Man, this gives such a good perspective of how competitive this is. Some spots it seemed like you were the ball in a pinball game. A lot of bar banging going on. Thanks for the video, Joe! Great race!
This explains why pro tour riders are doing quite well in this race, having the experience fighting for position and being stubborn on not making space comes in handy
Joe finished only 20' down on winner, in a group with Freddy Ovett, Ted King, & Jan Bakelants; 15' ahead Adam Roberge, Petr Vakoc, Thomas Dekker, Daniel Oss, Lauren Ten Dam, & Nikki Terpstra; 24' up on Ian Boswell, Sean Fincham, & Andrew Dillman. Hot Damn!
This first-person footage makes me glad I don't have the biomechanical skills to cycle at this level. I'm not nearly brave enough. Fantastic effort and congratulations. Pit crews are the best.
Thanks for the fast upload, Joe. YT algos gonna reward you 🙃 There were a handful of aggressive movements on that pack that could easily end up on half of the field down. It's quite shocking to see this early sketchiness on a +320 kms race when there's still a looot to unfold. I guess this is the game now with the professionalisation of the sport...
I mean after that long of a race there is like what ? 2mins in the top five, 10 in top ten ? That's crazy how much that's close. One mistake or mis positionning early on garentees you are not top ten or heck top twenty
Thank you so much, so much, so much, for showing the real deal, what it's like to be out there. It's a perspective that just can't be had from a chopper.
AWESOME!! Great riding, Joe. Bummer on the flat, but there's no doubt you can compete at this level. Keep up the great work and great videos! Props to your support crew.
Thanks Eric! Would have been fun to see where I would have ended up without the flat with how good I felt, but still a solid day out on the bike and a ride to be proud of!
Great video, Joe!! You were right there the whole time and going strong!!! Looking forward to your great commentary on an upcoming video on your Unbound race.
Here's the difference in elite and lower level riders.... excellent bike handling skills and no one's yelling at anyone. Seriously, you have great pack riding skills, great finish.
That’s super impressive, congratulations. I definitely don’t want to ride with that many other people. I’m down for a 200mi ride, but I’ll stick with an ITT.
So wild that the biggest USA bike race depends on the rides action cam for video of the event. Thanks for doing the promoters job. Does anyone know Keegan's & Sofia's stories?
So intense and violent at the pointy end of the race. Crazy stuff. Its like you are just trying to survive, not crash or get swarmed by everyone around you. Wow!
Thank you for the exciting video! I am just a recreational rider, so, I really appreciate the seeing how hard all you all ride and compete. Look forward to your next video.
Thank you for the great in-race video! I echo many comments about how crazy and tight packed the racing was - reminds me of road and crit racing when I did that years ago. That train crossing with the gates down looked sketchy, I hope everyone made it safely..
Just simply couldn't do this even if I were in good enough shape. I'm a nervous wreck just watching this. Great race Joe. Bad luck with the tire. Surprised that doesn't happen more on that terrain.
Great race, enjoyed the pacing and control. Did a great job staying in the peloton on the up hills. Sorry about the flat, but if it wasn't for that. the way it was looking for you, you would have been fighting for the top 10. Congrats, 29th place out of 120 is great.
Nice save there when you crossed wheels in that super chunky section. I thought you were going down for sure. Also congrats on the top 30 finish. That was a beyond stacked field. I have questions about the number plates. First , what’s the point of making everyone have a big plate on the front and then also pin a number to their back ? Second, what’s the difference between the colors of the pinned numbers and why does it seem like some people aren’t wearing them at all?
Thank you, think the numbers go back to something about the spirit of gravel 🤔. I’d be good with seat post numbers like they do in pro road races. Elite men were supposed to all be green, not sure what the other colors were for..
I always envy these pros who can make a million decisions before the race and still have enough care to add a camera for others to enjoy. Amazing.

This footage is insane! Literally rubbing elbows and racing against the world champ! Amazing race Joe. 💪
Great effort, amazing footage and thank you for leaving the original sound and not adding horrible music.
You guys are nuts. I rode those sections alone and they were sketchy. Top 30 in that field is a great result, nice job
This first-person footage makes me glad I don't have the biomechanical skills to cycle at this level. I'm not nearly brave enough. Fantastic effort and congratulations. Pit crews are the best.
i was thinking the same thing ;)
SPEED IS RIDICULOUS! 😲😲😲

Congratulations Joe! For keeping up with the top 20 and thank you for providing us this inside look of the race.🎉❤
Impossible to find the right words to describe this amazing footage, you guys are half human half god! Thank you so much for sharing!
Haha thank you, maybe half human half a little bit nutz!
dude! keep doing the vids! you can actually feel the ruthless speed and tenacity emanating from from this front group!
I look at the shaking arms to get perspective as to how rocky it is. Well done!
Wow! The start feels like a So Cal Criterium race! Nice positioning throughout Joe. You are a true Warrior!
Insane, best first person footage I’ve seen, that riding is Next Level skill and grit, well done💪👏👏👏
Thank you so much, so much, so much, for showing the real deal, what it's like to be out there. It's a perspective that just can't be had from a chopper.
WOW....very exciting to watch this footage. Thanks so much for posting and good luck with the rest of the season.
Nerve of steel and a set of steel balls… both required at this level. Great job… appreciate sharing your experience.
Great feel for the race from your footage. Thanks, and well done!
Great footage. Thank you for sharing. Must be very stressful in the bunch at racespeed. Respect.
Wow. Phenomenal footage. Thanks for sharing!!
Congrats on 29th. Excellent result!
Thank you!
The way you bomb the descents in a pack🤯...absolute trust.
Amazing piece. Thanks for sharing.
I like seeing the old school world tour pros so chill in the peloton. Ten Dam looks so in his element amongst the group.
That was mesmerising watching that, incredible speeds, nice job man!!
Just brilliant. Thanks for sharing. It was a nice day, for a change. You'all just kill me how fast you down the chunky stuff.
This gives me goosebumps. Such great footage 🚵♂️
Joe, congratulations on an awesome race!!!! And thank you for your videos. I always watch them while in the trainer.
Great video, Joe!! You were right there the whole time and going strong!!! Looking forward to your great commentary on an upcoming video on your Unbound race.
Congratulations ! Thanks for sharing that ...
Thanks for filming, insane performance
22:00 that elbow guy...
This is a great video, thank you!
Yeah, totally unnecessary. Luckily it didn't end with a crash.
@@lloydjarm I agree
@@lloydjarm unfortunately the unclipped rider probably had to waste a lot to get back. Uncalled for indeed though
That was Keegan's wing man throwing the elbow I believe
just watched again, wrong kit, my bad!
Here's the difference in elite and lower level riders.... excellent bike handling skills and no one's yelling at anyone.
Seriously, you have great pack riding skills, great finish.
Man, that is just insane. Brovo for finishing. I'm all tuckered out just watching! ;-)
So cool! Thank you
Hectic brutality with so many opportunities for disaster! Much respect!!
Shout out to your Team(help) Great Job, Great Race & coverage💯👍👊
Amazing to watch this and to just have this playing while I work away at a desk.
Great job man! You and dylan the only youtubers i have been watching. I can’t say anything but job well done. Cheers man!🎉
That’s super impressive, congratulations. I definitely don’t want to ride with that many other people. I’m down for a 200mi ride, but I’ll stick with an ITT.
Good job! Great video
So wild that the biggest USA bike race depends on the rides action cam for video of the event. Thanks for doing the promoters job. Does anyone know Keegan's & Sofia's stories?
They had a helicopter and other vehicles filming for lifetime and their 1hour ish highlights video will be out within the next day or two I believe!
Holy Shiiiiiiooot, no messing around! Great job!!
Fighting for position inside the peloton is harder than riding the rough terrain
So intense and violent at the pointy end of the race. Crazy stuff. Its like you are just trying to survive, not crash or get swarmed by everyone around you. Wow!
This was cool! Thanks. it definitely shows how rocky the route could get, and how close you're getting in bunches!
Great job Joe..You had an awesome race..Thanks for the footage!.
Thank you for watching!
Thank you for the exciting video! I am just a recreational rider, so, I really appreciate the seeing how hard all you all ride and compete. Look forward to your next video.
Congratulations Joe, really nice footage again. Images pumped my heart, I felt like I was there in 2018 DK 200. Thank you.
Thank you for watching!
@@jgoettl2.0 i watched many of your videos, very inspiring particularly when zwifting.
What an amazing piece of film. Insane bike handling and balls of steel. Fantastic effort mate on both fronts
thanks for this mate, amazing race by you along with the care for a video footage, i know it is not easy, thanks again!
Thank you for the vid. Was neat getting an inside look of the elite front group.
You have the best content for this type of stuff. Keep it up.
Awesome footage and congrats on the great ride! Easing into the UB200 ain't no thing anymore - Game on from the gun!
Great race 😅 thanks for the video .
This is absolutely freaking insane!
Thank you for the great in-race video! I echo many comments about how crazy and tight packed the racing was - reminds me of road and crit racing when I did that years ago. That train crossing with the gates down looked sketchy, I hope everyone made it safely..
Thank you! They had people there in construction vests waiving us to go through so I’m assuming they controlled the train there 🤔
That was amazing footage. Thanks for uploading, and well done.
Amazing footage at the front - super sketchy up there!
Nice footage and awesome speeds. Recognized some Dutchies, Thomas/Laurens/Niki. Thanks for sharing
One of the best footages, cheers!
Great vantage for an awesome race. Thank you!
Fine race and very informative footage! So cool to see you rubbing elbows with Ovett, Mohoric, Swenson, Lachy, and more.
Thanks Kyle!
Thanks for sharing this. Wow I was riveted watching that.
What a special inside view, thanks so much for taking the effort of racing with a cam!
16:36 Mahoric stretched out the group 🦵
Very nice footage! Looking forward to more!
Thank for the footage. This was amazing
Fantastic footage. Definitely have been in 1 hour crits less aggressive than this. Takes guts and insane fitness.
Just simply couldn't do this even if I were in good enough shape. I'm a nervous wreck just watching this. Great race Joe. Bad luck with the tire. Surprised that doesn't happen more on that terrain.
Great footage of the pointy end! Awesome and thanks!!!
Great race Joe! Love the vids

Holy crap. Good view of how hard this is.
Great race, enjoyed the pacing and control. Did a great job staying in the peloton on the up hills. Sorry about the flat, but if it wasn't for that. the way it was looking for you, you would have been fighting for the top 10. Congrats, 29th place out of 120 is great.
Great perspective! You rode your heart out!
Great Race Joe! Keep it up. I'm looking forward to the full analysis.

Wow, as much mental exhaustion as physical. Great video coverage & race
Thank you for watching!
That. Was. Intense!
