Brenda's cast as the lead in the school play -- and her understudy isn't happy! #BeverlyHills90210 | Now streaming on Paramount+ Where to watch: para.mt/90210
I love Brenda taking the instinct to refer to Maggie by her full name, a true method acting style. It's a shame that we never got a spin off of Brenda breaking into the acting world, due to Shannen Doherty having been fired. Though, she appeared on the spinoff, at least.
Tabloid rumors at the time were that Aaron Spelling was transferring Brenda over to Melrose Place, where Brenda would move into the building and pursue her acting career
I had never heard that rumor but wish it happened. She could have been Sydney’s roommate since Syd was about 90210 age. She could be the level-headed one, although both would clash with Amanda. Brenda could be reduced to doing commercials for D&D and pull that “call me Margaret” routine and Woodward would be like “bitch, save it for Broadway, you’re selling deodorant”. The Melrose cast was more mature and drama-free. So either Doherty would thrive there or know she’s the problem.
I have never understood this arc. Anyone who would have been friends with Brenda would have known that sleeping her way to the top is just not her style. Under any circumstances.
I can kind of understand since Brenda had been acting super impulsive all season (ditching college in Minnesota, almost eloping, breaking into the animal lab).
Her erratic behavior was escalating so I can see how her friends might wonder what she would do next. She also gave that angry speech at the beach house about how the part belongs to her. Also who could have seen Andrea getting pregnant and married at “19” (lol) or David becoming a meth addict or Brandon hooking up with a married chick? These are all young characters who are figuring things out and going to make mistakes.
It’s unfair to judge the gang too harshly since this storyline went out of its way to make it seem like Brenda did Randolph for the part. Between her terrible audition and the “will she or won’t she” cliffhanger most reasonable people would assume casting couch. To paraphrase Brenda herself “if it walks like a duck up to Roy Randolph’s front door in the middle of the night…”
@@diana_prince_1 She spread lies about Brenda and Randolph sleeping together, thereby getting the part of Maggie. So he fired her ass..right in front of the whole cast.
Yea I remember that part, I was honestly shocked about the fact that Laura nearly tried to sabotage Brenda's life by getting her kicked off the show so that she could get the role of Maggie herself. I honestly believe that Laura was just jealous of her.
Last time on Beverly Hills, 90210. Brenda and Laura competed against each other in the auditions for the lead role of Maggie in the school play. Laura nailed her audition perfectly, while Brenda choked on stage. However Brenda showed up on Roy Randolph's door and gave a private audition.
Brenda was in College and she was in the play and then Steve spread rumors about her sleeping with Randolph and some actors will go to extremes to get a part just to be noticed and adored. Its Hollywood and Hollywood is corrupted and I was an extra in Deep Impact in 1998 and I did acting only community theater but I had small parts. I think that if your ambitions are to sleep with the director like Brenda did then Laura was no different. They both were ambitous young girls that wanted the part of Maggie the only thing is that Laura wanted to hurt Brenda and get her out of the way. Didn't Steve mention to the gang that Laura was so angry with Brenda that she wanted to do a Tanya Harding! Tanya Harding knock Nancy Kerrigan in the knee and everyone heard that WHY! Tonya Harding was banned from Skating and she paid her dues and if she knew about the attack on Nancy she did feel bad for Nancy and it was a huge story. People are like that I guess Its crazy. People will go to extremes to get what they want. NOT ME!
@@JimmyJiveJones She begged Roy for another unfair chance after hours (no she didn't sleep with him.) Sure, she gave a good reading in private, but she hadn't proved she could get past stage-fright enough to NOT freeze in front of an actual audience with a spotlight on her (part of the audition experience is to check for that too.) If Roy was as genius of a director as this show made him out to be, he would have known that and NOT cast her based on a private reading.
Laura is a great psycho. The actress is beautiful but great at seeming unhinged even though she isn’t doing anything particularly nutty in this scene. She might even be creepier than that Tara chick, although that was a more bonkers storyline.
God! These are the final episodes of the Brenda Walsh era.
till this day Heavenly Brenda (Shannen) is and always will be my American Idol.
Indeed!

A spinoff with Brenda in London would have been cool.

It was like Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding. Where Brenda was Nancy and Laura was Tonya
Steve putting things into Laura’s crazy 🤪 head 😳
When I first saw this, I thought he was gonna coach Laura. NOT DATE HER
He ended up aiding and abetting a basket case
Nice going Steve. NOT ONLY did you help Laura steal the spotlight and spread rumors about Brenda. You helped put the entire play in jeopardy

Now kelly on the other hand....

Brenda’s beauty peaked season 4
she ded
Steve should have shown up at rehearsal looking for Randolph.
Steve turned on Brenda for a psycho.
Can you please post the part when Randolph tells Laura to get lost? PLEASE!
Oh he did? Why? I don't remember! 😮

@@lindsayvanas7125She has low esteem
I’d forgotten that at first, Steve did stick up for Brenda when Laura said that Randolph is famous for sleeping with his leading ladies.
Brenda got the lead role after showing up at Roy's door for a private audition. And Laura didn't like it ONE BIT
Steve acting like he got away with rape. He should have just left her alone.
Wait, where is he "acting" like he got away with rape? They had legitimately made up by this episode.

Who will get the lead roll and who will get second fiddle. Find out right now, on Beverly Hills, 90210
I undersrand Laura... It didn't seem fair at all!
The answer to the title card? Yes, she should.
Coming up on Beverly Hills, 90210. Laura's loss of the lead will anger her so much. Let's just say Laura was willing to some extreme measures
Laura ended up becoming the main antagonist of the Roy Randolph play arc
Laura tries playing by the theaters rules. But her bad mental state will drive her to take extreme measures to get what she wants
If Laura doesn't get what she wants or gets mad, she was willing to resort to, SABOTAGE
That’s next on Beverly Hills, 90210
Wish Brandon told the chancellor he wasn't interested in Clare.
In a way, HE EVENTUALLY DID

This wasn’t Hollywood. This was a school play.
Can't blame Laura for being a bit peeved
Didn't brenda blow her audition but still end up getting the part.......

When did Steve actually get over Kelly? Laura looks a lot like her. Lol
Poor Brenda, Laura Kingman was a lunatic and Steve Sanders was an even bigger nut for getting mixed up with her again.
Kelly 2.0
How old was Claire when her mom died?

I see what you're saying, I did notice that she was jealous of Brenda and obviously was trying to do something to her that I thought was messed up.

I think Brenda was jealous of Laura. You never see Brenda’s audition in full. Going to the director’s house after dark was unfair and jealous.
Chancellor Arnold wasn't happy regarding Claire's wild night at her prom
Brandon wanted to tell him about Claire's antics and her rebellious ways
