Spot on review just picked one up today used. Paid $600 great guitar for that price point. I’d say $800-$1000 would be a better price for this guitar new to represent the quality.
Great unbiased review. The take away, she sounds great, you get great electronics, but the QC on the neck may be lacking attention to detail. I can totally relate because I have 2 PRS SE and I love their necks, perfect from the factory. I’m on the fence about this one, it should have good fret work at that price point. Even compared to my Japanese made FGN, which is cheaper than this guitar, which has exquisite fret work, I don’t want to pay $1500 with tax for a guitar that needs attention to the nut and frets. That doesn’t make sense to me. Like you say, I’d rather get a cheaper well made over seas guitar that doesn’t need any work and save myself $700.
@@DrOcelot667 you got it, and yours is a perfectly realistic comment. For 1500 Eur, it has to be flawless. But… it is FAR from that. A Mexican Fender is way better than an expensive Epiphone.
Hi there Marzio! Incredible looking classic guitar, but I agree they're starting to ask too much considering the build quality. You really do make great content. Not overly long, always great playing and it's obvious you really know your stuff well. Hope your channel grows fast 🤞Cheers!
@@Eldestthorin they are meant to be played standing. I only did it this way for this video. In general, for the sake of solid level performances, I practice, record and play concerts always in the same position: standing. And these models (V, explorer) are not meant at all to be play seated. 🤣
Nice , I got the Explorer and really just had to set up/ condition board i also put some thread tape on bridge post to stabilize the bridge . when i did first string change hit it with fret erasers starting at 800 grit finishing with 6000 micro mesh , plays amazing after that . . I don't mind attending to a new guitar as long as it isn't crazy bad . . I think they look and sound Amazing as well.
I think for this price tag, they should not require any fret erasing whatsoever, but that's absolutely personal. If you think that for 2k you get some PRS USA that play, look and sound like a dream... the Epis here feel like armed robbery. I hope you get my point. But of course, they are good instruments, and the sound is unquestionably excellent.
and of course.. THANKS for watching and for your comment. My guitar did not require any tape on its bridge - that for example is unacceptable, if I were you I would have returned it.
@@marziograva , What i mean by taping when the strings were off i felt the bridge studs wobbled too much within the recessed fitting to which it sits . . just a personal thing , lol
Nice video Marzio. I prefer the explorer one, but I think the same, 1'4K for a Epi is too much.. Totally agree with PRS, I have a Korean SE 22 Custom and the feeling is better than my Epis. I am looking now for a Superstrat 24 frets , what do you think of the 2024 PRS Mark Holcom? I think PRS is doing better work than Gibson/Epi and the prices are not rising so high and fast in compare. One comment, I think the volume of your voice is better but still a bit low. Thanks mate.
Hola otra vez :) Sorry, I've just realised I haven't responded to your question about the Mark Holcomb model. It is a great guitar, and in general if you go for affordable instruments, the SE by PRS are the way to go if you want good quality for lower budgets. I always recommend the PRS SE Silver Sky for example when someone asks me about affordable great guitars. I have guitars that are worth 10 or 20.000 euros, but if I have to go with a cheaper guitar, my go to guitar would always be a PRS SE Silver Sky. For humbuckers then it would be a PRS SE Custom 22, probably, or a DGT, or Paul´s guitar.
@@Twirlyhead I disagree, respectfully. Based on my personal experience, normally price and origin are a good guide, and I never said that a Gibson Les Paul Standard is guaranteed to be flawless. In my experience however every Gibson USA I owned/own was/is absolutely fine with no quality issues.
@@marziograva Many people have had issues with Gibson's quality control, plenty of examples on YT but I only use Gibson as an example. It is understandable with your experience of total perfection in expensive guitars that you may blame any flaw in a cheaper guitar on them being cheaper. Also, the dry fingerboard issue, it is laurel, maybe part of the issue; a shame it isn't rosewood.
@@Twirlyhead absolutely, I understand Gibson’s quality control is not always precise. Now, believe me: for a big part of my life I could not afford anything expensive. Had cheap guitars for a long time. My problem with this V is simple: they are selling it for almost 1500 euros something that is not worth that much. For that price, these guitars should come properly clean and decently set. Epiphone made in China that costs more than Fender USA (the most basic models) but are nowhere near in terms of quality.

Absolutely - they are great but not ‘1400 euros great’ :) well said, and congrats on your new guitar! 🥳 🎸
Great, honest review. Thank you!

Let’s be honest, the korina makes everything good looking!! Great video pal!!
Haha fair point, mate! Cheers!
I really appreciate the honest review.
And I appreciate your comment and especially the fact that you found my video helpful.

The way you sit with the V makes me twitch. I only play Vs and Explorers and they're meant to be played sitting classically.

Yes but I have a Gibson Les Paul Standard which came with a very poorly cut nut so price and origin aren't necessarily a good guide.
