i knew a guy that when he got paid, he would take all his money out at the ATM and sit it on the center console of his 4x4, not in the center console, just sitting in the little tray in front of the cup holders. he would loose so much money from it just blowing out when he opened the door, he would bitch and complain about it every time, yet he refused to do anything about it. he also never locked his car, I don't know how nobody stole any of the money, people in the same area have windows broken for pocket change and here he is with over sometimes multiple thousand just sitting out for the world to see, it would sit there until he spent it or it blew out the window.

@@flat4314 Some places are good, some not so good. I worked security at a huge distribution center. Our dedicated drivers that hauled to the stores would often park their tractors there in the back of the lot, sometimes even staying in the tractor like they're camping. Drivers used to tell me that some lots let you do that, some don't. At the time, we had the space so it wasn't a big deal. But once they expanded the warehouse again, which increased the traffic, they had to tighten down on the practice of letting the drivers stay in the back of the lot. On another note, our Walmart is tough on parking, but the one down in Ardmore is really slack about it. They even let me leave my minivan for a couple of days when it threw a rod, until I could get it towed home. You just have to know which places will let you do things, which ones won't. You're right, some will tow you in a heartbeat.

I'm on NextDoor and there is this luxury gated apartment complex that got shoehorned into my neighborhood that has lots of section 8 apartments and low income houses and people post on there weekly about their cars getting "broken into" and how they don't understand how they're getting in through the fence. They leave guns, laptops, wallets, etc out in plain view and don't lock their doors and then are shocked when they get robbed. That's why I put broken into in quotations cause they didn't break in when they left the doors unlocked, they were just robbed.
They stick out like sore thumbs because they have $50-100k new luxury vehicles driving through the neighborhood so all the poor people not below stealing see that and see dollar signs.

One was at a gas station where homeless and other seedy characters always hang out by the doors begging for change or a cigarette and one of them saw they left the car running and stole it. Thankfully once they saw the baby in the back they ditched the car a block away. The other one went on a full speed chase with the kid in the back, thankfully the kid was alright in the end.

That lady with the kids was so upset, but there was no reason for her to not have a sticker or be on the do not tow list if she just did the adult thing and communicated with the landlord. My husband and I have just the 1 car and pay for street parking (my city tickets anything on the street between 3am and 5am that didn't pay resident or visitor fees through the city website) but when it's a bad snow or when I had my c-section we got permission to park around close to our door, blocking the landscaping garage. It's not a parking space, but we had it in writing and I printed the email out to keep on the dash from the landlord.

Most municipalities have ordinances that specify the amount of parking spaces per apartment. When renters are allowing other people to live in the apartment without the knowledge of the landlord they are defrauding the landlord and possibly making the landlord responsible for too many residents in an apartment, which usually is a safety hazard. Man, I would not want to be a property manager for an apartment complex. It would be like herding cats, LOL. I know people think tow companies are vultures, but come on! If the manager has trouble getting all these tenants to comply, and cannot control the visitor/sublessees situation, then the city gets down on them, so something has to give, folks. EA, you are doing a good job, you're polite and down to earth and non-judgmental. I've never had trouble with a tow company--but I'm careful not to park illegally, LOL. And recently a tow driver helped me out of a tight situation, so you guys are in general, aces in my book!

Only had one towing experience. My roomate and I moved to my hometown Virginia Beach VA. She had never seen the ocean before. We went right to the beach as soon as we hit town. She was so excited and wanted to get her feet wet so bad. When she realized you had to pay to park everywhere near the ocean front. She decided to pull into a beach front hotel and park. I told her they will tow you so fast it'll make your head spin. She was sure she could run down to the water and back before they could tow her. WRONG her car was gone in less than 10 minutes. Told her as a teenager we made extra cash in the summer spotting for tow companies at hotels. I made 10 bucks for very car I called in. That was good money in the early 70s. All the local teens did it.

Clearly there are a lot of immigrants or possibly migrant workers in that complex. It's well known that they always have a lot of people in their homes so they can send money back home. That appears to be the crux of the problem. It seems concerning to me that the manager hasn't figured this out yet? You can't hand out more stickers than there are parking spots. I'm thinking she might need to do random apartment checks to verify number of people in each unit.
I know in my apartment complex you can't have a visitor more than 3 days. Start handing out lease violations for too many people in a unit and it might just clear up the problem.

Just came up with a great idea to curtail illegal parking at the apartment complex. Add to the tow sign the fact that it will cost $300 (or whatever it is) if your car is towed. "Illegal parking will be towed at owners expense $300" That will stop the bad parking practices in it's tracks, but it would also curtail your earnings so maybe not post that sign! You must admit, that complex is a gravy train! 😁👍😎✌

I'll never understand why people park in apartment lots without notes or a sticker. I don't have a car, but I still have an allotted space that I can use for a guest (with a note). I see random cars parked in my space ALL THE TIME. Like, 99% of the time I don't care, as I'm not using it. But if I had a guest come and my spot was taken, I'd 1000% have the apartment manager tow their ass. If it's another tenant using my spot (I have no idea), it wouldn't be difficult for them to ask if my spot is free and if they could use it sometimes. But no one asks. Heck, even the apartment manager, who knows I don't have a car, ASKED ME if the spot could be used for a week by a repair company doing work on our building. These people are all their worst enemies. The lack of common sense is staggering.
