Miss Kent is 85 years old. Still beautiful. It is so wonderful to have her on tape to speak about things. John Clifford describes her greatness in his social media. Balanchine adored her. Clifford said, in essence, that he is still awed by her. Gelsey Kirkland, in her autobiography, described being in the wings and watching Ms. Kent on stage and crying because Kent's dancing was so beautiful.
What a pleasure it is to see your videos. My mother would have loved them. I'm Ali Mason and one of eight children Jane Mason adopted, she often spoke of you and Mr B. Thank you ❤
I just saw this as Allegra called me...she said OOOOO, Jane Mason and the memories flooded in. She said she sent her adopted children to Switzerland for education. She thought she was very interesting and wonderful. She said she was on her first European tour and she might have been 18. She said Jerry Robbins was very meant to her. She wants you to know that she loved your mother and she was interesting and great. The corps girls were mean to her which made her mad because they were very foolish.
I loved getting to stand behind Allegra sometimes in Willy burhmann s class back in the day. What an honor it always in the presence of one of the goddesses. Each generation only produces a few goddesses but each of them unforgettable
It was wonderful to hear Allegra's recounting of NYCB's 1962 Russian tour! I can only imagine how emotional this was for Mr. B! I can well understand how the Russians loved her for she was a marvelous dancer and she obviously survived dancing all those performances where others suffered injuries!
I adore this woman. Thank God I am not alone in this! Why on earth has she not received a national honor? At any rate, she is a complete inspiration for all of us, no matter what we do in life. Thank you for these irreplaceable films❤️
Hi Allegra in 1978 we met at David Howard’s evening class. You came and we are so excited to see you David was a good friend of mine and he told me you wrote “ adult beginner” on your card we gave to the front desk for them to notate how many classes we had paid for. Somehow I was lucky enough that you stood next to me at the bar. As I know something about classical music everytime the pianist played I said to you the name of the piece. After that you and I stood next to me at the bar. Two things happened which I never forgot. One was you told me never to imitate you at the bar as that would hurt my technique. And second one day you got on point and put her hand out to let me feel your balance on point. I had never felt a ballerina so light on her feet. Or a balance so perfect. It was an experience I never forgot. The other students at David’s were jealous that you befriended me in class. Thank you for that. What a great experience for me
