    I've been so much better about moisturizing and wearing sunscreen since I started watching your channel! My problem right now is, I seem to sweat a lot on my face. I never noticed before because it would just evaporate with nothing on my face. But now I'm sweating bullets and shiny (not oily- I have dry skin).

    Dr Dray, I am 58 with normal skin with no problems. I use cerave hydrating cleanser, Tretenoin .1% followed with cerave moisturizer pm. In the am I cleanse and follow with moisturizer then sunscreen. Do you recommend anything else that would be beneficial for "mature" skin?? The hype is overwhelming!! Vitamin c seems, peptides, acids, oils, blah blah blah. I'm not looking for "anti-aging" but simply ingredients/products that would be beneficial!

    Great video! The way that I shave my face is with a man's Gillette double bladed razor. I lather with my favorite cleanser and shave as a man would. It gives me no irritation and silky smooth skin. I also use BP afterwards to prevent breakouts. It is great skincare!

    Hi Dr. Dray:
    Thanks for the follow up re: shaving. Why do you prefer to use a Tinkle razor rather than a razor like the Mach 3? I have fine, dark hair & use wax strips. I'd like to try shaving but am worried about a shadow appearing in between shaves. How does your hair look & feel in between shaves?
    On another note, could you please talk about acne care for teens & teens? I'd like to know more about the use of retinoids for them and sunscreen options. Things that parents should look out for or bring up at a doctor's appointment.
    The other issue is shaving recommendations for your teens with acne. Thank you.

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      i don' prefer them to another...i have only done this a handful of times and there are a lot of tinkle razors in that box for me to get through before i try another razor; the hair is fine b/w shaves...no stubble feel

    I shave my face too and I approach it like a man would. My husband says that multiple blade razors cut down on the irritation so I am using a 6 blade razor for my face. I apply my husband's shaving gel and moisturize immediately afterwards. Both the razor and a gel are from Dollar Shave Club.

    I have keratosis pilaris and the only thing I've ever found to help it is to exfoliate every single day in the shower. The derm I had as a kid said it would go away by the time I was married. He lied pretty hard! I have always had acne on my chin. What should I do for this? I get contact dermatitis from a lot of soaps and shampoos. I only use organic or at least natural stuff now. I could never lather that stuff on my face that you use. It made me breakout just watching you! My question is, if I get my face laser reconstructed while I have acne, will it stop my acne or is there any point? I don't have cystic acne anymore, but I still have the chin pimples. Whats the best thing for this? It's really ridiculous. Years!

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Yeah KP is a chronic skin condition that usually comes and goes, occasionally goes away, but for the most part persists into adulthood. Acne on the chin in adulthood warrants a return visit to your dermatologist for evaluation and management, as their a variety of conditions in that area, that look like acne, but are not acne and therefore have a unique management plan. Depending on the wavelength of laser selected, there can be some improvement in oiliness and redness, but it is marginal and the studies are not really compelling.

    So glad you mentioned laser hair removal. I'm very fair with light brown hair. My dermatologist and the laser absolutely changed my life! About fifteen years ago, I went from Chewbacca to smooth-as-silk. I'm post menopause and there's not a hair on my chinny chin-chin. Yeehaw!

    From a male with sensitive skin the Aveeno sensitive skin shave gel is the best. Keep in mind even that has a ph of 8. pH balanced shaving cream tends to cause ingrown hairs. The higher ph weakens the facial hair.

    I have been using the Flawless battery operated shaver for facial hair removal and love it (saw it first on Hot and Flashy video). Absolutely no irritation, and it works on fine hair and the heavier upper lip hair. I use it approximately every 2 weeks.

    Thank you for this! For years I've wondered how I could deal with my lady 'stache aside from plucking/threading/waxing which just cause more problems! Have you considered using an electric shaver? Someone on your first shaving video suggested the Panasonic Arc5 - it's expensive (~$120), but seems worth it to avoid cutting yourself, reduce (or eliminate?) the potential for infection, reduce the need for additional products, and, as a bonus, cut out disposable products.

    What a wonderful abstract! Social media can unfortunately be detrimental if used inappropriately, but as form of “real time” education, it’s fabulous! If hospitals and private practices can craft the proper policy, medical education and breakthroughs could be shared with the world! Great job and good luck! Also, what are your thoughts on at home laser hair removal? I purchased a Tria a couple of years ago and it saved my life. I had extreme hereditary facial hair and was embarrassed to walk out of the house without full coverage foundation. Now, I shave once a week and use Tria for touch ups weekly.

    Hi Dr. Dray I am 23 and have PCOS which causes excessive facial hair growth. I have shaved my face since I was a teenager and for some reason I had no trouble with my skin then. Now a days my skin seems to be going through rapid aging and dryness that I'm doing my best to counter with good skincare. I do suffer from light irritation from my facial shaving that I try to hold off on doing for as long as I can (it is hard because I am so self conscious about the hair). I wait about 3 days between shaving as that's as long as I can comfortably go. Do you think I should be dry shaving or wet shaving? I have experimented with both throughout my shaving years but now that I am trying to be more gentle on my skin I wonder which is best. Is every 3 days too soon to reshave? And I also go back and forth between shaving with eyebrow razors and multiblade razors; which do you recommend? I use nonirritating products but thanks to your recommendation I feel that I will benefit from using BP after my upcoming shaves to help with light exfoliation to avoid the razor bumps I sometimes get after shaving. Thanks for another helpful video and sorry for such a long post!

    Rinse your razors with boiling water afterwards or before use. No need to throw them away. Just using them once is wasteful you can get many goes from one razors - plus they just go to landfill (well they do in the uk) I know you said that you use them again for parcels etc this is just for others who might read this x

    To shave my face I use Aveeno daily moisturizing lotion and a bic razor with a movable head. I change out the blade once a week. I do that before I shower and before I wash my face in the shower. I don’t get any ingrown hairs and I don’t get any rash. I have dry skin and I have a history of atopic eczema. I also get intermittent viral rashes but the shaving doesn’t cause any problem. I have PCOS which causes my mild hirsuitism. I don’t shave my legs or my tummy, I use an epilator. It’s brutal but the effect lasts for a while and my legs and my arms are more sensitive than my face (go figure!)

As far as those animal mugs go, they are so cute (I love animals). What I do if I just have to have it is use them for toothbrushes, or other things it can hold on a counter or bathroom. Too cute to pass up for me. Too hard to drink from. I agree.

      laser is better, but the type of laser used and the settings are very important, particularly in darker skin tones, so as to not put the person at risk for hyperpigmenation

    Dr dray, I have pcos which causes facial hair in sideburns and chin. I have had numerous laser sessions which has cut the regrowth about 60%. But I still grow facial hair in both areas and it is kind of a lot. I have to shave my face just about every morning. If I don’t, by the middle of the day I am regretting it. Basically my concern is I am now seeing textured skin in the shaving areas. Almost like tiny ice pick scars that acne can make. And I am self conscious about it. I will try your products and do it at night but my concern is if I shave every night will these products irritate my skin?

      My "thought," as in what is the most appropriate course of action, is that all new/changing or "worrisome to you" moles should be properly evaluated by a treating physician and, if warranted, referral to a dermatologist for further evaluation and management.

    Hi! I shave with a men's double bladed razor on dry skin to increase exfoliation. I apply Paula's Choice 2% Beta hydroxide leave on toner and follow with vit c and 50 spf. Shaving dry skin is a lot like dermaplaning and although I occasionally nick myself, I generally remove a lot of surface cells and villous hair and it smooths my skin nicely. Removing the outer skin layer also improves product penetration and allows foundation to perform better too.

    As always, great video! I’m wondering what your thoughts are on shaving with an electric razor? I like the benefits of shaving my face, but sometimes I find using a classic razor a bit irritating.
    And, on an unrelated dermatology note: I love the way you pronounce “stevia”; I’ve never heard anyone else say it that way. I usually hear (and say) it as “Steve-ee-ah”. There’s more emphasis on “Steve”. 🤣
    And also, I really wish I liked stevia- I cannot stand it!! Sadly, for me, it has a chemical taste to it, that leaves an awful aftertaste, and it reminds me too much of black licorice. Black licorice practically makes me gag. ☹️ Red licorice is alright though. 😉
    I’m assuming you like black licorice since you like anise- also not a favorite of mine. My hubby, on the other hand, LOVES black licorice!! Any time I find packages of Australian black licorice, I get it for him. I think I spoil him a bit, lol!
    And since his name is Scott, the Gimbal’s black licorice “Scottie Dogs” are a big hit! They’re super cute!! (Gimbal’s is a tasty candy brand, btw! My favorite are the Cherry Hearts- yum!!!)

    Hmm.. I've been shaving my armpits since forever but I actually started waxing by going to a waxing salon. I thought waxing would lessen hair ingrowns/bumps, skin irritation, armpit discoloration(because apparently, shaving causes micro skin tears and the armpit darkens especially if you put aluminum-based antiperspirant like aluminum chlorohydrate. Is this true?). And with waxing/threading, the hair would take much longer time to show/surface and the number of hair would lessen in the long run.??

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      no..waxing/plucking/nair/threading etc all lead to ingrowns; yes deodorant ingredients can be irritating and lead to darking if the irritation persists

    Dr.Dray, I'm noticing your nails & lack of cuticle (from what we can see, at any rate). I know you've said never to cut the cuticle & I haven't done that in years, but what I used to do when massaging my hands with coconut oil (& a drop of tea tree oil added) was to gently nudge my cuticle back with a nail from the opposite hand - usually covered with a paper towel & at the point where I was wiping off excess. Was that a bad thing to do? I stopped doing that after watching your hand care video but really preferred the look of my hands when the nail itself didn't look so small. Can I push back *gently*? Blessings! Jackie in NY state

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      HI! Yes...that habit of pushing back with even just your nail from the other hand really does lead to brittle nails...likewise tea tree oil applied to the cuticle can be very problematic as it can be both a low or high level irritant (depending on many factors) and/or result in allergic contact dermatitis

    • @ibelieveinangelsyesido7436
      @ibelieveinangelsyesido7436 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gotcha. Will continue to not touch ~ & haven't been using the tea tree oil & coconut since stopping that, so I'll continue as is & get used to smaller nails, LOL. Thanks, Doc! Jackie

My entire upper lip scabbed over. Like a whole fucking scab. Soooo bad. So painful. Just the worst. Since then I have never waxed again, and I have shaved a couple times.
