Around the Block

on 27th May 2023, Feilding and District Steam Rail Society run their 2nd "Around the Block" train of 2023 and their last charter excursion with the capital connection rolling stock. DFB 7049 on train B06 trundling along during slight rainy but tranquil weather. DFB 7049 initially ran southbound via kapiti coast on train B37 and back to feilding on B06. additionally, this charter is much different compared to many in the past, due to a hefty land slip in the northern wairarapa line and therefore, they had to recalculate the route. 7049 hauled the train from Woodville - Palmerston North - Wellington.

also would like to note that unfortunately, i was unable myself, to see the first Around the Block of 2023 earlier this year mainly due to significant events that were mandatory for me. but overall, this is a delightful experience!
