Learn How to Use the New Downtown Parking Meters

McAllen’s new electronic meters were unveiled downtown July 14th. Visitors were greeted by ambassadors to provide step-by-step instruction for the new meters. Here’s a look at how you use the new and improved meters. The Downtown Services Department installed 16 solar-powered parking stations on Main Street, from Business Highway 83 to Dallas Avenue. The new multi-space meters will provide users the option to pay for parking using a credit/debit card. The multi-space meters are easy to use, enabling customers to purchase parking time by simply entering their license plate number. The meters will service multiple spaces, replacing 120 meters. The technology has the potential to increase occupancy, revenue, and accessibility of parking spaces in downtown McAllen.
