The issue most people are having is that on dedicated servers when everyone is signed out the Pals merely stand at the Pal Box unmoving and thus they do not eat or craft and simply get sick while signed out. The only fix right now is to put your Pals away in their box before signing out and when not at base, because if you are extremely far from base while signed in a similar bug occurs.
Yep. My mining base is pretty much useless on a small dedicated server. As soon as I go exploring, they all just stop working. I have to AFK stand there for them to do anything. Pathing was a problem at my main base too, but my real problem is the inactivity at my mining base. I don't know if they'll ever really be able to fix that tbf
@@OldHeadVIKthey will at some point I’ve actually come to find out that the problem with inactivity actually goes hand and hand with pathing it may not seem like something is but something definitely blocking your pals I’ve had that same problem and just adjusted my base spread and it fixed itself
One thing I found out is the pals don't actually need access to their beds, they just need to exist. So I build a tall 1x1 tower and put a bed in each section. Then the pals just go to sleep at what ever station they are assigned to
Yeah, im doing it too. Even if they're sleeping on the floor, if you have crafted somewhere the right amount of bed it needs it will work. Just make a house and fill it with bed with 2~4 floors
Heres an extra tip. Pals eat from the feed box left to right. If you fill up all the slots with a 1 stack of bread or cotton candy. They will place all the loose ingredients they harvest into the fridge instead of the feed box.
So here's the thing: if pathfinding and access to food was the whole issue, why doesn't it also happen while you're around? And if they just stop trying when you're not around (like a map "chunk" not loaded turning off all pathfinding but not hunger/san drop) then any attempt to improve the pathfinding to food/beds/hot tubs would be fruitless.
Yeah, also you lose a lot of time/effort efficiency with heavily spread out pathing. I mean, get too cramped and it's a problem, but excessive spreading out isn't that great (except chests! shorter distance to walk to put things away, so chests everywhere hehe). One thing overlooked in the video as well, is that you can just swap out pals from day to day, and they regen 'san' while put away. So the food thing isn't strictly necessary. Hassle of swapping out pals, vs hassle of food set-up. I would say food is definitely the better way, except 'refrigeration' is handled very, _very_ poorly (2 cats and no pasture, just to get refrigeration like 60% of the time??). But not a huge factor if you're mass producing a single type of food, and stacking it high (due to stacked spoilage). The food situation needs work. It's a good start, but it's in a very early access state. You're kinda punished for having more than one type of crafted food, and there's no benefit to using 95% of the recipes.
This makes me glad I spent most of the day yesterday building a seperate base and might even do another base today just to keep everything more separate!
For people playing on dedicated servers trying to fix this for when they're offline, this video is not relevant and your pals will still get stuck. That issue is with Palworld causing memory leaks on those servers, not loading that section of the map where your base is while you're offline and then just leaving your pals all stuck in a single place ontop of each other. Just keep putting your pals back in your Palbox before you finish playing until this can be fixed.
@@Matarohh To be honest the only time I encounter issues is when I'm loading back into the base after being somewhere they'll be mysteriously off a cliff or trapped somewhere pathing doesn't fix that entirely since they aren't even doing the pathing when you aren't close to the base they're just frozen its why their production drops heavily when you aren't nearby you'll get 10x the resources standing in the base compared to being away from it (outside the spawn distance)
@@Notaforumguy007 I noticed that as well, which is why I choose to stay AFK in a base where I desperately need a certain resource. Unfortunately there isn't anything that will fix that issue besides the developers themselves. Hoping for this or next patch this bug will be addressed
I don't play online, but I never realized how much detail was put into maintaining Pals' SAN levels; even just having stuff too close together to the point of the Pals actually crowding each other can make a huge difference. Looks like I'm gonna have to either redo my bases or start a brand new game
We didn't know any of this when we first started. Yesterday we dismantled and moved our bases. When we set them back up we built everything 2-3 blocks high (meaning two walls on top of each other before adding a roof) this allows the large pets to walk around inside without getting stuck. We also spaced all the beds out because I noticed they often wouldn't make it to the beds that were surrounded on all sides by other beds. Or they would just pass out on the floor. I see other people in the comments saying this doesn't matter in terms of efficiency, which might be true, but personally I think it looks tacky having them all pass out in random locations. Spreading the beds out about 1 per foundation/wall does the job just fine.
First video of yours I’ve seen. Also one of the most informative about details I’ve been not sure about. Thanks for this. Will look at other video’s from you….
The best trick actually, is to just upgrade your workers to flying only. Any land pal will get caught on smaller terrain on uneven surface locations. This causes a lot of traffic jams that will endlessly make them starve. Also putting a feeding box in all cardinal directions covers the entire base in case they go on a break where they just go on a stroll anywhere in the radius of the base. This lets them access food from pretty much each quadrant of the base rather than have some seconds of downtime walking all the way across the base to just eat once and return to any task across the other side of the base.
They all get stuck. Especially in places like the location he showed on the cliff. My bats will phase through the fence I have around it while I'm gone. I've thought of doing the feed box in all 4 directions thing because of how basic the pathing is. However they wander randomly during "breaks" so not sure if that will even help. Worth a try.
I found you on ark ascended and now I check out your palworld videos, youre a meta player and make meta guides I love that about you, no casual shit just pure hardcore.
glutton seems to be good for keeping sanity up at higher work setting when parred with sanity passives like workaholic and high sanity foods (needs more testing though).
err the problem is they freeze up when you are offline, that's the problem not a pathing issue. They bug out, stop doing anything and just slowly starve and gain debuffs because of it. I've checked my box of ore and goods at start of a night and then when i wake up and is no change--- not a pathing problem they simply stop acting when you leave. You can even see this when you warp into your base as they will all be rougly where you left them on teleporting away. Nothing i have done has fixed this issue... as far as i can tell its just broken.
One thing to try is to elevate your palbox with foundation, because they all get just despawn and respawn infront of that box and get stuck in the ground I think
Still, no one has addressed the food requirements of their worker pets. Picking the highest skill pets is great for work efficiency/speeds, but sometimes the smaller pals make more sense overall due to not needing to eat as much/often.
The trick is to place the feeder close to where the big shovels are working; of course, they work faster but require more food. Also, the food should have high nutritional value to make them take less time to eat.
Yeah... This doesn't help at all. Our second base has everything in the open, nothing blocking pathing, yet as soon as we are away from the base they stop eating, sleeping and everything else. As soon as we travel to the base they all run to the food box then go to sleep and do what they need. So all the time when we are away for too long from the base (still logged on) they starve until they get depressed, fractured, w/e.
Imo omelette is the best high tier food. Lettuce takes to long to grow and harvest so it doesn’t worth it at all. Omelette is extremely easy to make and it fills high tier Pals really quick. It’s important because higher tier pals gain less from eating lower tier foods and they will spend A LOT more time eating than working.
The best food I have found so far is Pizza(for ease to make and ingredients, tomatoes, berries, milk and wheat), it feeds them good and moves the San by about 23... but you need an electric oven and 4 ingredients, but it will keep ur Pals in top notch condition. the toast with jam is a second day of play thing, move on into more stable food for ur working Pals :)
