So exciting!!! I cannot wait to see what the new year brings for you!! Your girls are beautiful!!! Best wishes for easy deliveries of strong, healthy kids!!
Ayeee That's a lottaa Births for you to handle 🥳🥳 Giving you all the strength right from Christmas ⛄⛄ And really praying and hoping to see some mini-troubles running around :)
I can't wait for baby goats. And we're going to be getting baby goat content in Jan, Feb, March and April next year 😍 I wish you all the amazing udders on your first fresheners. Question, though you don't have to answer, what are your plans for retained doelings numbers next year? I only ask because you have seven first fresheners (though I know they all won't get to stay) to test/show, is there a max number of goats you feel you can keep?
That’s a great question! So no all 7 ideally will not be staying, and the max number I set for myself is really just based off how many does I’m willing to milk in a season and to ensure the health of my herd isn’t affect by having a large herd. I told myself I’d only milk 20 does, currently at 13 if everyone predicted freshens this coming spring. Hard cuts will also have to be made so I can retain doelings that’ll be born in 2024….along with new goats being brought in.
This might be a silly thing to ask. But what is your pros and cons to breeding in August for January kids, as opposed to to breeding in October for late February early March kids? I know a lot of different breeders breed at different times of the year. I guess I’m wondering what the reasoning behind yours is. All of your goats look gorgeous. Can’t wait till kidding starts. Stay awesome. ❤
I usually like early to mid January born kids so that those does that deliver can be put on milk testing earlier before our summer heat arrives. I also like the January born kids when it comes to shows, they just seem to be at a more competitive age since it’s usually one of the older junior classes available (besides dry yearlings). Definitely not a silly question Clay!
Lol I’m just trying to, and am learning so much. I hope to one day have a herd of my own, and be a successful breeder and shower, and it’s breeders like you who make me feel like my dreams are possible. 😊
Slightly but you really can’t gauge attachment until you have a full udder. Currently you can just kinda see teat placement and potentially udder height.
My money is on royal, candi, sundee, ruthie and frankie.. gracie, may and wern most likely to be going next year..from the senior taylor might be the one is going..i think Cheyenne getting more stronger than taylor..and momma poppy is going to be retair...this is my prediction
I like your thinking , hoping all those juniors you listed money on impress me to!! Taylor may get a hall pass until she gets a Linear Appraisal score but we shall see
@@deserthardtdairygoats I am really hoping great for your herd.in past I was all for colours and moonspoots, blue eyes but from your videos I learn a lot about genetics and hard cuts..hard cuts should be done for making the herd more strong.. firstly it was hard for me but now from watching Danelle, crystal and your videos I learned to learn the process..hoping poppy and trouble take it..🤞🏻🤞🏻
You should have registered them kids! We have 2 many unregistered goats out there and 9 times out of 10 they go to the meat wagon , that's one thing I can't stand about registered breeders!
Registering a goat doesn’t sway their possible fate of the “meat wagon” aka Freezer Camp. My reason for not registering certain kids/does/bucks is because the registered dairy goat world is flooded with poor quality animals for the simple money gain of claiming they’re registered & come from “great milk lines” just to make more money when that breeder sells kids. I ONLY want to register goats I would be proud to have my herd name attached to, if they aren’t quality why would I want that to represent my name??
That’s an exciting lineup, can’t wait to see all those babies on the ground!
Tell those girls to Think Pink 💗
Definitely hoping that doe fairy pays our farm a visit💕

Just a question, How many days before the due date when you could start to see the udder of a first freshener from your experience? :D
I have does that are 105 days away from kidding and you can slowly start to see the FF udder development.
@@deserthardtdairygoats Are their udder attachment visible by then?
