Well this took longer then I wished! Mostly for reasons out of my control, but nearly 4 months following my first Minecraft ARG video, it's time for something unexpected. Flash Games were a big part of my life back in the day, and with the obsolescence of Flash, most of these games will no longer be easily accessible. So here I am, talking about some. Hope I don't regret this. This video's WAY different from my other videos, be it documentaries, video essays, or exploring ARGs. Gmod ARGs or otherwise. It's hard to pinpoint exact inspirations for this, but some big ones would include T3rr0r, The Cursed Judge (TheCursedJudge), jschlatt (With A Tribute to Minecraft), and especially EmpLemon (EmperorLemon). (At least for some of the music used.) Also that other guy, HORIZON (TheOfficialHorizonYT), who made the video on why Angry Birds fell off. Or at the very least it's convenient, since I mentioned Rovio at one point. So what's next, then? More Garry's Mod? Minecraft ARGs? Minecraft nostalgia? We'll see!

There is a specific flash game I played a long time ago. And it was some sort of castle defender game. You would have to protect your home from enemies that look like crows or penguins? You can throw them around at the floor to hurt them or draw temporary walls to block them. You can also add bombs to explode the enemies. From what I remembered it had 5 levels. And it might either be on a10 or Kizi.

For me, Crush the Castle was a masterpiece.

Dude did any of you play a game with a sorta similar aesthetic to Crush The Castle except you created vehicles like cars and you could put on rocket boosters to make it fly and stuff, I have no idea what it was called.

Just found your channel and i already love this video, i played Free Rider 1 and 2, Crush the Castle and also Huje Tower.
Those flash games were just a huge part of my childhood, i spent hours playing those and i will never forget about them, so many games that i still love to this very day and still play from time to time, stuff like Fancy Pants Adventures (Especially the second one), the Papa Louie games, Tanks in Action, Planet of the Forklift Kid, Super Stacker, Red Remover, Blosics, Boombot, Fantastic Contraption, Bowja the Ninja (Honestly i would say these are my favorite flash games), etc...
A shame flash was discontinued, but these games will always be on my memories, i miss those times, they were great.

Great video! I really enjoyed it, and while I didn't know about Huje Tower, I still was pretty entertained. The video did feel more like a podcast, making the editing one of the least focused aspects when watching. Real shame since I actually loved the editing! Did an awesome job there.
Now, I really love flash games as well, and there are some games I love that people seem to have forgotten about. I'll start with some pretty well-known ones that confused some people when I talked about them.
    First, the elephants,
World Domination Battle - A game where you play as political figures. This was the most popular one that I absolutely adored. It has over 500K views on NewGrounds, and with it having its own page, it did seem pretty big.
Epic Boss Fighter - Another pretty popular game on NewGrounds where you fight several bosses, with a pretty damn bad sequel which completely changes the playstyle.
And now for a quick lightning round.
PencilKids, Ninjadoodle, the BORED dot Com + fastgames + BeGamer + Gamystar collabs between each other - These three were very big in Point 'N Click games, especially flash. But there are two more I want to point out.
Inkagames - A group of 4 people who made Saw games by themselves, most of which are now only playable via Flashpoint because of copyright issues. Really ruined the charm.
DeathTiger0 from Carmel Games - Made a lot of Point 'N Click games, very possibly 133 of them. Even had a series called Vortex Point, but the other games were honestly much more fun.
And as a honorable mention, Jack Astral. Don't see enough people talk about him.
Moving on to a bit more obscure...
BubbleFighting Tournament - With around 41,500 players on NewGrounds this game was somehow pretty obscure. I thought this was a very popular game, but the last three comments go from 2021, to 2019, to 2015.
The 2ch Battle - A fighting game that was peculiar for being very flashy. It used typography to make cats with emoticons like the classic 0_0 face. I have no idea where the project is, but it was pretty original.
Box Life - I'd say this is a forgotten game even by the creator. The creator made a full version but the Unity Flash version is honestly much better. A 3D Metroidvania. The creator then made another project which he abandoned in a pretty bad state.
Bobby's Adventure - A platformer that when I bring up around people, nobody seems to know about. Really thought this was popular, and when I looked it up on TH-cam once I didn't get any results of the game. Underrated.
Ollie's Dance Experience - My first ever rhythm game, and one that I treasure with nostalgia. I really wish more people had known about this game, could have been the FNF from 2006.
And now for two games I only saw documented once.
No. 5 + Mr. Zhong - both games are made by Mink and Stone Lin. A game that I wanted to find long ago but completely forgot about, only to find it by pure accident on Google Images. Nobody seems to acknowledge this game apparently. Still on Flashpoint somehow.
And now for games I have no idea what the title is or I completely forgot.
Unity 3D Knife Throwing Game - A pretty simple concept, there is a guy on a wheel and you have to throw knives. It was a low-poly PS1 like graphics that kinda resembled the Alone In The Dark sprites. It was a pirate and I am pretty sure you could cut his limbs throwing the knife and it would bleed. Was pretty hilarious.
Cat Fighting Game - This is one that I just don't even know if it is real or not, and it always makes me go on a long rant. Back then, there was a website where I would play Causality or Casuality games, with two rows of games at the very top of the website. It was an asian website, and one day while messing around I ended up on a game where it was Battle Cat like characters on a traditional 2D fighting style game. Oddly enough, some of the characters from the typography artstyle game did remind me of those. I just know I battled a cat in a box in some kind of sewer stage.
And to end it off, a very honorable mention to the Nickelodeon Platformer lost to time. You could make your own levels, and there were Fanboy & ChumChum, iCarly, and more shows I don't remember as themes for the same game concept. I only remember it from a Nick Jr. website which was defunct a long time ago. Surprisingly I found the game while trying to recover it when I was still very young. That was my first taste of rediscovering old stuff and what possibly started my love for this flash gaming obscureness trend.

Oh, I forgot to mention another one! Don't remember the name of this one either.
A game where you are simply a bear and just... drink beer. You spam keys and each level has you spam more keys. No idea what kind of bear you were but you did drink against other bears and I think there was another animal, possibly a penguin but I might be misremembering because of another flash game.

wdym epic boss fighter 2 changes the playstyle?
only stuff i can think of are things like equipment, but that stuff is a great addition to the game, so i doubt it's that

@@fortnitesexman I always thought of the game as "Make yourself the most powerful thing alive.", but with stuff that can only buff certain things, it makes it seem way less like that. It's more strategy which I think is fine but it throws away the fun of becoming more and more overpowered imo. Then again, last time I played it was 2020, so might have to replay it.

and i could mention a lot of games aswell, but these two are VERY high on my yet to be made list of favorite flash games
not because i actually play them often, but simply because of their atmosphere, it's one of those things where i go "i wish i was in there myself"
and to stop blue balling you, the games i'm talking about are william and sly 1 & 2, i'm not really sure how popular they are overall, but i just adore how calming it is to explore the forest and caves finding mushrooms and all that jazz
there's a 3rd one in 3D which has been in development since the marble age, and i doubt it's gonna actually be completed at this rate, not to mention it doesn't really carry the same vibe as the previous 2
i will warn you tho, i can't remember if it was like this before the death of flash, but on flashpoint the first game has a VERY obvious grid pattern, and it damn near ruins the game, thankfully the second game doesn't suffer from this at all
P.S apparently it's based off a book, i found out cause i asked what gender the fox was, and it turns out it might not even be a fox to begin with 💀

@@javiep_c fair enough, for me i enjoy making a specific build much more than just getting all the upgrades
cause there's nothing to do once you've done so, meanwhile with builds you have a choice of what to do throughout the game
i definitely don't think they handled it perfectly tho, a lot of the items are simply too expensive and or have poorly thought out stats
