i wrote "in my mind" after a very painful heartbreak. i remember going home after a dodie concert and all i wanted to do was sleep because it was the only time it didn't hurt so bad. i wrote this song after being awoken by grief, and writing the lyrics all at once. as i was drifting asleep, i hummed a voice memo so i could remember the melody. i'd like to think that this song is truly a glimpse of my mindset during that time, and how it can be turned into something beautiful.
this is my first track with orchestral instruments (yep that's me on violin!), and i want to give a huge shout out to my buddy justin griffin for playing timpani on it to truly bring it to life. i hope you enjoy it.
