  • In this video you will see how I terminate cables behind a patch panel. Keep in mind there are over 200 cables here and this is not a finished product. Cable supports behind the panel and dressing still needs to be done.

      Lol I see what your talking about. Didn't realize that. Good catch. The spline of the cat6 cable was a paper material instead of that hard plastic. If I tried to cut it like it was cable it would just fold in the snips.
      FYI some of my techs call them scissors. Drives me crazy.

    110 style patch panels are garbage, modular is the way to go.

    • @pachthecableguy
      @pachthecableguy  8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      samething dude. except your putting a jack in the panel. it's still 110.
      Question what makes modular better than a 110 panel? just asking. see where you go with this. only thing I can think of modular being better than a panel, is because it's one cable per port. on the 110 panel you have 1 cable on top and 1 below. if you don't keep the twist at the very end it can create near end cross talk. that's the only thing different I can think of.

    There will always be nitpicking and personal preference differences between companies and techs. That said, very nice work!

      labels are on the front side of the patch panel. the cables have labels also written in sharpy on the cables. I'm not just grabbing any cable and punching them where I want. even If I did that, we Certify every cable using a Fluke dsx5000. at that point you can also label to confirm cable number. I been in this business for over 10 years I know what I'm doing. are you trolling?

    • @israelt8304
      @israelt8304 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Leo Pach you cut the cable then look at the end of the cable to read the label. Then never wrote it back on the cable or put a wrap around. Maybe it's just the size of the job you're doing but every job I've done we are required to but labels front and back

    • @pachthecableguy
      @pachthecableguy  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some customers request that from us. At that time we will use wrap around labels.
      What I'm doing in this video is looking for the next number grabbing 2 at a time and punch them down in their spot. It looks like I'm just cutting but I already have the cables separated so the numbers are real close to each other. Not difficult for me to find the next number. Good eye though. Where do you work?

    • @pachthecableguy
      @pachthecableguy  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      look at the patch panel before I place the cable. it's also written in there with sharpie.

    Fast and good work,looks like you've split the cable lume and for example gone 1-12 on one side then 13-24 on the other .

    • @pachthecableguy
      @pachthecableguy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks.
      I actually go 1-12 and then 24-13, so my outer cables are dressed perfectly. I use the vertical wire managers to hide any in and outs.
      Thinking of making this channel a low voltage communication channel.

    If u take the patch panel out the cables are coming from left and right!

    • @pachthecableguy

      True, but customers (IT) request this alot of times. This actually takes longer seperating cables left and right and cable dressing. Good comment

      Stop the video and zoom in. I hand write number behind panel, front of panel is labeled, and if the customer request (pays) we do wrap around labels on the cable at both ends. Behind patch panel and behind faceplate. The cables are also labeled with sharpie. You can see me looking for the right 2 cables.
      Thanks for the comment.
