movements in kata, applying them under the pressure brings the ugliness and a form to life.

The hiji-saseuke as a crank makes very good sense. Thank you for sharing.
Glad you like it, thank you for watching
Great video
Thank you 🙏
My JKA instructor in UK never showed any bunkai 😢. Thanks for enlightening.
You welcome, there is many schools that still not do Bunkai. Which is ok if you chosen that type of karate know it upfront. In the UK there is loads of great Bunkai teachers. Thank you for watching
@@lesbubka totally, unfortunately (for me) I consider doing forms in any style without interpretation of the application of the moves is a total waste of time. This is what Bruce referred to as 'vertical death', if I recall correctly. Thanks again!
@@jimmyntee that’s why I said I formed decision, loads of karate clubs are not clear what they teach.
