I will unleash plagues upon the world if these two don't do a duet album. just drums and vibes
Hold on there Thanos
Drum breaks for the ages
Legends recognise legends. I need that double bill show so bad. Would even be sick if we got an EP where black midi covers mdou moctar (vice versa)
Heartfelt. The immense appreciation is palpable. Morgan is so patient and respectful! Souleymane is so humble and eager to show his own appreciation. This kind of footage is so invaluable. Thank you, Morgan and Souleymane.
The drummer is actually Souleymane Ibrahim, Mdou Moctar's drummer who records and tours with him
@@yungclownfish24 Aaaah dude, I see this now, thank you for correcting me!
@@yungclownfish24 Correction has been made. Thanks again.
Morgan's humbleness is just contagious!
Rough Trade: please make this collaboration happen. We want an album & tour!
What would they be called - Black Moctar or Mdou Midi?
midi moctar
Both names sound badass
midouctar
I need free jazz/improvisation album with these two drumming and a band
couldnt have said it better myself
This is a perfect juxtaposition of amazing drummers being amazing for different reasons, made all the more sweet by the obvious mutual appreciation
I would just DIE to see them on a double bill
This in incredible. I found both bands independently, both have become favorites of mine, and I never could have imagined their drummers meeting up like this.
Thank you so much. Two of my favorite bands and drummers in the world. Something I didn’t know I needed.
black midi x mdou moctar tour pleaze
Such good vibes. I love both of these bands man. I'd absolutely love to see them all playing together sometime.
a black midi and mdou moctar show would bang
I never saw this coming. I would love love love to hear an album with these two
Now this made me think of all the serendipitous encounters of different legendary musicians in studios and their subsequent improv jams that didn't get captured in video like this
Omg these dudes got the BEATS and I'm here for it. I like the drums in both black midi and Mdou Moctar songs, hearing the drummers from both bands play together is a real treat!
Oh my god, I would love to see them both again. This is so heart-warming
they are both just irrationally good at what they do
I needed this. Great drummers all around.
An absolute pleasure to watch these 2 together
Someone look me in the eyes and tell me Morgan isn’t the best drummer in the world. And mean it. $1 million.
psh I'll lie for one milly, no problem
I'm lookin you straight in the eyeballs right now...... Larnell Lewis
1 Million please.
@@TheBeeFactory different Styles
@@GerkoRodriguez Yes. Very different. Could I name a better experimental rock/jazz fusion drummer? I guess not... but, he didn't specify what style. He just said best drummer. I named a better one.
@@TheBeeFactory black midi its not jazz, so yeah, he is not exaclty better, different styles
This makes me happy, thank you guys
This was awesome, very wholesome and much cool ass drumming
SO GOOOOOD ❤️
So much joy.
Mdou Moctar's drummer became one of my favorite drummers a few weeks ago and I do not even know his name.
Wow, just speachless
the ending is so beautiful and pure.
two legends of our time here, glad this happened. would be awesome to hear some sort of collaboration at some point, not even necessarily of the full bands (though that would yield some wild results), but something like zach hill and friends' drumgasm
Love this
This is heart-warming.
Saw both of them 4 months apart in my city, would pay tickets again to see a show with both of them in the same venue.
Unexpectedly wholesome ending!!!!
This collaboration was made for me oh my god
A true DREAM: Mdou Moctar & black midi playing a show together.
beautiful video
I love it when multiple drumsets are firing off!
77 Boa Drum by Boredoms is the extreme example - piece of history!
Upsilon Acrux is the more sustainable math rock example - rad band!
Here we have joy and improv - so cool *edit: duh! SIMPSON AND MOCTAR or MOCTAR AND SIMPSON make a record!!
77 Boa Drum still one of the wildest things ive heard
Ah dang, Upsilon Acrux is a name I don’t see too often. Always loved Last Train Out. Nubya Garcia’s 5ive also has some amazing double-drummer action on a couple of tracks, and it’s wonderful.
I was also working on a double percussionist project this year with a super talented friend, but life gets in the way so hopefully the future will behold better creative surroundings. Percussion is just so uniquely inspiring!
@@vvviiixxx8745 hey cool! thanks for sharing your vids - percussion is awesome, digging these wild beats happening - two brains mooorrree pooowwweerrr ha
@@clumsiii heck, thanks! Definitely just shouting videos into the void these days, but it’s nice to know some people care. Likewise, thanks for sharing the strange and entertaining vids on your channel!
@@vvviiixxx8745 some of my favs from Reid's channel are "corner of a room" "ESPN" and
"oaks" (*craiglist actors found in nyc, never met before, same day vid) - he sometimes likes to talent scout on craigslist for $20 or so. The voice on corner of a room is his father. it's so nuts i just love it
that bit at the end where they're playing to sugar just reminded me so much of ornette coleman, so sick.
Montreal awaits you two.
I fucking love morgan
Insane drummer
Seeing Both Black Midi and Mdou Moctar throughout March. Gonna be fucking insane
hell fucken yeah
Música. Love on muy heart
Morgan a saint
So fuckin cool
That’s Jazz baby.
rad!
❤❤❤
This is how we win
A record with double drums would be spectacular with these guys
WHAT A CROSSOVER! Just needs Cavs from Gizz and i would be creamin
Please PLEASE release the whole thing! Need to know what happened in those impros :')
ooofffffff
Damn
real
Also would love to check them cymbal setup up close ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Nothing betters double drummers.
Does anyone know what ride cymbal Morgan uses, I know it’s a Istanbul traditional just not sure what kind
Go off I guess
tbe
Sounds similar to Birdman Soundtrack by Antonio Sanchez
Can anyone identify the beat Souleymane is playing at 1:59? It could be improvised obviously but since I don't listen to Mdou Moctar I wonder if anyone here knows it from a song? I'd love to hear it and be able to study it for more than a few seconds haha.
It's "Chismiten" from Mdou Moctar's album Afrique Victime. They did a drum video for it too: th-cam.com/video/0BuxVXkoV7A/w-d-xo.html
@@TheSummerflu thank you!
People keep asking for an album with these two, but they already *did* that, twice! They're both playing on each other's albums. Just listen to those albums and you will hear them play together! Practice gratefulness...!!
Imagine a Steve Albini produced Black Midi album…
TBE
Western Music is saturated. Try cultural based rock music like "The Hu" from Mongolia, THEY ROCK BRO.
