+MJofLakeland1 This is Ex-Fairfield ransit 631. It originally had a 6V92TA/Allison HT-748 powertrain. It was converted to CNG and repowered with this Series 50G/Allison B400R by the current operator. As for CNG Phantoms, LAX did have some 1994 Cummins L10G Phantoms.
I think this same engine/transmission combo is what was in PAT's Phantom buses before they were all retired. Not a Series 50, but a 50G; that clears up a lot for me.
+THE NEW FLYER BUS MAN Thanks for sharing this! It does sound the same as the LACMTA NABIs, slightly different from its diesel counterpart! And it's true, hard to believe they converted a Phantom from diesel to CNG!
@@SonicFan-xv3xuI got more of the NABI vibes from this video due to the Allison 2nd gear thump heard around 2:14, but the turbo flutter (or backfire) gives me C40LF vibes.
The idle loops at 1:07-1:14 are truly epic!
I KNOW, I TRULY LOVE THIS BUS AND THEY DONT RUN IT AROUND DISNEY ANYMORE
It's still around though. Frank's The Bus owns it.
A CNG Phantom once existed?... News to me plus this bus sounded beautiful. A momentous capture.
+MJofLakeland1 This could very well be a very rare factory LNG phantom!
XN40 Channel (Mike H) That's raising the bar. Hopefully this will be around for a while longer.
Only a few agencies had them. I know tri met had 2 and la airports had 35' models and Dallas had some.

Amazing they converted a 6v92 phantom to series 50g. Not sure how many of these conversions exist.
Wow Gillig should have entered the CNG market long ago!!! They would have been such great buses!!
This is the only Gillig I like
Why is that?? Gilligs are great!!
That almost sound like Orion v
Goodness!!! That turbo flutter from a gas engine of that size is incredible

Sounds awesome. I approve of the repower (which is something I rarely do). :P
That bus you see is a Ex LA Metro NABI 40LFW.
what year of DD50G
For some reason, I get vibes of both the C40LF and Orion VII.
sonicboy678 Same here bro 😎
LA Airports could be a potential operator as they were one of the few operators of the LNG phantom!
Yep they had legit CNG Phantoms in the 90's; L10G's.
Thank you, I hate Gillig now but LOVE this Gillig Phantom.
