This advice worked like a charm even in Word 2019 for Mac. By using the Compare function followed by this approach, I was able to quickly produce a PDF calling out all changes between two versions of a 350-page document in balloons as by reviewer "CHANGE" -- hiding the comments/changes of a dozen actual reviewers. Just want my client needed.
Thank you for watching! Unfortunately, your professor must be using a much older version of Word because the software no longer includes comment numbers. In current versions of Word, the only way I know to see comment numbers is to go to File > Print and then look at the printing thumbnails that include the commenter's initials and a number.
