Sadly Josh once said that the guitar parts of some songs are not written to match the vocals and it would be very difficult for him to play and sing (After Lifeless Years Is an example)
@@MardyBum100291 I feel like no matter how good the new material of a band/musician is a lot of fans will prefer their older material and a big factor in that is nostalgia. Just a general thought.
It started with Iommi. Continued with Hetfield & Schuldiner. Josh Middleton is without doubt a riff lord. Banger after banger, Sylosis doesn’t disappoint. I hope for more success for this band, they certainly deserve it.
Besides absolutely loving the song, I'm watching the shit out of this video just to get them as much views as possible so that they finally break through and become a household name as they should be.
Josh is such a goddamn genius, what a musician and what a band. I hope this single gets a lot of attention because Sylosis deserves it, they should be much bigger than they are, easily one of the best metal bands in the business. Anyway this song is a banger definitely thought this was a step up from heavy is the crown, Josh’s clean vocals sound awesome in this too

He’s prob always gonna go back to Sylosis, that’s his baby. Architects is a nice career for Josh because they’re much bigger so he prob makes a much better living off that but Sylosis will always be his baby and brainchild. Only 3 years between the upcoming album and the last album too which is a pretty damn good turn sound for a guy who’s in another band that’s much bigger
Ali has had a big hand in making Bleed From Within as epic as they are🤘🏻

How come they sound EVEN MORE like Slip' here than they did on Conclusion?
That clean bridge section towards the end gives me life! Always wanted to see more of this stuff from Sylosis. Josh's melodic vocals really shine when he lets them sit higher in the mix.
I hope that there are more sections like this in the album to come.

@@CollinRapp33 so do I, conclusion of an age when I first heard that was everything I'd ever wanted in a metal band. Thrashy, screams and cleans plus awesome riffs and solos. Still loved every album after but I missed the cleans.

@@lu1zh16 I don't think they want to. Besides, Monolith was a great follow up to EotE, even if people don't dig it as much. I think we should all just enjoy the fact Josh came back and revived Sylosis (even if I sometimes miss the old sylosis stuff), they will still play older stuff live, so it's all good!
@@tomassedlacek8202 I like the older songs that seems like it's really telling a story with distinct intros that takes time to breathe and build up atmosphere, then it gets down to business with sick riffs and rhythmic hooks, then it might take more time to breathe and slow down and then build back up for energetic crescendo. The Bereaved, COAA, Last Remaining Light, Apparitions. The newer stuff sounds like it's designed to be more of a radio song.
@@user-mq4xp1gq3q i share the same feeling, these last few songs (beginning with Worship) have been more radio friendly. I don't blame Josh for trying to make the music more "accessible" to a broader range of people. If after over 20 years of being a band this is what needs to happen for Sylosis to grow, then I'm all for it. The old albums will always be there and they will still also play the old music live 😇
@@tomassedlacek8202 I agree. Their new stuff is still better than most other bands out there today, but the earlier stuff feels a bit more epic to listen. What you described can be seen with many bands with long careers where they deviate from their initial sound. Sometimes it works out for the better like with Pantera, but then sometimes not like with Metallica and In Flames. Fewer bands can stay consistent over such a long career, like Overkill.

Sylosis have always been a great band but they are getting better and better. Glad to see that Josh's work with Architects doesn't stop him from continuing to grow his own band. Josh is without doubt one of the best frontman/singer/guitarist of his generation along with Matt K. Heafy.
architects went full retards and sold out. so its definatly easier for him to focus on sylosis.

as i remember , his fries were always high enough, it shows his capabilities as a singer, just from the top of my mind chorus in Mercy. He just did not use cleans much, but IMO he should :)

wow. this was tight all around. Vocals were deep growl, high growl, singing.... the rhythms were tight and that solo was clean af. I never listen to this style but man, this was polished and everything was definitely sculpted to sound good because everything fit and there weren't any harsh frequencies in the drums or guitars. Easy to listen to even though the overall impression was loud and aggressive. I say 5 stars out of 5!

Even tho' this is a banger, I do really miss the melodic sad stuff of Edge of the earth, Josh's way to write sad stuff is incredible, songs like Apparitions or Were the sky ends are golden.

Commented on someone else's that the chord progressions during the cleans and chorus are pretty dark and remind a lot of EotE; and the lyrics are dark AF and well written, and those cleans too...
I do love EotE, still my fave album, I hope this one can come anywhere close to what that captured - so far things are looking good from the strength of this.
Still the most underrated and under appreciated band out there.
Singing is back???????? The melodic and prog elements of Sylosis were always my favorite, so it was a little bit of a bummer when they 180'd on their style. Still really good stuff, just missed the things I fell in love with them for. With the re-inclusion of singing, I am definitely feeling good! Hell yea, I hope there are more instances spread across the album like your older records. :)

I listen to these guys since 2011 and I always dig their music, butt they outdid themselves with this one, look... I'm not listening to anything new (I tried lots of recent bands that I "like" but they all lack something) but I can totally listen to this, makes me happy to find good new music!

I think this is just another loose single just like heavy is the crown. When heavy came out there was a statement from the band that said it was the first of 3 singles that didn’t really fit the album, so I assume deadwood is #2 and then there will be a 3rd followed by stuff from the album

When heavy released Josh said that was the first of 3 singles they had that didn’t fit the album that they were gonna release so I assume deadwood is the 2nd of those 3 singles then after the 3rd one stuff from the actual album should follow
