It's called Smurfing because of a username. The first two people to "smurf" were two Warcraft II players. People automatically avoided them when they saw their usernames. So to counter this, they made 2 new accounts and called them "PapaSmurf" and "Smurfette."
before i see ur vid, i personally want to say im not a fan of the series, especially when some of them start laughing at the killers playing, asking what they're doing. just leaves a bad taste in my mouth since its kinda lame to laugh at them when they're new players. and also the obvs point being that they play to win to the best of their ability vs people who are trying the game out, like it could end up driving some of those people away from playing. Not to mention its just not that interesting a watch. Was disappointed when i found out it was being done again this year
You don't understand. Eventually they will be facing "high mmr killers" !!!! But they will still win cause it's an extremely well co-ordinated SWF. Isn't that epic and exciting?!
@@kaclis314yeah how is this problematic? Hardcore survivor isn’t playing survivors with prestige 9 with items and tier 3 perks. It’s literally with brand new survivors where the group strategically purchases perks on characters and if a character dies the entire group can’t use them? How is that problematic it’s awesome
I’m really glad you brought up spooky loops killer challenge, because I thought the exact same thing while watching it. He kept adding more restrictions and it only added to the challenge and the excitement. It shows you don’t need to make a new account to make a challenge. Good on you and spooky!
shouldn't have had it be a 3k as a loss though, that was dumb IMHO. He lost several killers simply because survivors were lucky and got hatch / strong gate spawns, and it incentivises future players to have the mindset of "oh if I don't get absolutely every last person I've done a shit job and lost".
@@HappilyMundane I get that but I do feel like it makes a lot of would be tough challenges easier. So while yeah it’s very RNG based, it’s refreshing to see someone go for something really challenging. If not he would have ended the challenge with a ton of killer left and it wouldn’t have been as exciting
I honestly tried and couldn't watch the series, I like the idea but it was just them dunking on baby Killers. I'm sure eventually they go against better Killers but when one of them is able to run the Killer for 5 gens it's not good content, it's just abusing a lower skilled player.
@@GoldKitsuneBrony I guess I can't tell you what you find entertaining, but watching some of the best survivors around hop on comms and demolish new players doesn't even approach entertainment to me. Its about as good of content as watching a hacker streamer, both have about the same amount of risk at losing.
@@GoldKitsuneBrony if you read my original post I acknowledge they eventually fight better Killers, hence the increase in MMR. That doesn't change the fact that at the very start they are dunking on new Killers. Would it be impressive or interesting if Otz did a 50 Killer win streak starting at baby MMR? I'd say no and it really makes the challenge way less impressive. Seeing them start at Ash at their real MMR and seeing them make it to gold would be way more impressive than the current challenge.
I also only made it through one episode before I stopped because I felt this series was hard carried by Poggy's editing on Dowsey's channel the last time the series was done by this group (Dowsey was replaced by Hens in this run through since Dowsey quit the game a while ago). The multiple perspectives and fantastic editing as well as theatrical musical choices made the series a lot more special than just watching some dorks loop babies for 30-60 minutes. It feels a lot more like flexing in this watch through than it used to in the past where it felt like a full on movie saga. Poggy did join Otzdarva as his editor, so I am hoping that in the future this series is edited and reuploaded with Poggy's epic editing style instead of Ayrun's "watch me make jokes and be a god at the game" editing.
It's unfortunate that it's becoming a trend. It's what oversaturated the League of Legends content on TH-cam and i'd hate to see it put up on a pedestal in DBD. Nobody wants their first killer game to be against 4 10k+ hour cracked survivors who are almost invincible to hit. People are very quick to go "It's just a game, wahhh baby killer" But to those people I say, find your empathy and remember that the killers are going to be demoralized. Not having any influx of new players is what kills a game, once the recurring players are done with it.
Smurfing with a competitive 4-man swf against baby killers while presenting it as something super difficult or impressive when it's not at all representative of how the game works, it's just not healthy for the game. It would get them banned in most any other game with a ranking system. It gives less experienced survivors a false impression that "if I'm just good enough I should be able to loop killers for 5 gens!"
I'm a new player and one of the things i wondered when i saw this "Hardcore Survivor" thing, and i even mentioned it in a comment in one of their videos, is "wait, wouldn't this completely screw with almost every single Killer player they face?" Cause now these low MMR/brand new Killer players are playing against 4 Smurfs that happen to be 4 incredibly good players who are just destroying the Killer almost every time. It's extremely unfair for those players to lose like this, especially if they happen to follow any of these people and realize that they just got screwed for a video.
They will lose ONE game because of smurfs, which doesn't affect anything, and they leave this very low/new player elo in a few game, trying their best to leave as soon as possible
@@friloweye I mean you already pointed out the issue, how is this even considered a challenge if you know the new player is going to lose? Just make it gold 5-iri 1 then. Also, a new player who is trying out the game and gets dunked on that badly might never try the game again. New players aren't hooked and don't have the sunk cost fallacy, they might think the game is nothing but sweat and just say its not for them.
It’s not a challenge in the beginning, but it will be later on. Which is the entire point, but the problem is they can’t just bypass the lower MMR they have to beat the weaker opponents to get to the stronger ones. No offense, but the match making system has never been good. You’re bound to get plenty of players above/below your skill level
@@daniels2745 Indeed, matchmaking is poo, even i noticed this already when my FIRST Killer game had me against people with prestige levels in the double digits. However, it's not EVERY Survivor and i can still learn from these matches. Exactly what will i learn or enjoy when getting stomped by 4 of the best players in the game who are TRYING to win for the sake of the video?
@@AzureRoxe Eh.... sometimes I’ve gone whole weeks getting killers/survivors who are way above my skill level or greatly below it. Depends on the killer in question, but timing, when to leave chases, etc. i won’t deny if I faced against Otz even if I got crushed
I get annoyed by watching them do things that I wouldn’t even get away with in my MMR. I’ve played more as survivor the last two years and just recently got in to killer a few months ago, so I don’t enjoy that series bc I always think about how I’d get punished for doing that in my lobbies. I’d def enjoy it more if they stayed in their mmr so I could learn more.
it could also just ruin the confidence or interest of the baby killer they went against and cause them to not want to play the game anymore which is sad… if i got absolutely shit on and trolled i’d probably never touch the game again and think it was too hard for me and i suck.. i don’t like that they’re ruining the fun for new people
Totally agree with you. Smurfing kinda ruin the mood for me. I really enjoyed the way Spookyloops did his HC challenge (specially when he was not able to slug for 4k. I'm not a fan of slugging for 4k as a killer main, because game became boring, for me and por the suriv slugged)
@@GoldKitsuneBrony its not a challenge for the first 2 episodes... so what the point? do it in main account and make it hard from the beggining. I dont enjoy watching a 20k+ hrs squad beat the shit out of new player.
@@GoldKitsuneBrony Is not a "challenge" if its a easy win lol. I understand if you want to believe that its is, but is not. @@GoldKitsuneBrony Lol. Sorry if my english is bad and you cant understand my point of view: I do not like easy win. It has nothing to do with losing. I DO NOT THINK IT IS A CHALLENGE IF YOU HAS AN EASY TIME. I don't care if you have to play 5, 10, 15 or 20 games until the mmr is accurate with your game level. The first 2 videos of the series are TO ME boring as fuck. But hey, dont feel too attacked if someone on internet doesnt like the same shit as you do. We can like different shits and its ok.
Wait…. What? How did he fix his MMR? Hardcore is all about going from Ash to Iri? You have to start from the bottom, unless his hardcore had an entirely different end goal
@@RBHadoShoryuken Hmmmmm.... While that's not a bad idea, I don't believe it should be done that way. At least for a full 4-man swf. As Spooky seemingly gives himself access to perks at the beginning, but if you did that with survivor it'd be impossible. As he seems to lose perks upon defeat. If survivors ran out of perks they'd lose the challenge automatically.
i am very happy you made a video on this, i felt the exact same way when i saw they announcement for the series.. i think it ultimately reflects a more overarching issue in the community where a lot of bigger content creators think they are exempt from, like, courtesy, for lack of a better word, for the sake of content creation, having this idea that they can do things that are typically frowned upon by the community just because they're making a video/streaming/whatever. and i don't think it is because of any malice usually, but it's sort of this like, oversight that i think a lot of ccs have which makes some of their preaching about good sportsmanship feel hypocritical, even if unintentionally very good points !!! your suggestions were all very good too; i think spookyloops also did his hardcore killer challenge in a way that was still engaging but wasn't capitalizing off of literal day 1 players for content... awesome video as always !
Here's the thing, they decided they'd do a Hardcore Survivor challenge, but smurfed to do it, so they are literally making it easier for them on a "Hardcore" challenge. It's idiotically stupid imo, because where's the challenge if it's 4 pro survs against a number of noob killers
They could easily do these challenges without changing the rules and without smurfing. They could do a perk randomiser to start with which is effectively the same as unlocking perks on the bloodweb, start with universals and just add the teachable perks. If they levelled up a character 50 times (say they started on level 30, they "prestige" when they hit 30 on the next prestige) then they can add that survivors perks. For unlocking universal perks they just spin the wheel once or twice every time they level up to account for perks they would've gotten and they can just use whatever teachables they unlocked. Bullying baby killers in the early game just makes the challenge easier
As much as I like Otz I think it’s a problem, and I have been critical of Aryun in the last the killers he goes against are clearly not in his class… not sure if his games are legit. I can’t say he lowers MMR offf stream but something isn’t right
On the topic of Ayrun, it’s possible he’s only showing the games he did well in for his videos. I don’t watch his streams, but I’ve heard he does get more challenging killers overall.
They can play on their main accounts and only equip perks as if they were doing the Smurf challenge. The only thing is the perks will already be level 3 and they just keep track of it. Or instead of them having to get enough blood points to unlock the perk like on the smurfs, they can allow to use the perk “unlocking” on other characters after a set amount of games that would be similar to unlocking it through blood points.
A dumb little story, some time ago, I was an unfortunate victim of the hardcore survivor series. I don’t really play killer entirely to win, but to have fun with the killer and their power, and I had a killer challenge that l loathed and I really just wanted that challenge done and over with. That match, I never completed that challenge, because I never really had the opportunity to complete it. It felt like anything I did was purely just pointless and had to take a break from dbd for a month afterwards because I accidentally associated my self-worth with my skill at a video game. I have nothing against any of them, it was frankly an honor. However, I still don’t look back on it fondly. After all, what honor is there in having your ass put on a wall of shame for all to see?
How do you accidentally associate your self worth with a videogame?? How many hours a day were you playing? There is a term for that phenomena in psychology, "dissociation" and it sounds like you played dbd to point of experiencing it. I'm glad you took a break because I think a lot of the player base in this game are in poor mental health because they're addicted to it.
I'm glad I'm not the only person thinking about this. I think calling the series hard-core is misleading in some regards. However in other regards, they're just playing survive with friends, nothing hard-core about that when so many players already do that. I have a lot of thoughts about it, but I'll stop by saying they should rebrand the series. It's not a hard-core challenge, its more of Nuzlocke challenge like you would see in Pokemon games. At least that's the vibes I get from the series as is. Change it to DBD Nuzlocke and it would be better, at least perception wise.
I'm glad someone else talks about it, I've always had a problem with it too. It's really unfair for the Killers they are going against, it might even discourage them completely from playing Killer again.
I think this could use a bit of history for quick commentors: This Hardcore challenge started with old killer player Marth88 who started the challenge with killer back in 2019. Basically he had to go on a fresh account from Rank 20 to 1 without losing every killer (i.e.: someone escaping through the gates/2 escapes through hatch). This challenge was picked up by Dowsey who did the same thing with Hardcore Killer, then Hardcore Survivor, and then Hardcore Survivor Season 2 brought Ayrun, Otz, and JRM into the mix. Dowsey has since moved on from DbD content (and I wish him all of the success in his future endeavors, he's a great man), so Hens has subbed in. As for my stance on it and the whole idea of smurfing, transparency is a big thing. Making smurf accounts for the sole purpose of dunking on lower skilled players is kinda scummy, but I never saw this as blatantly dunking on lower skilled players to begin with. I just saw it as DbD games with higher stakes (and besides, SBMM in this game is dumb, but that's a different kind of problem that has no clear answer).
The worst players are those who lower their mmr by losing on purpose to get easier games And still play hard with the typical easy win tactics eg camping, tunneling, slugging, etc… (- A casual low level gamer )
I commented on their video as well. It's incredibly difficult to watch as they just bully new players so hard that they never touch the game again. If that were me, I might've assumed every game was gonna be that hard and say "Well, there's no point to this" and just quit. I know a lot of people still like them, but I don't respect any of them. Not anymore.
I wouldn't care as much if it wasn't for Hens attacking another creator for putting things like "High MMR" in their titles and crying about people accusing him of smurfing... when that's exactly what he's been doing. It almost feels like they dont want people to realize that's what they're doing and it's gross.
I think the thing with Tru3 straight up lying in his stream title and this are two different situations. But to compare them if Tru3 IS smurfing then hes lying about it while these 4 are straight up about it and that IS something to think about
@KaiserDaGaemer I think you may have misinterpreted the 2nd part of my statement. I'm saying that Hens is crying about himself getting accused of smurfing when he is. All while attacking other creators because of their titles. Not that tru3 is smurfing. Hens made a tweet saying something along the lines of "Titles saying high MMR are bad cause it makes people think that I'm not"
It's a pretty lame video series and the way they make it seem like it's the greatest thing ever is just cringe for me. It's pretty much gratutious new and inexperienced player bullying. If they have the balls, do the challenge against players of the same MMR.
Those 4 have so many hours in dbd they couldn't possibly run into enough killers playing with the right stuff to lose that challenge its cope to think there are more than a few killers at that level of skill MUCH like if otz surfed for a killer challenge he's one of the best if not the best even on the main account he wouldn't run into enough equal players that it'd be a problem there's not enough players who are good to always pit them against eachother
I feel bad starting new Killers because apparently they send you to lower MMR to “learn the new killer” but I end up steamrolling teams until MMR adjusts, which makes me feel sad 😢
No I do not find the way they're smurfing is bad. They're not smurfing for the intent of pub stomping but to show what's its like to climb the mmr latter on a fresh account with hindering themselves with a lack of perks and etc.
When I first started playing multiplayer games it was hard to tell when someone was smurfing, I just know I went up against some players that made me think I just wasn’t made for video games, and that there was something wrong with me. Now I look back and realize, some of those occasions were definitely smurfs absolutely ruining gaming for me, not just dbd.
I think this year is even more ridicoulus. They literally installed a rule, where they can only use 1 Perk in Ash, 2 in Bronze and so on. I really like the mention of SpookyLoopz, this was 100 times more interesting to watch and felt fair.
@@Mogsl uh you didnt mention smurfing in your comment at all, you said this year was "even more ridiculous" because of a rule where they limited perks.
@@Mogsl hello??? You keep talking about smurfing like that was what I was really talking about. I'm saying the idea that the current hardcore challenge is "even more ridiculous" made no sense in the first place. You didn't explain it either, and just keep being combative for no reason. It tells me that your original comment was made without a thought and just emotion, because you keep doubling down
Agreed, I feel like they really don’t have to Smurf to do the challenge. I understand the added prestige level to it, with unlocking certain perks, but maybe base it on bp per survivor played? Like you have to get 1 mil to “unlock” the survivors perks without dying first. I feel like that’s near the same level as Spooky’s 4K rules
I agree with all your points yo... but still the hardcore series whether hosted by dowsey or anyone else has always been my favorite content (I LOVED HOW DOWSEY EDITS HIS THING) so I'm giving them a pass on this lol
All killers have different mmr to so that doesn’t necessarily mean that they are getting fresh meat new players. I’m sure a portion of them are but not all and two the system doesn’t work atleast based on what the community commonly believes is skill on either side of the spectrum. Because it is based on kills which can be obtained in multiple not skillful ways proxy camping them killing themselves on hook etc and blendete sitting in the corner of the map waiting for her team to die to open the exit gate with wake up isn’t a skilled player either. The mmr system doesn’t work also because que times are what take first priority when creating a match then mmr cause I excape roughly 75% of my games and I regularly get babies and sometimes I get god tier players on huntress my main killer win a overwhelming majority of my games sometimes I get babies and sometimes I get a “comp squad”. The idea of smurfing being a freezable thing you can do in this game is frankly illogical.
Yeah I agree, smurfing is so wrong because it ruins the enjoyment. There might be one way when smurfing is fine if it pleases the opposing side without displeasing the allied side. An artificially forced-balance that's more accurate than the effect of DBD MMR balance mechanic.
I enjoy Otz's content, and I name him because he's the only one I'm familiar with, but I cant really go along with the idea that he didnt agree to this ruleset because it was inherently easier. They start with no perks, and doing that into a high MMR killer, who probanly has meta builds prepared, would make the challenge excessively difficult. Thats the gist of it. As for JRM, if I remember my creators, I think he'd probably be the one to suggeat this. He reeks of being a bit of a toxic survivor for 'content'. Desperate to do anything to get the killer to chase and loop for the whole game.
I think they're making smurf accounts for content, slam dunking on baby killers is a popular form of content just because with the right commentary its funny, and then towards the end when they're on their own mmr closer to iri 1, they've lost some survivors (probably) and it makes it more suspenseful. Its all for the longevity of the series, as each series wouldnt last as long if they all played on their mmr they'd get wiped out faster due to lack of perks.
Idk where yall are getting this idea they wouldnt make ot very far without perks. They are a coordinated SWF will it be harder sure. But it wont be as impossible as people make it out to be
Yeah, the smurfing aspect def takes away from the challenge aspect. Like, i get wanting to make entertaining content and if thats what you're doing great, but don't call it a challenge if you're gonna start on easy mode.
I haven't fully watched this vid, but my only counterpoint I see to the first part of the video is that it's not only that they need the fresh acc for the prestige, it's so they can keep track of what perks they have unlocked for a certain character, and not getting the instant tier 3 version of each perk etc. Maybe you adress this later, I'm a quick commenter I guess lol
I mean unless they re write the rules of hardcore, like you are right now, they don’t need to make new accounts. Otherwise, the way they have it now is just for the simple fact of having to gain all the perks again.
I have about 2k hours on my account and I get paired with players with anywhere between 100 hours to 6k hours. The MMR system DOES not work. I think something to could do is have 1 alt. I know several of them have done this challenge several times, so I think they could just have the one that is not dissimilar to their main but is only used for stuff like this. Because the thing about it is, it’s very hard to go from ash to iri in one sitting, it’s possible but it’s hard and takes many many hours. They would all have to sit down and dedicate themselves to one or two sittings because they wouldn’t be able to do ANY other content on their account during that reset period unless they had done the whole challenge before they made that extra content. I don’t think they should make new accounts every time they do it, just have one alt and figure it out from there.
First of all, many people in the comments need to stop acting like dunking on killers is the entire challenge, because it's not. Second of all, all of your ideas (from you and people in the comments are bad and here's why) - If they only used perks for a certain character in high mmr they get destroyed - If they use no perks they get destroyed If you haven't watched the entire last series of Hardcore Survivor from the 3 ep onwards, they got absolutely decimated by the killers. They had some insanely op perks at the beginning that they lost and couldn't use again which could've saved them so many times in so many games. The most fun and op combo that I sadly personally never got to use and they abused it while they could before they lost the survivor was: For the people + Buckle up. For anyone new that needs context, this combo allows you to pick up a survivor in a dying state into an injured state while you are fully healed up and you would also lose your healed up state and go into injured. Why do this? Simple, you both get to move aka person isn't stuck on the floor in the dying state waiting for the killer pick up and hook but moving, while also at the same time both get endurance for 10 secs, which basically means if the killer hits you, you are still injured and get movement speed boost (basically another free health state). If those perks were still left many times where 1/4 of them got focused by the killer could've been saved by it changing the course of entire match around and on it's head. I could go into more details of this, but I don't feel like it. Third of all, if that's the case, couldn't they also scream and cry about killers being too high mmr in their lobbies and stream snipers (well yes, but actually no. See this is where and why I hate people. Certain type of people are seen as streamers/celebrities etc. They can't fuck up or act up or act bad as well as need to be respectful good boys otherwise everyone will hate them. They are also humans, all humans make mistakes and sometimes, what people see as a mistake isn't really a mistake, but is done with someone's own right as a human being to be able to do that. Fourth of all new players with that type of mentality, if I get destroyed first game in, shouldn't be playing the game in the 1st place. I'm a person with over 1k hours in the game. I've been in pretty much every type of a scenario you can imagine in DBD. Killers and survivors because of shitty mmr are way better then me and destroy me, I get shitty teammates, MMR sucks, the game is stale and boring, meta is so shit and boring or too one sided for killer or survivor that it gives me something and I don't want to continue playing the game, but at the end of it all I didn't quit. The biggest type of "quitting" that I've done, if you can even call it quitting was take a brake. 1 game should not decided whether or not you should continue playing. Pre-last time I quit was when I was on a huge L streak and I couldn't escape once for about 200 games, maybe less. Didn't count so I'm not 100% sure. Nevertheless I can see how that can impact you, but there's a huge difference between 1 game loss and 200 games loss. I also hate you people when you blame the wrong person and reason or cause for something, If you want to blame anyone for this, blame BHVR and their shitty MM that has made me hate the game for most of my 1k hours of exp. Fifth of all, if the new player is ready to give up playing the game after a single game, like I said before they should play anything else this game is just not for them, because they will just quit it and never play it again after 500 or 1k hours like me, except I took a break even with my shitty mental, while they will quit it entirely making it pointless for them to play anyway when you can play the game for like 10k hours and not quit which is better for the community and the game as well as the game being incredibly p2w. I can't speak for everyone when saying this, but I personally don't mind getting dunked on if I'm going to be in someone else's youtube video for amazing content like Hardcore Survivor. I would like them to continue the challenge the way they did because it was interesting. This is my opinion and I fully stand by it.
I watch OTZ, but I couldn't really stand watching this "challenge" it was actually pissing me off to listen to their yelling and tryharding as if they were playing a tournament matches against some baby killers. It was not entertaining at all, boring and annoying.
I personally like the idea of it being a slow build it, it allows them to build up their perks and survivors while they rank up allowing for the tension to build as the series goes on. I agree that the smurfing is kinda a problem for the series and this kind of content as it hurts new killers experience with the game but unless Behaviour will give them a content creator account (kinda like what Riot has done for League players giving them accounts that are level 30 which was the highest at the time allowing them to play in Ranked games and such quicker instead of hand leveling accounts) that has mmr set on it for a default (allowing them to play against better killers while still having nothing) I don't see the problem having a satisfying fix for them or viewers or the players going against them. I like the series as its fun to watch with my partner who is still very new to the game and it allows me to explain whats going on it a match and why they are doing certain things so that she can better understand it and learn through them. From their Hardcore series she has gone up 2 ranks and has a lot more knowhow on the game and thats something I am happy with as someone who has gone against people with P100 5k hour bully squads while I was learning a new killer after 3 years away from the game I am perfectly okay with these series. Its not great long term but its still can help out newer survivors if they know what to take away from the videos rather than treating it like its the hardest thing ever to do which from my viewing experience none of them have said or acted like thats the case, its certainly difficult but its not meant to be impossible.
People do what people want. If people are drawn to this type of content it is good business. And much like all things in life money makes the world go around, we all wish it didn't but unfortunately that is not the reality we all are trapped in. In conclusion. See you on the other side Kiddo. . .
This comment is not about smurfing. Many people discount the impact of perks and items on survivors. in this challenge, they can't use any item they did not escape with, and all perks are bought with blood points earned during the challenge. As a new player, I feel like a broken record when I comment on this. PERKS MATER ESPESHALY LICENCED PERKS. this game is an unbalanced mess of rng perk spin wheel. Every time the killer loses in MY games it is because of counter perks if I or my teammates don't have the right perks for the killer, we die. survivors can do everything right and still lose a game to killer perks. Pre-face camp patch there were two ways a killer lost too much focus on a good looper and camping.
This is a really bad take ngl. They quickly went against hard killers and one of their first games was against a tombstone myers. Not to mention that challenges should INCREASE as they go along and theirs did. They lost this chalks and they are better than you easily. So how can you say it’s not challenging. I liked your vids but this one is honestly embarrassing

Agreed
It's entertaining, that's all it needs
Also is goes for both direction: YAY guys! 4 ppl that spend most of their dailys activities playing DBD just won against a player that is new to the game!! and they're doing a video about it!!!
Look at spooky loops challenge to iri 1. It was way more exciting at the end just because he stayed in his own mmr.
Wait…. What? How did he fix his MMR? Hardcore is all about going from Ash to Iri? You have to start from the bottom, unless his hardcore had an entirely different end goal
that´s not how mmr works @@daniels2745
@@daniels2745 Your rank resets on the 13th of every month, your MMR does not. That's when he did his challenge.
If survivors ran out of perks they'd lose the challenge automatically.
i am very happy you made a video on this, i felt the exact same way when i saw they announcement for the series.. i think it ultimately reflects a more overarching issue in the community where a lot of bigger content creators think they are exempt from, like, courtesy, for lack of a better word, for the sake of content creation, having this idea that they can do things that are typically frowned upon by the community just because they're making a video/streaming/whatever. and i don't think it is because of any malice usually, but it's sort of this like, oversight that i think a lot of ccs have which makes some of their preaching about good sportsmanship feel hypocritical, even if unintentionally
very good points !!! your suggestions were all very good too; i think spookyloops also did his hardcore killer challenge in a way that was still engaging but wasn't capitalizing off of literal day 1 players for content... awesome video as always !
After all, what honor is there in having your ass put on a wall of shame for all to see?
don’t they hide usernames?
@@alexandervelez9507, I believe they do, but the final sentence was meant to be taken as an allegory, not necessarily literal.
Im honestly super disappointed with otz taking part in just bullying new players. As for Hens he's a bit toxic when playing survivor. Idk the rest
Its called smurfing because the first well known case of smurfing was with a guy who's name was smurf.
I swear half the dbd content on youtube is people like this showing off their le epic looping skills xdd on baby killers
The worst players are those who lower their mmr by losing on purpose to get easier games And still play hard with the typical easy win tactics eg camping, tunneling, slugging, etc…
(- A casual low level gamer )
11:39 as a knight player I felt so bad for you since sometimes trying to place a guard is so janky and it wastes so much more time o7
No I do not find the way they're smurfing is bad. They're not smurfing for the intent of pub stomping but to show what's its like to climb the mmr latter on a fresh account with hindering themselves with a lack of perks and etc.
? They're not showing shit, the point of the challenge isn't to SHOW something.
Bruh why does that bother you, it's a good way to make the effect of "smurfing" even less. And it's a nice addition to the challenge.
@@yuppersmeer6080 because I still don't like the smurfing because it's still unnecessary? bRuH
@@Mogsl uh you didnt mention smurfing in your comment at all, you said this year was "even more ridiculous" because of a rule where they limited perks.
@@yuppersmeer6080 the whole video revolves around the smurfing aspects of the challenge, if you can't count 2+2 together don't bother me with it
@@Mogsl hello???
The idea of smurfing being a freezable thing you can do in this game is frankly illogical.
the first ever internet smurf i forgot on what game, had his name as actually smurf something 😂
Yeah I agree, smurfing is so wrong because it ruins the enjoyment. There might be one way when smurfing is fine if it pleases the opposing side without displeasing the allied side. An artificially forced-balance that's more accurate than the effect of DBD MMR balance mechanic.
Well personally I found it gross because this was originally Dowsey thing.
Wouldn't it being super hard be the point of "HARDCORE Survivor"?
@@AzureRoxe You would think so, but bullying baby killers until gold isn't exactly hard, is it?
I think they're making smurf accounts for content, slam dunking on baby killers is a popular form of content just because with the right commentary its funny, and then towards the end when they're on their own mmr closer to iri 1, they've lost some survivors (probably) and it makes it more suspenseful. Its all for the longevity of the series, as each series wouldnt last as long if they all played on their mmr they'd get wiped out faster due to lack of perks.
Idk where yall are getting this idea they wouldnt make ot very far without perks. They are a coordinated SWF will it be harder sure. But it wont be as impossible as people make it out to be
Yes it is very problematic because they are casually smurfing and ruining so many games just to reach a red rank which only kids find really cool
Nah, it’s crazy otz is in on it. Like wtf kinda challenge is it for people with 10s of thousands of hours played on the game to re-rank up 💀
I have about 2k hours on my account and I get paired with players with anywhere between 100 hours to 6k hours. I don’t think they should make new accounts every time they do it, just have one alt and figure it out from there.
kaiser u and that word have me rollin😂 and now that strangers things was released again, what do u think? will u be buying any of the characters? 👀
First of all, many people in the comments need to stop acting like dunking on killers is the entire challenge, because it's not.
Second of all, all of your ideas (from you and people in the comments are bad and here's why)
- If they only used perks for a certain character in high mmr they get destroyed
- If they use no perks they get destroyed
If you haven't watched the entire last series of Hardcore Survivor from the 3 ep onwards, they got absolutely decimated by the killers.
Couldnt agree more. I even commented about it on one of spookyloops vids.
Theres alot of problems that DBD has that could've used this passion instead of this lol
what is otz constantly doing⁉️
I watch OTZ, but I couldn't really stand watching this "challenge" it was actually pissing me off to listen to their yelling and tryharding as if they were playing a tournament matches against some baby killers. It was not entertaining at all, boring and annoying.
Seriously? Haven't they ever heard of custom match games?
Nah i love the series and its not really detrimental at all. This game is a casual game at the core
Every time the killer loses in MY games it is because of counter perks if I or my teammates don't have the right perks
for the killer, we die. survivors can do everything right and still lose a game to killer perks. Pre-face camp patch there were two ways a killer lost too much focus on a good looper and camping.
Can't even focus on the video because of the genuinely baffling killer gameplay
Sounds like a you problem tbh
This is a really bad take ngl. They quickly went against hard killers and one of their first games was against a tombstone myers. Not to mention that challenges should INCREASE as they go along and theirs did. They lost this chalks and they are better than you easily. So how can you say it’s not challenging. I liked your vids but this one is honestly embarrassing
lmao you can learn a lot from smurf, just get better and learn from your mistakes
