I think he has the greatest phrasing, just like a Horn player. His compositions have a beautiful mysterious quality. His melodies are angular and lyrical.
yep!
I bet he was listening alot of Allan Holdsworth
Angular and lyrical! Very well said.
Holdsworth was one of his biggest guitar influences. They both have that same Coltrane approach of phrasing.
This song is one of my favorites by Kurt, along with Zhivago and Star of Jupiter. The Star of Jupiter album is a masterpiece.
BPM = Blinks per minute
kurt is one of the greatest guitarists of this generation in my humble opinion
*artist
Or any other generation, for that matter.
1:30 one of those Kurt lines that make you smile for hours
What a combination - an inspired and brilliant jazz guitarist and a world class big band!! Gorgeous sounds!!
it s an evidence !!!!!!!! i agree with you
The original version of this tune is something else too. The ending vamp is always the best part, that outer space feel starting to peak @ 7:00, with those 'funny notes' in the background @ 7:30 harmony melting, reforming...eargasm.
the line at 7:41 is my favorite
love the surprises he creates with his harmonic adventures. Very Rosenwinkel, and then, on those harmonies mister genius just flies over to some magic land
Great, I really enjoy kurt in the big band settings
this is so next level
So amazing. I have seen him play in philly a few times. One time he was playing duet with Peter Bernstein. Crazy!
Thank you Michae! The duet with Peter Bernstein sounds interesting!
Fabulous exploratory work.Dissonant yet listenable.Brilliant!
Beautiful music!!!
Splendid Rose, Splendid Band & Excellent Sound Engineers!
That show was amazing!
Stunning .
This composition reminds me of Allan Holdsworth and music of John Barry at the same time ))
Obsessed with 1:17 such a beautiful melodic line.
So lovely👍
Thank you!
Great!!!!
WOW!!!!
killer tone
Great
is that you, Allan?
Yes it is
♪♪♪👍👍👍🎵
Does anyone have a chart for this tune?

He plays the melody a bit different each time, and this is based on the album version from Star of Jupiter, but it's similar
Hey that´s great. Thank you!
is there any dvd of this concert ? :)
sorry, there isn't :(
hrbigband why not ☹️
We love the clips with Kurt, too -- but to publish them on dvd, there will not be enough demand. So we hope you keep enjoying the videos on TH-cam!
@@hrbigband Pls publish more from this concert here on youtube. Would love it!
anyone know what he's using to get that sound?
Ehx H.O.G 2 and a compressor to remove pick noise
ohh nice ill check it out thanks sm
Tone comes from the 👐
There's just something about it that sounds odd, kinda detracts from the great warm tone he already has. :/
@@oddfellowfloyd but much more melodic, it doesn’t have the pick attack that a guitar naturally has. As a guitarist I always struggle with the sound of the pick and find myself fighting the instrument to have less pick attack. His tone is great.
What guitar is he playing here?
Sorry Nishankh but we can't tell you at the moment.
It's a Moffa I believe! 😊 Blessings! Julien
Yes, a Moffa Mithra. Of course made by the italian luthier Domenico Moffa from Sicily.
I'm a great fan, is there something with that shirt ? kinda fetish stuff i think.
