How to perform HPE Synergy Firmware Updates on Gen 10 & 11 Servers with Synergy Service Pack (SSP)? #hpe #synergy #firmware #update #gen10 #gen11 #server #service #pack #howto
On a Synergy frame you should really use the Profile options in Oneview, add the SPP pack as a baseline and select "firmware only" but i guess if you only have one or 2 blades you can go ahead and do the manual mode as described here.
Thanks for your input! Using the Profile options in OneView with the SPP pack as a baseline is indeed a best practice for managing firmware on a Synergy frame. For cases with only one or two blades, the manual mode, as described in the video, can be a convenient alternative. I t's great to have multiple approaches depending on the scale of the deployment. Appreciate your insights!
You're videos are really Informative. I have a small query with regards to synergy. What if i have multiple frames in synergy does each frame requires to connect to uplinks or we can create single LIG and mapp all four frames to connect to uplink. Also, it would be great if you can make some video regarding Master & satellite archtiecture types.
Hi Chandra Thank you for your kind words! Regarding your question about HPE Synergy, if you have multiple frames, you can indeed create a single Logical Interconnect Group (LIG) and map all four frames to connect to the uplink. This setup allows you to manage the network connections across all frames more efficiently. Each frame does not necessarily need its own separate uplink connections as long as they are properly mapped within the same LIG. As for your suggestion about creating a video on Master & Satellite architecture types, that’s a great idea! I’ll definitely consider making a detailed video to explain these concepts, as they are crucial for understanding how to optimize and scale your HPE Synergy environment.
Hi Karthik, Unfortunately, HP SUM (HP Smart Update Manager) doesn't support HPE Synergy firmware updates directly. Instead, HPE recommends using the HPE Synergy Custom SPP (Service Pack for ProLiant) for firmware updates. You can obtain the latest version of the SPP from the HPE Support website. Simply search for 'HPE Synergy Custom SPP' on the HPE Support website, and you should find the appropriate download link. Once downloaded, you can use the SPP to update firmware on your HPE Synergy infrastructure. Hope this helps!
Great explanation sir.. we are using both synergy and VMware products in our infrastructure.. May i know are there any free labs avaible on internet for synergy ?
Hi Sir, Thank you for the kind words! HPE Discover Virtual Experience: • HPE often provides virtual labs and hands-on experiences during their Discover events. • You can check their website for upcoming events and access free lab sessions. VMware Hands-on Labs (HOL): • Although HOL mainly focuses on VMware products, they occasionally cover integrations with HPE Synergy. • Check the HOL website for any relevant labs that might be available.
